Tri-City/Walla Walla Fight Club

I walked by that place actually on Friday night. Looks legit man. I’ll talk to Cesar whenever he wakes up.

Pikachu i thought you were dead.

The problem is in de-syncing the stock ps3 pad, it is a bitch. Not a good look when you are trying to run a tournament with 1000 people. Best bet is to track down an old Dualshock for ps1 or ps2 and get one of these: iNPiN PS2 to PS3 Converter

Alright so I was around Richland and did a little drop by Sunken Treasures. This place has a LOT of room and I talked to the owners about it and they sound like they’re interested. They even were talking about making flyers or some type of advertisement for us. I’m gonna drop by Weds again with Cesar probably and talk to them some more. But I’m gonna need some input from everyone really so I can be ready to speak with them.

How many games do we want to run and what games should we run? (AE, MVC3, MK9)

Entry fee cost? (I was thinking $3 or $5. $3 probably would get more random people)

What day to run this? (End of this month? Early or late June? If we do it in June, we’ll probably get more people)

What time to run this? (The place seems to close around 8 PM a lot so as long as we can finish before they close, it should be good)

Format? (Single elim? Double elim? Round robin?)

How many consoles do we need? What consoles do you guys want to run things on?

Can anyone bring setups? I’ll for sure bring my Evo monitor w either console.

If you guys can bring up any other good points to talk about, let me know. Also I’m gonna try to get a sign-up sheet down on people who are interested in SSF4AE so PM me if you are with your phone number if I don’t already have it. I’m gonna leave MVC3 and MK9 up to Cesar since he keeps in touch with that scene more.

Here’s the Sunken Treasures website and facebook if you guys wanna check them out.

I think ae, marvel 3, and mk9 would be good. Entry fee i think should be 5 so that some of it could go to the shop like a doller or two per entry. if its on playstation i could provide mine but i dont have any good tvs. a month to put up flyers and get the word out would be plenty to get a lot of people there we could put up flyers at cbc, stores all over the tri cities, even have pikachu hand them out at the flee market lol. summer time when school is out on a weekend would get most people i think. double elimi sounds cool. early start like 12 or 1 in case there are younger kids planing to attend that cant be our to late. we should also expand our area of advertising to like benton city or prosser. anyone else got some ideas? Oh and we need a cool name for this.

Hella Asian Mike.

I almost got disqualified at Evo 2008 because some dipshit on a sixaxis forgot to desync his controller and walked away and kept accidentally pausing my game making it look like I was pausing. So I can sympathize with people who want to play with the pad they’re comfortable with but wireless is just too problematic. Definitely pick up the equipment Pablo linked you to mang.

hey guys I’m from atlanta, and staying here in Richland for 2-3 months. I play SSF4 seriously (I main Ryu, 4500pp 19000bp, and Ken and Cammy), and I really wanna hang out with you guys and play games. I brought my xbox console, SSF4 DVD, and dual-modded fightstick. Please let me know for any gatherings and tourneys. I live near Safeway in Richland, but unfort, I don’t have a car, but I can take a bus, or can pay the gas to whoever give me a ride. Please PM me, or give me a call. 678-665-2332. (The phone reception is not good here, so please leave me a voice message if I don’t answer. Thanks!

Hello joyfull78 i got weekends off so im down on the weekends. I can most likely get paco david but i think he only plays mvc3. Damn you must be pretty good to have that high of a rank. Mike(yabukistyle) is good with ryu too. Ill call u to let u know alright. And welcome to the northwest.

Thanks for ur kindness, MrKarate2. I can play pretty much everyday after 6pm on weekdays and all day on weekend lol. I’ll look forward to your call or PM. (Again, the phone signal is not good both in my workplace and home, sigh) BTW, I found out Sunken Treasures Games, which is an interesting place, is not far from my place, i.e., 1.5 miles. I can even walk there lol.

Yeah, we will be holding tournaments there sometime soon. We’ll keep everyone in the thread posted.

Sup joyfull78. Glad to have someone new in town and looks like you know how to play. Kinda excited to play someone new. Our problem though is mainly having a big enough place to compensate all of the players and having it available consistently. Hopefully after talking with Sunken Treasures tomorrow we can have a place to play least once a month.

Probably give you a call sometime to play some casuals. Kinda been off and on with Super right now but once AE drops I’m pretty much gonna give 110% before Evo.

Edit: I just talked to Sagat David and he’s gonna ask Raul tomorrow if we could use his place for casuals so we might get something going. I’ll give everyone a call if things start up. Probably will happen 6 PM and on. On PS3.

Anoda day walkin in cercels.

Alright people. Got some awesome news.

Sunken Treasures gave us the OK to run an event! They didn’t want a venue fee either so big shoutouts to them! So lets make this the biggest Tri-Cities fighting game tourney to date!

