achan and I are going, and I’m taking my son too. Out of all of it, I’m hoping to get Frank Welker to autograph my Masterpiece Megatron package.
I’m hoping I can roll with Scott McNeil to a bar where he’ll sing Metallica at karaoke. Or buy some completely-unrelated-to-him porn for him to sign. Or drunkenly ask him to do Dinobot lines in Piccolo’s voice. Yes, these are all things I and people I know have done with/had happen around Scott McNeil. Dude is awesome.
Awesome. It’ll be good to meet some of you then.
That’s pretty cool, but this is 400 times cooler. God, I would love to get my hands on one of these.
I saw that guy’s work on TFW. It does look really nice and what makes it so special is that it’s an actual figure as opposed to an upgrade kit (not that those are bad).
According to that article, it says the creator is going to be selling the mold as a garage kit. I bet it’s going to be really expensive but I’d love the opportunity to own one.
Speaking of Botcon, I realized the greatest thing that could happen to me while attending - to meet David Kaye aka the voice of Beast Wars Megatron. He’s the only reason why I started to like Beast Wars in the beginning. At first I was very apprehensive about the show but once I heard his voice, it just locked in. I’d like to get his autograph and a picture with him.
edit: holy shit, I didn’t know he did the voice for Clank in the Ratchet & Clank series. Sweet!
What are the dealer prices usually like for TF items @ Botcon? I’m sure they range all over the place but are prices like really expensive or can you find stuff for a good price? I’m still trying to piece together my wifes G1 Omega Supreme. All she has left is the main body/tank. I checked Wheeljack’s Lab for parts and I’d have to spend almost $120.00 just for the parts I need.
Stay away from Wheeljack’s Lab. There have been a lot of complaints surfacing in the past year from people that have dealt with him before. I only bought one thing from him. Thankfully, I got what I paid for. Other people, not to much. According to a lot of customers, he’ll sell you damaged figures and parts when he advertises them as “excellent” or “like new” and he harasses you if (a) you leave negative feedback, or (b) confront him about it.
The only good thing about WLJ is that the prices for parts and accesories tend to be lower than other ebay sellers/stores. But it’s ultimately a crapshoot.
That’s good information to know, thanks. Any other recommendations for parts? I’m pretty much done with Ebay, maybe I should just try some of the TF forums?
Any TF news site that has a sale/trade forum.
The one I frequent most (TFW2005) has a junker/parts forum which you can find here.
So who has MP Grimlock
I know Daidoji probably has it already…even though it…hasn’t been… “released” yet? :wonder: Or has it
And on a random note…is it just me, or does the one garbage pail kid in my av bear resemblance to Starscream?
whoa, a Valkyrie Garbage Pail Kid. wtf?
WTF indeed. Leave it to me for all the “WTF’s.”
Hey Satomi you work on that one yet
I’d love to go just for the express purpose of finally meeting both you and Christina (and mini-con Mech! :D) in person, but I’m not sure at the moment. Money’s gonna be a bit tight for me this year, and I’m already planning on making another trip out of state sometime. We’ll see. I hope I can work something out. ^^
BotCon prices are all over the map, but the 07 one had a lot more higher prices than I was used to, but it might be different.
I agree with Satomiblood, stay away from Wheeljack’s Lab. http://www.transformerland.com/ is a site I posted before, they were a great resource for me. Although the majority of their stuff has a stock photo, what I got was in very good condition.
New Law Restricts Re-Sale of Kid’s Products
In case you missed the thread I posted earlier…
MP Grimlock’s not out until March. I’m hoping to pick one up @ Botcon. Might be my only toy purchase.
?? I recall you and your brother stopping by our place in Hollywood (about eight years ago) and you met Christy. In fact you guys dropped off a G2 Optimus Prime and some Beast Wars figures for me. Unfortunately I was at work and missed you guys. You don’t remember, or am I going crazy? But yeah, it would be nice to meet you guys finally. It’s been like what - almost 10 years now?
Thanks for that link. I’ll be checking it out soon.
So, I’ve really been on a custom Gobots kick lately.
Here’s a WIP shot of Cy-Kill:

I’d love to see how it turns out.
Speaking of Go-Bots, how much longer are we gonna have to wait until Matchbox (or whoever holds the license or trademark) re-releases that line? It’s like the last of the 80’s toys (besides Thundercats) that has yet to make its return.
I wanna see it get trounced on and smashed into nothingness like it did back then.
Hasbro bought out Tonka sometime in the early 90’s. The names and Gobot trademark belong to Hasbro, but the actual molds and character designs belong to Bandai. This is why there hasn’t been an official reissue of G1 Jetfire either since Bandai owns the rights.
David Kaye is really cool in person. All you have to do is ask and he’ll hang out with you over lunch or coffee, or whatever. He’s a serious coffee junkie. $2 for a cup of joe will get you some good stories on the side.
Prices can get bad. The trick is to not go after high profile items, but rather things that you simply can’t find in your area. If you’re planning on spending anything…plan on at least $500 in spending cash.
