SIEGE Springer review

Yes! G1 2.0 continues! Easily the BEST mainline interpretation of G1 Springer.

That one that came out back in 2013 for the Classics "thrilling 30 line? Yeah, no. It wasn’t terrible but, far from great.

The Siege figure is impressive, but the Classics version is by far one of the best triple changes ever done. This one is practically perfect if you are looking for a G1 2.0 version. The main reason why I don’t buy this stuff is because it is G1 2.0. If I want an articulated version of the show character, I’d rather just put my money into the MP line.

What do you have against G1 2.0? Classic characters, as they were meant to be, without costing an arm & a leg for the Masterpeice or 3rd Party treatment.

I am not against it per se. It’s just that for my collection, if I want an articulated update to a character, I just go the MP route. I definitely see why someone would admire this.

I think Hasbro’s mindset is that while MP are considered the be all end all in terms of G1 updates, those sales are basically the hardcore fans buying from Takara and importing.

Whereas if they do a very literal G1 update and sell it in Walmart casual parents who were G1 fans would be more likely to buy it than researching MP and buying them through online specialty shops where the price would be a potential turnoff.

IMO Hasbro did it backwards. They did more updated G1 toys with newish alt modes first and then the literal updates(SIEGE). They should have probably done it other way around.

That being said ,I think Ironhide was a much welcome toy in this line.
I’m definitely buying Ratchet and Mirage but am unsure about other figures since I generally am happy with my other Classic/Generations figures.

I have bought variants from the Classics/Henkei series but will get Ratchet (who I don’t have). I will get Mirage since I have Crasher for the older Mirage mold which is excellent btw. Jetfire is a question mark for me because he look terrific I should watch reviews on the guy.

Christ! Hasbro/Takara are really out for $$$$$! Exploiting my G1 love!

Long live G1 2.0!

Anyone recognize this interesting, 3rd party combiner bot? It’s obviously not Voltron, despite the description lol, but thats all i know:

Yeah. I saw this earlier thanks to Facebook algorithm and was like “holy fuck”. Then I saw the price point and was like “woooow”. Then I saw it was one of those Kickstarter/crowd funded style figures and scoffed. I hate that kind of model for limited edition/runs is becoming more common place. Especially among multi-million and billion dollar companies. It’s why I stopped kicking anything from Cool Mini or Not.

It looks fucking awesome though.

I would go for it but their are two things stopping me:

  1. It’s in the WFC Style and not G1
  2. MP Prime v3 comes out the same time the funds will be drafted.

Honestly Hasbro, they should know better,

Why does that Unicron look like it’s blind in one eye? Or rather, sunken in.

Anyway, we already have ENOUGH Unicrons to choose from. Like this guy here:

I thought you want that 2.0 tho?

Trying to get my hands on Red Wing (my obsessions with having different seekers) as well as Lancer for the fembots. Lancer not really my favorite color scheme wise but eeh.

Probability just snorted some coke.

I do and what about those past Unicron Releases, didn’t make them Good G1 Representations? We already have enough cool Unicrons.

Also in case you don’t remember, or i didn’t talk about it enough, i don’t like obnoxiously huge bots. They’re a pain in the ass in own, display, storage, etc, etc.

Ever since i bought Car Robots/RID G1 Reissue “Brave Maximus” back in the day. His size was impressive, sure but, he was also a pain in the ass to own. He couldn’t fit on ANY of my display shelves, none of my storage bins, etc. In the end my way of “storing him” was putting him in a thick garbage bag and putting him in a corner of the room on the floor. Simply put, there’s a limit to where sheer size ceases to be impressive and starts to be, again, a pain in the ass to own.

These are meant to be toys afterall, NOT goddamn statues! I think they lose sight of that lately. G1 had it PERFECT with their Metroplex, Trypticon, and Scorponok scale. Large and impressive without being a bitch to own.

The recent Titans Return Trypticon thus far has been the most tempting of these massive new bots but, i still didn’t bother with that one (might in the future but not now).

Not gonna lie, if they redid the Micromaster base for Groundshaker, I’d be all on that.
