I’m about to go from Hawaii to Washington and I want to bring my Hrap3. Could I just go through the airport with my stick without having someone think it’s a bomb and raping me? And I was also wondering what would be the best way to take a stick overseas.
yes/carry on(to both questions). I traveled with my TE with no hassles.
Take it in with your carry on, just make sure you have a bag to fit it and doesn’t go over the size limit (which it shouldn’t since Hori’s are pretty small)
don’t…I repeat DON’T put it with your main baggage. It’ll come back to you in pieces with the way they handle them.
I was just going to post a thread asking about this. I’m heading to Devastation in Arizona in June. So the consensus is to bring it as carry on. Should we bring a wrench in case they want it opened while going through security?
Dunno, with the way airport security is, they may see a wrench or screwdriver as a weapon, lolz. I’d say if they have to open it, they’ll hopefully have the tools somewhere to do so. I doubt they’d need to though.
The baggage handlers literally throw luggage as hard as they can when it comes off the plane.
I traveled half way the earth with my stick in my luggage, I just took out the joystick out and packed it alone so there was nothing that could break.
Does anyone know of a protective carrying case built specifically for arcade sticks?
I just came back from a trip from Hawaii to the mainland with a metal arcade stick in my backpack carry-on. When you go through security checkpoints, take it out of the backpack and place it in the plastic tray. I didn’t do that at first and they had to manually inspect my backpack because the metal was setting off their system. They manually checked it, ran it separately back through the machine and all was fine. They didn’t open it up or anything. I wouldn’t bring any “tools” with you.
I just wanted to pop in and further push the idea that you should carry your stick with you, rather than pack it in your luggage. I fly a lot and can assure you that luggage gets opened and rummaged through all the time. You might have carefully packed your stick to avoid damage, but its likely that if your luggage gets flagged for a random check (happens to me more often than I would expect) it will NOT be repacked with the same care. Sometimes the zippers aren’t even pulled all the way shut. I would definitely take anything you really care about with you on the plane where you can keep full control over it.
Oh yeah, don’t bring tools. Their x-ray machines can see everything they need to know about your stick.