Location: Sunken Treasures - 1341B George Washington Way, Richland, WA 99354
Date: Friday, June 24th
Time: 2 PM start time? We’re debating right now since the place closes at 8 PM and we wanna get through 3 games by then.
Games: SSF4AE, MvC3, MK9
Entry Fee: $3 per game
Format: Double Elimination

SSF4AE will run on PS3
MvC3 will run on Xbox 360
MK9 will be debated in the next few weeks due to patches not working offline on Xbox 360 but working on PS3

This will be a Bring Your Own Controller event so please BRING YOUR OWN CONTROLLER.

So far I have 1 PS3, 2 X360, 2 monitors. I’m thinking of having two stations per tournament so we can run things as faster. Double elimination takes a REALLY long time to finish so the more setups the better. With that said, we still need…
1 PS3
2 X360 (if MK9 is ran on 360) or 2 more PS3 (if MK9 is ran on PS3)
1 PS3 copy of SSF4AE (we could probably game share the DLC)
2 X360 copies of MvC3 (1 if Cesar still has his)
2 X360 copies of MK9 or 2 PS3 copies of MK9 (Sunken Treasures might be able to supply 1 copy)
4 LAGLESS tvs or monitors <- !!!THIS IS THE VERY IMPORTANT ONE!!!

It’d be awesome if anyone can help out on this. Let me know if anyone can bring any of these. We got one month to prepare. Lets make a really great tourney!

Edit: Oh yeah. Sorry for not setting up any casuals today. It got really late by the time I got home and done with everything. My next day off is probably Monday or Tuesday next week so lets shoot for then.

Very nice Asian Mike!

I’m trying to round up some of the people here to see if we can make it out there for your event, to make it have an additional 4-5 people to add to the pot. It needs to be a big event so that the owners of the venue will be interested in more events like it. And maybe even they’ll start promoting and adding prizes to pots and whatnot.

Advertisement to their benefit.

Like i said i could provid my ps3 and maybe maybe a tv. Ill have to ask my dad and maybe mike or cesar can check it out to see if its truelly lag free. Are we going to make like flyers to put all over town?e You sure about that date mike cause ill have to ask for it off since i work that day and time. Sounds cool. Im thinking we will need to move a lot of stuff in the store right? So set ups will be like 1 or 2 hours before. Anyway its great to hear this is going down. Oh and ill have a copy of ae i could provide.

Wow this is getting epic in here.

I have a PS3 and a 360 I can donate to the event. I would be willing to bring my TV too, if you guys think the lag on it was acceptable. It’s the one that I used in the kitchen during that last tournament I ran, the one that we did the tournaments and recording from. It’s kinda big, but if it will help out, and you guys deem it lag-acceptable, I’ll bring it. I will also have AE for PS3. And I can pick up a copy of MK9 for whatever system you guys decide to hold it on.

Who is running the brackets? If the venue has internet, I would recommend we use Challonge. It’s really easy to use and will pretty much accommodate any number of contestants for both single and double elimination style tournaments. I believe it’s what they used at SCR last year (not positive). If you guys want to use it, and the venue does have internet, then I can bring my laptop to run the brackets on. If they don’t have internet, there may still be an option to get my computer online there. Let me know what you guys think.

So is it safe to assume that Mike and Cesar are going to be the TO’s?

After talking with some of the people here, asian mike, i got a count of 5 people who would be willing go to.

As for everyone else, I would recommend dishing out some cash and buying an Evo monitor. It is a about a 150 bucks or so, but it is a long term investment if you plan on playing any fighting games, and it also makes for a great monitor for PC use. I HIGHLY recommend it, rather than trying to rely on TV/Monitors that have a chance of being lag-less. Just get an Evo monitor, and use that as a primary Gaming monitor for fighting games, its very light weight and easy to carry, and already has speakers included.

Long as you guys have 6 set ups, with lag-less monitors. I’ve been to tournaments where they used monitors that were thought of as “lag-less” or “you can barely feel it” and it makes a huge different. It can really cause lots of issues. EVO monitor! get one!

If we roll up, I’m sure we’ll take about 2 evo monitors and 2 xboxes with AE. But I wouldn’t guarantee it as final. Things may always come up at last minute and prevent us from going, so we’ll just take the set ups for “casuals” on the side.

Yeah Mike and I are TO’s and the venue does have wireless internet.

So we have…
2 PS3
1 X360
2 tvs (need to do a lag test)
2 copy of AE for PS3

And from the Idaho crew
2 X360
2 Evo Monitors
2 copies of AE for X360

That means we just need 2 more tvs and 1 more X360 to be ready on our part. Oh and the MK9 and MvC3 copies. I’d count the Idaho crew’s setups but decided not to just in case something happens where they can’t make it.

Hella gotta hit up that taco truck when you get here Ramon. Random Chicago guy wanting a taco.
