What mistake? The Leader class scale they’ve been having prior to Seige was Perfect! Not too big, nor small, and also fit well with the Masterpeice line-up to boot. Guys like Titans Return Blaster fits nicely with those like MP Prime.
I think you’re missing what they are going after. In context, It’s not that the figure’s themselves were the mistake, it was the scale. Prime and Megatron weren’t that big in comparison to the rest of their respective teams. CW Megatron towered over CW Prime. Eventually we got a comparable figure in scale, but there were also multiple releases in that same line. Siege is just honestly an attempt to make it one nice cohesive display. This is also why the Studio Series is all about scale as well.
For most CHUG collectors, Siege is where it’s at right now.
Also, mixing the lines is hard to do with most of the CHUG figures because of aesthetics. TR Blaster is the right-ish height, but it’s only a stand-in. If/when Takara does a MP version, it will go the way of the dodo especially with the toon treatment.
I just expect my “Leader class” figures to be a good size, and comparable somewhat to the MP guys. Which they thankfully have been up till now. Not Voyager’s masquerading as Leader Classes.
And TR Blaster is badass! It’s similar to POTP Optimus In that, just because better versions exist now or in the future, it doesn’t take away from what it gets right. Only way TR Blaster could be any better is if he took cassettes. Can honestly say I’ve no desire to upgrade to another Blaster. Tis’ the beauty of these recent G1 2.0 lines.
I would agree that at that price point, it shouldn’t be a voyager class figure with add-ons.
It’s a solid figure, but just isn’t my cup of tea. It seems too far on the toy end. It is probably a good example of upgrading the 30 year old figure. Takara’s already made MP cassette molds for Steeljaw so Blaster as an MP is more of a when than if.
In hand shots of MP BW Megatron
Saturday is when it starts to ship.
Just got the $40 special version of Ramjet. Outside of the shoulder issues, I’d have been pissed if I paid retail price when it came out. It may have been probably the worst MP release I have put my hands on.
That HEADSCULPT on that Purple Dino! Especially like the “scales” detail.
Seems like the Beast Wars MPs are killing the detail more so than the G1 offerings.
I wouldn’t go that far. But that Dino mode looks great!
Alright so after getting my hands on this guy, it’s a solid figure but it’s got some fragility to it. It’s not much different in transformation from the original toys, but manipulating the panels are where I can easily see this thing breaking from play. Very little die cast bit the paint makes it look like metal all the way around. It’s also been sculpted to include reptilian scales. It’s very clean in both modes and articulated well given what you are working with. I’ll only paid $225 shipped via Amazon and it is definitely worth that price. At US retailers though, I’d still recommend, but mainly for the BW fan. The only real negative this thing has are the panels I have mentioned. I was already in for all of the BW MPs, but this one sealed the deal.
. . … and as a bonus this was part of today’s haul
Is that the Best Buy exclusive steel book ?
It is. The worst thing about it is that Paramount’s digital copy on Vudu does not work with MoviesAnywhere.
$225 shipped is much better than what BBTS is charging ($300). Still…as much as I love beast wars megatron…that’s just too much.
I almost got the dinobot one a few years back though.
Almost.
If they remade transmetal rattrap though? I’d be on that shit immediately
Also, I generally don’t like steel books but that is slick. I really like it.
I honestly stopped buying from domestic retailers for imports. Not only is it cheaper, but you get it faster. Megatron shipped out on April 1 at 9 AM in Japan and got it yesterday afternoon. I get the overhead factor, but paying roughly $100 more for the same item makes no sense as a consumer.
I also wasn’t expecting Megatron to come with the rifle he had in the episode “Call of the Wild”. Probably will never display him with it, but it’s a nice add on. The one other surprise (negative) was that it does not come with a stand. That should have honestly have been included, especially at that price point.
So with Blackarachnia next I would love to see either Inferno or Scorpinok get the green light.
I’m assuming that Blackarachnia will have swapping allegiance insignias.
I doubt that she would have that feature. She never became a “Maximal” until Season 3 and that was the Transmetal II version.
Since Blackarachnia was done, I don’t see any other Beast Wars MP being a problem. Terrorsaur may have been a close second. They literally shattered expectations with Dinobot and the upcoming Blackarachnia.
Interesting
Super Megatron may be a retool of TR Galvatron. Not sure on the other though.
God dammit. BBTS got In the Masterpiece OG Cheetor in stock. It looks so clean and nice.
And it’s only $75
Gotta stay strong.
That Star Convoy looks like a neat retool but, POTP Optimus is still the best version of the Mold.
Edit: I could see it being released a 4th time, this time retooled as Power Master Optimus. Perhaps have the cab’s robot mode look like HI-Q.
