Transformers Thread 2.0

I really wanted it because of the trailer lol
I never owned a Prime with the trailer and so this is huge for me.

But you saying the transformation is the best part is really hyping me up, I’ll crack him out of the box today after work. So he can relax with Grapple, Sideswipe and Wheeljack.

They way that the chest does it’s thing is quite honestly something that I didn’t expect. If you’ve owned a Prime before, the transformation has become pretty stale at this point.

Well it’s been about 25 years… So I’m ready to be amazed again. :sunglasses:

Finally, the gang’s all here.

Top Gun X Transformers Figure revealed

Honestly $50 well saved.

As an 80’s kid, i’ll always have an appreciation for G1 bots but, find myself being more and more conflicted at which i want to collect. The Original, or one of these modern CHUG representations that nail the character. I find myself choosing the CHUG equivalent mostly lately.

G1 reissues being so pricey doesn’t help. I spotted Astrotrain a few times and they wanted like $45 for him, when he should have been more at the $25’ish pricepoint. Sad to say but, the G1’s often come close to pricing themselves out of the market altogether.

However, there are many G1 bots that have aged well and have no need of a modern representation. Like G1 Metroplex and Typticon that still look Great. As does G1 Predaking. And i still love the Decepticon Headmaster Trio (WeirdWolf, Skullcruncher, and Mindwipe). Edit: Also G1 Abominus, my favorite combiner.

The volley ball sells it for me lol. I’m not getting but it’s a nice touch lol

My thoughts are that any figure that you see in that photo WILL have an MP release based on our current track record. While I love the Beast Wars(:us: ), I am gonna have to hold out. Seeing Scorponok and Rattrap with Dinobot, Blackarachnia, Cheetor, Primal, and Tigatron (amongst many others) in that image just gives me hope that they will at least finish Season 1 in the MP line.

Ahh I don’t care about Masterpieces lol Just let me get the cheapo toys.

I’m with you though. There is something to be said for the amount of love fans are getting across the spectrum.

Sidenote - It struck me today that a toy for Skyfire (as he was animated) was not officially released until 34 years later. It shocks me that it took that long.

And what a beast he was lol

Really solid breakdown.

Masterpeice figures are not only a lot more expensive but, also overly engineered and thus, pain in the arses to transform.

Also the last time i bothered with the MP-Line was back in the day with Masterpeice Rodimus Prime. At the time, Takara was trying to rip off fans by manufacturing them with CHEAP plastic.

I suppose they figured since adults would be wanting these figures for the most part, and adults usually take care with their figures, that they could get away with forgoeing durability altogether, yet still charging the same Premium. MP Rodimus for example developed stress marks in the plastic even after being carefully transformed. In the end, i threw him up on e-bay figuring it was only a matter of time before i destroyed him by accident.

Fast-forward 7 or so years and now the CHUG lines have caught up with Masterpeice, in terms of being good looking representations of our favorite characters. So yeah, i was DONE with the Masterpeice line and never looked back.

I still hate Wheeljacks windshield in car mode.
It’s giving me fits lol

Honestly, the most recent MPs are actually quite intuitive. However, they have a large number of steps.

That figure was a shitstorm on its own just by its joint design. I had the Hasbro version. I sold the main figure and kept the Targetmaster.

I would disagree on that front. They lack the overall finish of the MP line. A key example is the ER version Grapple vs. the MP counterpart. Don’t get me wrong, they are really good releases, but they are in a different category. It’s like comparing a Star Wars Black Series figure Darth Vader vs. a Hot Toys Vader. MP line has come far ahead from where they once were. I can see why from a cost perspective why some would move away from the CHUG line than the MP. The fact that they are “close enough” is what pushed me into just getting the MP line pretty much exclusively.

I was pleased to find Grapple in the Optimus instruction sheet.

LUCKY ME

When I went into Target earlier today I came across the Seeker 2 Pack. It’s nice but it’s practically a modified version of the older CHUG figure. It shocks me that they didn’t include any waist articulation.
