I don’t know why Taku didn’t OS punish any of the Rose backdashes - maybe he just forgot? I would think the #1 Blanka in the world would know that though.

As for the ball buff, looks like it either knocks down from anywhere/they may have increased the frames you can fadc ball from. I am curious as to what ex ball does though. Ball knockdown doesn’t seem like it would let you keep momentum as the blowback is high, so i find it a situational buff. Electricity is probably better under most conditions except those where the elec hitbox won’t reach. I actually may consider the 10 dmg increase (on balls) to be a bigger buff then the knockdown buff, or on par.

Appears to be no tweaks to ex up ball :frowning: Judging from the crispy 3x lk -> s lp -> HP ball I saw, I would like to believe that cr. lk frames have improved, but i doubt it.

you’d be surprised how many top players don’t do things like OS. A lot of times guys like that have endless hours playing top competition and few hours actually trying to learn secret tech.

i actually consider OS to be one of the last things you’d want to learn as blanka. So i’ts not surprising if he was missing them.

In situations where the roll is unsafe on hit, this buff is good : we can punish Sim, Seth, Cammy and maybe Dee jay and Makoto.

Looking again, it looks like the rose player was focus backdashing so ndont think you can os that but at the ver least the guy kept doing the same thing so he could have just predicted/reacted with a slide

this knockdown looks pretty nice. you think it’s possible to do roll -> fadc -> electric?
i don’t know about the the fadc into ex ball… they drop so quick, you may miss them … but you get charge for ex ball, maybe it’s possible to connect into ultra too. may only work in the corner… but man, that would be sweet.

well, it certainly will help his matchup against seth, cammy and sim… no more free fireballs to punish ex ball with those damn stretchy arms.
also cody can forget his ultra 2 on hit punish… go flying jailboy. same thing for ryu… no more free super after jimmy lands his roll on you.

so some matchups will improve, some wont change a bit. boxer and honda will still suck. sagat can keep his ex meter and ultra bar…

jimmy should rise up a few spots in the tier list back to upper mid-tier.

would’ve loved if capcom gave him also clMP canceable into specials and upball does knockdown. that would have make jimmy really strong.

cl.mp being +6 and/or the elimination of normal rockcrusher would be a far bigger buff.

yea get rid of rockcrusher i’d love to be able to smp while charging.

I’d miss the fake overhead mixup somewhat, but seriously, it actually limits your options just because of what button it is on. It’s not even something like super big too cause there are workarounds, but it’s just annoying for no reason.

Maybe Blanka will receive other things, Locktests are not completed, wait.

i highly doubt that give blanka anything beyond that is known already. there is lots of room for improvements but capcom doesn’t care that much. remember, it took them 20 years to make blanka ball safe on hit!!!

Looking it the vid, it was what I assumed. Pretty much any crouch tech hit-confirm ball combo (or any ball combo in general) that allows you to connect with super afterwards (which is a LOT of combos, canned or not) means a SAFE ball. Finally. And this will make his corner pressure better too, since you can now mix in hit-confirm pokes into knockdown, along with the general jab xx elec pressure and throws.

Now I want to see application of his overhead and just what kind of followups he gets off of ex ball FADC, mid-stage and in corner. Fingers crossed for anything more than slide.

I’ve been wanting the elimination of the normal rockcrusher for a while now, as it does little but setup a feint for the OH rockcrusher. I can’t count the number of times when i’ve connected a j. hk with an intention to ub. mp -> ultra only to jump back. Sure that is just my execution fubar, but to be able to use Blanka’s great s. mp and maintain charge (not off a jumpin) would be great. Really, they could just keep normal rockcrusher as :f::mp:, and allow neutral and :b::mp: be his standard mp. Or if they don’t want make that change, they could give one additional frame of hitstun to cr. mk or cr. lk (likely mk, since lk is what we’d want) so he could have 2 frames to hit confirm ultra.

I don’t forsee any Blanka changes (for the better anyways) before 2012 rolls out, so what we are seeing is probably what we are getting. I’m not looking forward to facing good Hondas in 2012 though as that lp. headbutt means honda can just tank it out like super. While any additional changes were unlikely, Taku and Nishikin probably sealed our fate to any positive changes since they placed so well in the SBO qual. Oh well.

Who says we would lose hp ball cancel to super?

if the knockdown works like the blanka electricity then you’ll still beable to combo the super but you’ll have to use the lp activation to make it cmbo just like you use with the electricity super cancel.
