Chinese are making a mmorpg game for Transformers

While I like the overall profile of the Optimus design from AOE, that teaser proves that it’s a transformation pretty hard to achieve realistically.

So the first episode of the Combiner Wars series is out.

If you have expectations set high, let me gladly inform you to bring those down to sea level.

Got an onslaught of Decepticons in today:

MP Loud Pedal (Con repaint of Tracks): Definitely feeling it. My box was pinched, so opened it to make sure all was well inside.

Titans Returns Skullsmasher: Great homage to the original. Mine wasn’t a floppy mess like some other people.

Titans Returns Scourge: G1 inspired. My copy’s head won’t seat properly unless forced in. Outside of being a headmaster, it’s solid and the robot has a few transformation tricks up it’s sleeve.

Titan Returns Galvatron: If it wasn’t for the mask gimmick, It would have been the figure we always wanted.

Strongly recommend them all

Five minute episodes? I guess this is what happens when you don’t have humans involved in the story.

Bruh, I felt cheated. The first combiner fight literally was the most terrible TF fight I can recall. Why did Menasor sound like Will.I.Am? It seems so convoluted at this point. Combiners are just Cybertronians that merge into one being temporarily. This just seems all kinds of wrong.

Here is a pic of Galvatron next to Classics Prime. I am actually OK with this scale.

Beyond Good. Beyond Evil. Beyond your wildest Imagination…

TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE!

On August 8, 1986, TFTM was released into movie theatres. While it bombed financially and critically, it is still regarded as a cult classic by many fans around the world.

I only saw it many years later in 2000 so the reaction in me may not have been as dramatic had I seen it as a tiny tot in 1986.

In contrast to the first 2 seasons of the show, characters were harder -hitting, cursed, and died grisly deaths. A whole slew of new characters were introduced at the behest of Hasbro and many of the old fan favorites were callously pushed offscreen.

The animation by Toei is perhaps the best work they did in the G1 franchise with detailed artwork and fluid animation. While there were mistakes like the TV show, they were kept to a minimum.

The hard rock soundtrack also served to differentiate itself from the mostly orchestral sound of the show with Stan Bush’s “The Touch” , “dare” and Lion’s rendition of the theme being standouts. (Instruments f Destruction and nothings gonna stand in our way" are my runners up)

And the voice cast.
While Transformers in general had a very large and colorful cast of actors, the movie was one of the earliest to use celbrity VA.
Nowadays, this is overdone and many characters dont fit the voices, but TFTM VA fit their characters to a tee.

One would never expect to see a movie with Judd Nelson, Leonard Nimoy, and Orson Welles in the cast.

The death of Optimus Prime is wonderfully melodramatic and wrings the emotion out of you. This is probably the only scene in any TF movie to do so.

While it may be a 1/2 Star Wars homage, 1/2 toy commercial, it still blows the heck out of all the live action films. (not a high bar)

Happy 30th birthday TFTM!

TILL ALL ARE ONE!

Shit, never mind, I didn’t know about the other thread.

Very few movies based on a toyline EVER went all the way like this movie did.

Despite being a feature length toy commercial, this flick went above & beyond the call of duty with this one. The stellar animation for its time (still looks great today), star-studded cast of VAs, soundtrack which pretty much embodies the best of the 80’s, cool new characters, and the great action moments.

Will always love Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime because of this movie.

Steelbook on Amazon is 19.99 (for now)

If only they hadn’t gone with that stupid artwork. Looks like amateur work.

The 20th anniversary DVD artwork was pretty sweet. Should have done something similar to that. Or better yet, just gone with the original theatrical poster & VHS cover. Which was always cool, and fitting, seeing as how this is the 30th anniversary.

I collect Steelbooks, so it tickles my fancy.

Clip of the restoration for the movie.

The SDCC exclusives go on sale today. Showing Out of stock at the moment. Should go online anytime now

If only he wasn’t so ginormously huge!!

Seriously, whatever happened to the G1 Metroplex-to-Armada Unicron level scale? That was perfect. Bigbots but, not unwieldy huge.

Shame as that Fort max looks kinda badass. At least with Metroplex it was easy to turn him down due to his obnoxious size because he also just looked stupid, oddly proportioned, and just not a proper representation. This fort max however, looks like it could almost be a full replacement/improvement over the original.

Just imagine the cool sword poses he could probably do! Damnit…

Fort Max ranges from 150 to 180 for a largely uninspiring Yeah, it has electronics, but that’s about it.

I did get the Titans Return Titan Force Set. I really just wanted the Brainstorm and was marginally interested in Sentinel Prime. It’s really just insurance for Brainstorm. For the price, not bad. If I can get some cash back for Windblade, I’ll hold on to the other two for sure.

^^ I dunno. It seems like every 5 or so years, they come out with a new version. How many times can they really “remaster” the same movie?

The last blu-ray HD release they did a few years back still looks pretty damn good to me. And regarding past releases, the 20th anniversary DVD looked great as well (for DVD quality).
