TR Perceptor review
Finally!! After all these years we are finally getting PROPER updated versions of classic G1 characters, and doing justice to their original forms with no libertyâs being taken.
Now youâre probably thinking, âWhat? We had the classics/generation/universe/etc lineâ.
Yes and many of those figures sorta tried to do their own thing. Instead of a proper G1 representation of Kupâs cybertronian Truck thingy, he got updated with a modern pick-up truck mode. Instead of a microscope, perceptor was also made into a truck of some kind. Scourge got made into a stealth bomber, Galvatron was a tank, etc. Even if these figures were still cool, things were just âoffâ about them.
Nearly all of the Titans Return releases have tried to stay true to how the characters are. Had figures like Hardhead and Chromedome been released in those earlier lines? Theyâd have probably gotten some modern vehicle forms instead, and not their rightful futuristic tank/car modes they should have.
And at LEAST a few of the beast headmasters would have lost their animal forms altogether and been made into vehicles too.
I think this happened to due to the philosophies of the lead toy designers of TF at the times.
The current lead guy, John Warden, is reportedly a super G1 fanboy and big on accuracy based on some interviews.
I think the mentality of 2008-2011 period was more âreal worldâ vehicles or modernization of the G1 alt mode with accurate robot modes.
In some cases, I liked those figures- Kup,Astrotrain,Optimus but for some like Galvatron it was the wrong way. I still think that was the worst CHUG toy of all time.
There were some good and accurate ones like CHUG Cyclonus.
One thing I like is that by keeping the G1 alt mode and using some Head/Targetmaster characters is that we are seeing a lot of variety of alt modes on the toy aisles.
One of the main limitations of the classics lines until recently was that the Decepticons were 90% jets.
With CW, we got land vehicles in Stunticons/Constructicons/Combaticons, beasts with Insecticons/Gnaw /Skullcruncher/Weirdwolf/Mindwipe, tablets with Rewind/Laserbeak/Ravage, and even a âboomboxâ style Soundwave.
Even my lord Galvatron finally gets to be a sci fi cannon again!
I dont mind him being a headmaster but his articulation and helmet make him a 8/10 instead of a 9.
Heâs still worlds better than the 2008 CHUG Galvatron though.
Also, everything is planned around a repaint.
Iâd bet money that Kup was chosen not just for the character, but so that he could be remolded into G1Crosshairs because their alt modes are pretty similar.
Iâd buy a TR G1 Crosshairs!
And i love the new titan returns Galvatron. Because of him i donât want to spend $100+ on 3rd party masterpeice versions, as i think he is a good representation. Iâm glad he is a voyager size too.
Also there are fixes for both the Galvatron Helmet and his arm cannon issue:
And two replacement helmets:

Power of the Prime Vote is underway
Order - Ultra Magnus
Chaos - Optimus Primal (WTF)
Order - Star Saber
Wild Card - Unknown Evil (Deathsauraus)
Generations and MP Magnus is damn near a perfect figure. MP Optimus Primal is perfect, MP Star Saber is perfect. I am surprised Thunderwing wasnât the Chaos winner.
I really wonder what they will do for another Generations Magnus?
February 1 is the day that the voting starts.
TR Brawn review
So i spotted the 30th anniversary Transformers movie on DVD at a wal-mart for $10.
Just watched it on my blu-ray player and the picture is Top-Notch! Almost like HD. Was curious to see if it was an improvement over previous releases but, the only other version i have to compare it to is the 20th anniversary DVD release from 11 years ago.
The older one is still nice but, this new DVD release image is âcleaner lookingâ with brighter, more vibrant colors. The Galvatron reformat sequence is a good example.
The new artwork still looks stupid though lol:

I got the Bluray version for xmas.
I had the Rhino 2000 dvd and the 20th anniversary Sony dvd (with the lenticular motion cover).
IMO its significantly better. I feel that Unicron in planet mode, all the landscapes/backdrops like Junkion/Lithone look really great.
The transformation of Megatron to Galvatron with the green grid/energy pops on my tv.
The second best thing was the 45 min behind the scenes featurette. Well filmed and it was nice to see a lot of the G1 actors talk about their experiences.
Finally grabbed this guy here. Iron Factoryâs Lord Scorpion. Basically a voyager-sized G1 masterpiece Scorponok for $80:

My Titans Return Decepticon Headmasters will now have a worthy leader :smokin:
That Scorponok is sick. Does it transform or bot only?
Yup. It has the city and scorpion alt modes just like the original.
:o
Yes and heâs pretty awesome in each mode. When my TR WierdWolf arrives in the mail, i plan on doing a few Season 4/Headmasters Decepticon cast groupshots.
Itâs just too bad we donât have a Voyager sized Fortress Maximus to match him and the Autobot Titan MastersâŚ

TR Trypticon
No way! That canât be real.
Doesânt look like much of an update at all over the original, just extra cosmetic detailing in the mold. And whats with the snipped tail??
Nope, thatâs it. G1 to a fault.
One of the greatest Transformers that ever was created is getting an MP figure.
DINOBOT . . . . . MAXIMIZE!!!
Interesting.
Not my favorite choice.
Is it going to be Metroplex/Fort Max sized?
And G1 to a fault is right. I love G1 trypticon, and jumped on that platinum release a while back but, i would expect something more updated than this. It just looks like the G1 toy with some re-paneling done.
