I can’t speak for the rest of the fandom, but yeah, some, not all, of those toys are kinda crappy.
Powerlinking Energon characters just simply looked stupid in most cases, with some exceptions. I love Tow-Line and Rodimus, but can’t stand Roadblock (sold his ass off).
4 Demolishors eh? I <3 that mold, and only have two of it, sadly. Love the En combiners, love a couple of the Armada toys (weakest of the 3 lines imo), and much much love for Dreadwind/Mirage from Energon.
You have Cybertron Snarl, Sideways, and Galvatron. I hate you. :arazz: :lovin:
Were you at BotCon? Should have said “hello” to me! I was busy running a booth, though.
Technically, I have all of the toys from these lines. :wgrin:
You know, I most likely did. My fiance and I were at BotCon having a damn good time. I didn’t buy a whole lot, mostly filled in some G1 holes like Computron and Grimlock.
How were your sales, as a dealer? I was kind of surprised overall at the show room. Prices were really high overall. The vintage market is really picking up some steam (as evidence by the prices and difficulty in finding popular figures).
I stopped caring about getting every figure after Beast Wars. It’s just too much, and I’m still trying to finish off JP G1, which is the priority. I missed those Cybertron toys either because my area didn’t get the assortment (Snarl/Sideways) or I was too stubborn in waiting for a price cut that never happened (Galvatron). WTF @ the prices on Cybertron toys on EBay…
You may have. I was one of the twins @ the Aegis Reflector booth (they spelled it wrong, philistines), the short-haired one. I kept trying to look at the Screen Names on the badges, but they printed them so very small. We had tons of Beast Wars, you couldn’t have missed it, lol.
I did really well on the preview night, and made probably 1/4 of that Saturday and again on Sunday. People were extremely picky this year. I agree about high prices, I had to run around when I got a tiny break to find anything decent. A lot of people were lenient $5-10, maybe 15, but booths like TFSource wouldn’t budge. I think I only got ripped off on one item, but I filled some holes in my recent collection. The only older thing I got was Dinoking, which I bought while the dealers were setting up. We sold out of all David Kaye-Megatrons, and a lot of the show characters like Blackarachnia. (still!! even with a better painted version out on the market)
Prices picking up steam? More like a full-blown inferno. Just the last 6+ months things like Powermasters, even incomplete, have jumped probably 150%. It’s getting to the point where people are blowing 3 months salary on something the size of their palm. So much for the older, cheaper, days gone by, where stuff like Magnus and Metroplex only cost $30.
I brought Abominus home. No one was biting @ $500. Lotta people looked, but no sale. =/ “Oh that’s the best looking giftset I’ve ever seen!” Then buy it, cheapskates! XD
Warpticon: Eh, I think everyone else I wanted to see missed me too. No biggie.
So I’m thinking of getting into the TF comic book series, particularly the Dream Wave series. Any recommendations? Also, any word on HOS and when it’s due out if it isn’t already? Thanks.
The DW series was pretty fantastic. It actually focused on omg THE TRANSFORMERS instead of looking at them from boring human POV like the new series and the new movie do.
I think the DW trades are being republished by the new label. Definitely track them down, what little there is. The stories were cool and the art is equally great.
Phil Lamarr the greatest black (and one of the greatest period)voice actors of our time is enough to get me to give it a glance. Weird Al, Blackarachnia (my baby CREE) and Ultra Magnus just sealed the deal.
Although if previous new cartoons are any indication, the first couple of episodes will suck arse and if it makes it to another season, it will gradually improve.
I posted a link to his Superion back in December. Good stuff. Anytime you take something Gundam related and make it into something that *isn’t *Gundam is cool.
On a side note, watching TF following the animated movie makes me hate Rodimus’ character even more. I don’t know why. He was cool as Hot Rod but Ultra Magnus had many of Prime’s qualities. They should’ve stuck with that idea.
