Transition from pad to stick [360 to mayflash universal]

Just a casual player but have grown fond of the stick layout, one thing I notice is that it is impossible to mash.
How do I practice hugo’s moves on the stick because I’m doing the same motions but with my hands instead of the thumb like previous.
I only plan on mainin hugo, dudley and makoto but use the others sometimes.

Would it be a good idea to just play sf2 with the stick since I heard that is less forgiving on inputs? Also I hold the stick underhanded with the pinky/ring finga clutchin the balltop or middle finger/ring finger clutchin the balltop so I’m not askin bout that
Basically would going back to the basics be a better idea or a faster one? or both.

  1. You shouldn’t be mashing on an arcade stick…ever. As difficult as it seems, you need to have full control over your stick at all times, which does not involve mashing, plus it helps you maintain your calm and control during tense situations.

  2. Find a good grip. You can experiment with a variety of grips, but I would recommend finding something that’s both comfortable and allows you to easily reach all 8 corners of the stick with ease, accuracy, and allows fluid motion for things like fireball motions, uppercuts, etc… A good starting guide is at eventhubs.

  1. Practice, practice, practice. Rinse and repeat until you’re dead. I cannot stress the importance of practice in order to become comfortable with the arcade stick. Think of it like learning an instrument. It’s rather difficult at the beginning, but if you keep at it, you’ll eventually develop enough skill and dexterity to make it feel as easy as breathing. If you don’t practice, or if you go back to pad, it’s very possible you’ll lose all that progress, so keep at it.

Studied what I was doin and found out everything. My sloppy execution, 360pad’s analogue size was probably very lenient on timing, although not as comfortable. Nerves as well it seems. That’s not goin tho I’m stuck with the nerves so my best bet’s just repracticing all the inputs with no panic ultras/supers.

Pro tip: Spam the stick and buttons when going from low attack to super or ultra.

It seems like if I be stiff the inputs mess up but if I move my arm with the hand then the inputs come out.
…That’s gonna be a big adjustment. I was so used to keeping my hand in the same place and using just a thumb.
On a controller you gotta be stiff but I’m startin to think…ah.

I get it now. There’s more space --…heh. I’m startin to think doing inputs without moving…the arm along with the hand…sigh…--*
Ok I see the problem lol.
