I ve heard some fans theorize that the 3p are niche and they dont make as much as Hasbro…
However, at Botcon , it was reported that a silhouette of Superion was shown and allegedly Hasbro will make 2015 “the year of the combiner”
IMO Hasbro probably seeing what is popular with the 3p, and will attempt their own version.
Look how there was a 3p springer, Warbot Defender and then Hasbro made a damn good Springer update.
In the last few years, 3p combiners have included, 2 Devastators, 2 Predakings, 1 Superion, 1 Menasor,1 upcoming computron, 1 upcoming bruticus etc.
Hopefully Hasbro will learn from its mistakes with the recent Bruticus and make some better ones.
IMO the center/torso robot has to be bigger than the limbs, and they should lose the scramble city/interchangeable limb idea.
I hate the gorilla arm that FOC Blast off had.
That has got to be it. Like you said, Warbot Defender was decent, but Springer looked like it stepped straight out of the comic book.
I also agree about the Combiner. That was the thing Bruticus suffered from. They can keep the Scramble City thing, but like you said, the center robot MUST be larger by at least a pricepoint. Devastator can get away with it because it’s 6 robots (2 for the chest/torso and one per limb). The problem is really parts-forming or lack there of. I know they want them to be self contained, but that’s where it is hurting. You really won’t be able to do the combiner justice otherwise. The problem is that Hasbro addresses a different consumer. Where as us 25+ yr old enthusiast don’t mind recombining parts, the new school thought is to make it as simple for the consumer as possible. FansProject M3 (Not Menasor) basically explodes and reconnects all the parts from Motormaster, and adds the appropriate connectors to the limbs.
Do any of you guys own ToyWorld’s Orion (IDW Optimus Prime)? Wanted to know your thoughts, especially since the newly announced Hasbro one looks terrible.
As far as order goes…
I’m happy with the top 10 order, even if they are not my personal list or order.
Really just glad that 6 isn’t afraid of 7… or 8… or 9.
Most of my favs are actually on the list as Beast Wars has a stronger showing than I would have expected.
hmm… does Bay’s movie Bumble Bee = TF Prime’s Bumble Bee?
I got my iGear Raptor SkyWind (not Skywarp) on Friday. I’ll post pics when I get home from work. The only issue I have with the figure is repositioning the arms for transformation. It seems to be a very tight fit moving the arms through the fuselage. Other than that, it looks much better in person. The arms are still a little smaller than I would like, but with the null rays, it works. If a fan of the IDW F-22 Representation, it’s definitely worth picking up.
Agreed.
Behaviors can and do vary with characters, but general mindsets *usually *don’t, and Shockwave could pave several roads to Hell with his. (Good intent, after all, even if it was HELLA misguided)
Man I finally got to clean my shelves and I have no space anywhere :(. Also I ended up buying the rainmakers so that makes 7 seekers and the cone heads I didn’t think I would like them that much. I wanted to buy the dinobots when I saw them but opted not to for now. I will be getting the Masterpiece Bumblebee though.
I always go buy the “How To Train Your Dragon” areas of toy stores and general stores for rares to re-sell and Transformers are right next to them. I’ve looked and looked, I’ve tried to buy them a couple times, but walk away each time for various reasons.
Any respectable looking toy is WAY overpriced…
Any affordably priced toy is crap…
And the big pie in the face, the dinobots were such a small part of the movie, that I can’t look at the toys and say “OMG what Slag did was so cool, I should get the toy”. All I remember of the dinobots in the movie was a half cocked ‘punch in the face’ from Optimus, and then watching a giant metal triceratops fly up in the air thanks to MBay stealing the Doomsday weapon from Man of Steel.
Add in that I havewn’t seen a Galvatron figure anywhere, only one Lockdown toy, and everything else is 90% Grimlock/Optimus…its just a poor toy line. I’m not even getting into the low grade toys I mentioned in the movie thread…
The AoE Galvatron figure is in the Generations toyline, and the GE line isn’t all that common in physical walk-in stores.
That explains the homogeneity. Online you’re in luck, though.
