Yeah, at a $80 price tag, I don’t see why Hasbro did this to themselves. The ROTF version is borderline perfect. I would have preferred them release the Buster Prime model, removed the blades, and engineered a much better “flight suit” from the trailer.

Like SG said, all that’s in this line is the Voyager Megs and Shockwave. Starscream, Barricade, and “The Dreads” may be an honorable mentions. So the Autobot lineup is an easy pass for me.

Prime happens to be weak in this line as well. Not terrible, but the other figs are better representations.

I like the prime designs a lot. Not sure if I enjoy the show yet, but the toys are pretty awesome. These will likely go on the same shelf as my animated stuff. I kinda feel like they’re in the same line, just prime is a bit more sharp where animated has a more rounded cartoony feel.

RODDY IS ON TRUCK FOR DELIVERY TODAY. I swear if I get one more delay due to adverse weather he’s going to bust out of his package and unleash the matrix on some ups bitches.

I like them too. I just wonder how Bulkhead will look. I think they did the faux window treatment for Optimus

Regarding Rodimus:

I got mine…and…no problems.

No defects, no warped parts, no double hands, no missing face, no floppy chest, no floppy back, no paint scuffing.

The transformation is difficult and requires a LOT of care. It has steps that you don’t see and the feet are the biggest problem due to their stiffness. Really, this is where the alignment issues come into play. You either get these right or you fuck up everything. Essentially the main rooted joint needs to go out all the way. The second joint closer to the foot allows you to wiggle the part into place.

I even crammed him into the Rodimus Prime alt mode and pulled it back out with force.

No scuffing, no paint scratches, all is well on the western front.

He holds his guns poorly. The hands are designed poorly. The codpiece doesn’t really go anywhere smart in alt mode. It just folds away clumbsily. There are panels on the bottom of the car mode that are supposed to tab in, I suggest not doing so. That does seem to put unnecessary strain on the toy. You can do it, but you don’t have to, so I recommend against it.

I can see how a lot of people who think they are careful with their toys will end up breaking parts on this. It IS tricky. There are things you have to learn and/or realign as you do the transformation. I think a lot of the negativity on this soured my experience unjustly. So, take that for what you will. The toy, er, collectible is fun. Waiting for the US release is going to get you an incomplete Rodimus. The trailer is really worth it if you’re dedicated to getting MP figures. My only issue with it is how I’m ever going to display it somewhere…

hey DK, can you give me some good tips on how to avoid these?

my buddy got his in last night and got the scuffing to happen. he’s extremely careful with his stuff too, and basically told me there’s no way to avoid it if you want to put him in winnebago mode. if you know something that would prevent me from doing this to mine, it would be much appreciated.

knowing you’ve transformed yours without the scuff, can you diagnose what he did wrong? is there a hidden step or something that people are missing?

I think it’s just happenstance. At first, I tried to be really careful putting the car into the trailer. It wouldn’t fit easily when I tried to be extra careful, so, I lined it up and gave it a shove. I’m not usually like that, but I just said…whatever and crammed it in. I must have done this three times while trying to line it up just right. When i was done, I just pulled it out. No scuffs, no marks. I’m not saying I did it right mind you, I just think that it’s random whether or not you’ll have an extra thick layer of paint to pull against.

The whole set up is very tight. The tolerance is effectively zero. When you put him in, make sure that you have collapsed the spoiler into its “Rodimus” setting. That helps.

The only thing you can really do is to sand down that portion of the trailer. Paint has a thickness and even a little more room would help immensely.

Now as for scuffs on the spoiler, you can actually use an eraser to lightly wipe them off. Your buddy can get that red off his spoiler like this.

Thanks DK. I was going for the US release regardless. Good stuff man.

Here’s Peaugh’s video review, and he goes through the steps to remedying that. Basically what DK had suggested, in sanding down. The chrome exhaust piping on the trailer can be removed simply by pulling them off (they are tabbed in). He then gets some sand paper and carefully sands down the area where the spoiler fin goes.

thanks guys, I’ll check into everything before I attempt winnebago mode. I should have him in a couple hours.

Hey **Cracka J, **

As a fellow TF fan living in Chicago, are there any local stores that you frequent that get new TFs?
I live in Hyde Park, so any places near there, downtown, or lincoln park area.
I know about bbts and all, but sometimes I feel like hunting for Tfs lol.

I’m in palatine so I’m a bit out of the city. The only place I know that stocks imports is toynk toys, Collectible Toys | Action Figures at Toynk Toys.
They’re out in the burbs, close to schaumburg/290/ohare.

You should post over at the tfw local threads too, if you need a hookup or lead on something those guys can usually hook you up.
Illinois Transformers Sightings - TFW2005 - The 2005 Boards

I know there’s quite a few board members that live in the downtown and surrounding areas.

Also, got my roddy and all is well. I followed peaugh’s review that psychosquall posted and decided to just sand the wing slots down before taking the risk. It allowed for enough space, no scuffing, and the sanding is barely noticeable (unless you are looking for it). He doesn’t roll as nice as I’d like, which is surprisingly my only real complaint.

So take that as you will. I had no broken parts out of box. Following peaugh’s transformation steps I had no issues. And aside from 1 sanding mod (that I purposely decided to take myself to avoid risk), he’s a great figure. I actually love the bigass trailer cause it pays a nice homage to his alt mode and is an awesome turret display. Is it worth the $$? If you love rodimus, yes. If you are just a fan of hot rod, I’d suggest waiting for the tru version, but for rodimus fans it is really worth the extra $$.

Finally, an Autobot from the DOTM Line worth buying

FIRE IT UP

You are one cool dad!

lol that’s pretty awesome man

The Voyager Sentinel Prime shown at the Toy Fair is sweet. I also liked the Leader Class Ironhide. A shame that there are no Decepticon Leader Classes at the moment.
