Translated AE2012 Blanka changes

Sweet, you were one of the Blankas I learned a ton from in Vanilla, glad to hear it!

It means the matchup gets slightly better for weaker opponents but in cases where it actually matters it’s better for Blanka because good players know how to punish blocked balls anyway.

I thought it was kind of troll for the characters that couldn’t punish it on block (T-hawk) anyway. I don’t want a reversal that’s a super free “fuck it, I’m out” card on a couple of obscure characters regardless of their decision, and a death sentence on the rest, again, regardless of their decision. I’d rather be punished for making the wrong choice, and rewarded for making the correct one.

All characters can safe jump Blanka with his late wake up ?

I think it’s going to be like the HP Ball, very close so very punishable, but we can’t have all advantages.

Hawk is literally the only character who couldn’t punish, and he gets stomped by Blanka anyways.

6 frame reversal setups work on Blanka generally.

what do you mean by saying late wake up? is something like yang or what?

Blanka generally gets up 2 frames late from knockdowns.

scrubby bandwagon thread :rolleyes: most of the things i wrote/requesting there, are things YOU and others were talking about that should be fixed or added to improve blanka. just because i’m not as good you with blanka doesn’t mean i have no understanding of the game itself. but hey… asking for a proper reversal or better frame-data or safe balls on hit is just scrubby. right… the not so good blanka players should better stfu and hide under a rock. we are not worthy to request buffs for jimmy if we aren’t as good as you.

btw, if i influenced capcom even in a tiny way to give blanka a knockdown with ex-upball… man, this scrub player that i’m just got you an awesome tool… but that was bad influence to capcom. my bad… i shouldn’t better just say nothing to capcom. might have helped not to get a knockdown on ex-upball. i get you ves, you are a genius :tup:

So Ves, his wake up is a weakness or not ? Setups 4+ or 5+ works on him ?

Thanks to everyone that requested this change in one way or another, we all wanted it for a while now.

After reading his request, a lot of things are good, this method may seems scrubby but… i think he don’t loose anything to do that, especially when the ideas are realistic and legit.

After sleeping on it i’m not as excited about exupball change. I really need to see how close you are after the pushback. Currently someone like ken can stepkik me on a blocked upball. but if now he can do something like c.HP xx DP fadc ultra then i’m gonna be sad LOL. Big risk right there, and my reward if it hit him is he gets knocked down. So i’m not sure if that’s a huge buff when i think of it that way. I will know once i’m able to play with it!

Fox: Think of the upball as now just like balrog’s headutt. While blanka doesnt get an ultra after, his better hitbox and more safety on complete whiff sorta balance that out.

Besides, smart blanka should never throw out upball on a guess anyway. Its best to see things that you can interrupt and then punish with the upball.

For example, yun’s love to do standing strong into shoulder. Its really easy to see the shoulder and interrupt, but previously this was stupid as if blanka interrupted standing strong into shoulder with ex upball, yun could get a free ex shoulder in return. Now we can really interrupt certain block strings, and hopefully be able to press the advantaage or at least get out of the corner.

You make a good point –
because ex upball basically was able to train some opponents to stay the eff off during wakeup, as long as ex was there it was relatively a safe bet at getting more damage than some opps could punish with… which opens your game up to wakeup throw etc and generally not being afraid to wakeup without using it, once they are waiting for it, if it is very punishable now the risk is much more and you maybe can’t really train them as well and mix-up your wakeup options as before.

We will see exactly HOW PUNISHABLE it is on block.
