if hard/ex hori ball does kd no matter where you do it and it hits, the seth matchup will be a bit better because he can no punish you with hard punch or ultra 1. the other wont change.
The knockdown only applies to close range horizontal ball so there’s no hardly any change to Seth as well because if you land combos it should be electricity all the time

meh… then the kd isn’t that huge buff to counter fireballers. it would’ve help blanka a lot against seth, sim and even cammy. but we are talking about blanka… so making balls safe is too much to ask.
yes most definitely if hp ex ball knockdown at all range it would help lots of match ups… But unfortunately this buff kinda sucks as well…

I am actually looking into another main cos I can’t stand Blankas bad matchups. I stuck with Necro in SF3, but this is just ridiculous. Will keep my blanka updated despite picking another main.
What matchups bother?
Seth, Bison, Balrog, Honda(to some extent), Guile, Vega (to some extent), Hakan (a little)
If you are bothered by Guile, Vega, Hakan you have issues.
Blanka has far worse matchups.
Surprised you don’t have issues with Makoto, Fei, Cammy, Sagat, and Abel are all worse than the above. Hell Blanka beats Guile and Hakan IMO
Maybe I haven’t fought good ones. lol
Not saying those matches aren’t tough or anything, but they aren’t annoyingly tough or irritating like Bison, Balrog and Seth. I forgot to mention Dhalsim too. With Bison I have no idea how to counter scissor kick spam.
you might find some good info/suggestions in the specific character match up threads… and if you don’t i’m sure if you ask people will give you some answers.

hakans are rare! so it’s difficult to find a GOOD hakan! tell me when you find a good one! you gonna change your opinion in this MU! this MU is very very hard!
Hakan has excelent normals, he can punish balls easily, up close he has command throws, he has an air throw, he has some naaasty tricks (“canceling” slide into command throw etc.) and in 2012 he is going to start the round in powered up mode!
I think hakan is lil bit like seth! nobody really plays him, because he is difficult, or just feels strange! so nobody knows how good he really is! poongko showed how to play seth! somebody should come and show how to play hakan (looking in wildcats direction)
I agree, we don’t know well Hakan.
You can rush dry Hakan down for free until he gets ultra, random slide is all you have to worry about. 2012 will be harder cause he starts oiled.
it took 3 iterations for capcom to realize they need to pre-oil hakan… i thought it was ridiculous why they didn’t do that the first time
yet… capcom likes to keep blanka as unsafe as possible.

I’d really like mp ball to be safer like lp ball is now. i’d also like UPBALL TO KNOCKDOWN, at least EX, I mean come on already. effin ex upball knockdown.
MP Ball doesn’t need to be much safer, but I really wish it was more safe. It’s really hard to use currently and only has good utility against a handful of characters.
Close up KD ball, while a buff, may actually increase the amount of scrubby blanka players that didn’t use Blanka because they can’t piano/slide electricity (hell, I still encounter 4000+pp blankas that can only mash out elec). More blanka scrubs = more blanka hate
I’d even be OK with the old MP ball hitbox. ball is so easy to interrupt now. you get hit out of it from a mile away.
So it’s an unrwritten rule that you can only “represent” Blanka as long as you can piano/slide properly?
I used to have around 3500PP on Vanilla with Blanka using a PS1 pad.
Now I have a TE stick but I still can’t piano/slide (still mashing LP for elec), so I’m a shame to all “true” Blanka players in the world, is that it?
Ok… just kidding, but not all players who piano/slide are good and not all players who mash LP are scrubs… I mean, I am, but not everyone is.
I was accused more than once of using turbo while mashing LP for electricity… go figure.
I had 3500pp in ps3 vanilla on pad, and an 80% win rate.
I sucked then
Vanilla comp was weaker, psn is weaker, and not being able to do electricity properly is a huge detriment.
