producers are far more to blame than directors.
what you mean their are company’s out there that actually keep full control over their franchise
cough not Capcom cough
yeah, hasbro is super hands on with the franchises they lend out. lol@ gi joe renengade almost blowing up china. hasbro said fuck no to that…blow up russia instead.
lol…cant blow up the country that makes your companies toys.
I think you’re thinking of GI Joe: Resolute.
yeah your correct.
HAHAHA
I can actually picture a board room full of execs and lawyers reading the script shaking their heads in disapproval whilst Spielberg on the opposite end is trying to stop Bay from opening his mouth.
lol. i totally can see him trying to blow up china like gi joe resolute almost did. this mofo would do sumtin stupid like have a robot fight in a fireworks factory.
One of the many great things about Beast Wars was that even when they had head swap characters the characters themselves has so much personality to them it didn’t matter. Also they did a lot of retooling. I mean it’d be impossible to confuse Blackarachnia for Tarantulus.
When the movies did this, though, it was confusing as heck since almost non of the bots got characterization. We had multiple versions of the Constructicons running around all over the place at the same time. I had to check the wiki to figure out why parts of Devestator (the second bot names Devestator in as many movies) were running around while Devestator was also all together.
So I’m reading the responses in this thread and I couldn’t help but notice how many people stated that they were either meh or disliked the 1st TF movie, hated the 2nd TF movie, yet SAW the 3rd one.
And then you wonder why it’s making so much money at the box office?!
It’s the millions of people like you, the millions who love Transformers, yet hated what Michael Bay and his team of writers did with the franchise, but gave them your money anyway because it’s Transformers.
If you liked the movies, fine. I’m not talking to you, dont get your panties in a bunch.
But if you didn’t like MB’s direction, then don’t show him by whining in a thread on a fighting game forum. Show him by NOT GIVING HIM YOUR MONEY.
…like me. All my friends went to see the movie while I stayed home and played Marvel and read A Game of Thrones. Time much better spent IMO.
Still haven’t managed to get myself drunk enough to watch that movie yet
It’s easiest to form an opinion on a movie if you actually see it.
I enjoyed the first one even with its flaws so I saw it in theater multiple times, bought the Blu-ray and plenty of tie in merchandise.I hated the second one so I only saw it the one time and then refused to buy anything ROTF related what so ever. This third movie may likely suffer the same fate.
Ok you want my reasons?
- He only makes movies that appeal to a certain fanbase. The movies that I seen freaking appeal to teenagers who don’t really watch movies and to people that like to see shit get blown up. The Island had freaking Ewan McGregor and Scarlette Johansson, two very attractive people according to traditional standards. How was the movie? Absolute shit. And that $36 million in the states proved my point. And Ewan McGregor is actually a decent actor. WTF? How in the hell did you make a good actor look bad? Because the man can’t direct shit.
You may call it genius, I call it criminal.
Why this guy is making money out the ass is WAYYYYY beyond me. Eventually people are going to catch on and start saying “OMG Michael Bay made this movie… lets watch something else…”
- He can’t make a decent movie without casting all of this damn talent. And even in Armageddon, which he definitely had a solid cast, it still wasn’t very good… I mean, you got Ben Afleck, Bruce Willis, Steve Buscemi, Michael Clark Duncan, etc. All proven actors. But in the end… still can’t make a good movie. Fail Michael Bay. Just fail.
And must I say this again? How in god’s name did you make me hate Ewan McGregor?
- Bad Boys 1 and 2… -___-… Do I need to say more? Seriously, I absolutely HATED Bad Boys. They are on my top 5 worst movies list with Next, Street Fighter: the Legend of Chun-li and Dudley Do-Right.
If you gonna have Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in the movie, can you at least make the movie funny? I laughed like once during the movie… then I fell asleep…
- Those damn slowdowns… In every movie that I saw, there is like 20-30 mins of slowdown. Half of that is absolutely unnecessary. Seriously, in Transformers 3, the chick who played Carly walked outside and they had a slowdown scene for like 30 secs of her mouth wide open… SERIOUSLY!?
And another thing that made me hate Bad Boys. They had a slow down scene when Martin Lawrence got shot in the ass… -_____-… Yeah thats real… um… necessary…
Maybe thats not his fault, but he is the boss. He can say "Hey lets edit some of Rosie’s slowdown scene. Lets make it quicker. We already have 2 hours of footage. Why make it 2 hours and 45 minutes?
- He definitely has potential. We seen it in The Rock. So why are you making these below average movies? Why? Whats the purpose of me wasting my money??
Those are the reasons why I believe Michael Bay is a piece of shit director.
And quite frankly, I thought this forum was public for members. Why do I need to STFU? Is my opinion not welcomed?
Been a TF fan for years like the first, disliked the second liked the third. Can’t say much for the plot since G1 episodes were never tied together as compared to BW or Animated.
Again at least it isn’t like The Last Airbender I died a little inside after watching that movie.
Sent from Hueco Mundo using Garganta Talk.
Well when your opinion boils down to “Badboys need I say more?” Yea…it’s not very welcome. We still don’t know why you don;t like his movies really. The only things we know is you dont find them funny and you don’t seem to like explosions…those are the only concrete things you nailed down. Everything else is vague as fuck. “He hires good actors but his movies still suck see what i mean? Armageddon need I say more?” Doesn’t tell us shit. See I’m using examples of why your post sucks. Do the same for Bay’s movies please.
Lol save the grumpy old man shtick for the kids…
He did 3 movies since then, and one was a sequel. Armageddon was horrible, Pearl Harbor was a joke, Bad Boys II was decent. Then he gets Transformers.
While I understand your point, you’re comparing apples to oranges my friends. Production cost are different from giving a character personality.
-
His fanbase just happens to be a good chunk of the populace. You may call it criminal, but its actually brilliant. I doubt that people will really ever say, Oh Bay made this movie, lets watch something else, because people are visually stimulated. They’ll at least watch it once just to see what its possibly about.
-
He does a pretty solid job with the talent he has, I blame more of it on the writing of the material. People blame the director because he executes the screenplay. In those movies, I didn’t find the acting terrible, heck The Island wasn’t that bad of a movie, the story is usually what makes you cringe.
-
Never seen them, cause they didn’t interest me (which is what you do if something you don’t like/ interested in is released)
-
I like the slowdowns, but the one used in TF3 was FULL RETARD. I actually did facepalm cause I thought it was cool in the trailer, but in the movie it was definitely forced. Otherwise (action parts and what not), they are well timed.
-
He does because people hand him lemons and he can’t really make lemonade. The Rock was by far more impressive because of the way that the story was told through out. Clearly Bay is a director that needs a tight screenplay in order to function correctly
No need to STFU boss, I disagree with a number of people points (including yours), but keep it civil as we all have a right to an opinion. That’s what forums are made for (at least we thought so in the beginning).
you know gi joe resolute is the cartoon one right? its not the live action movie.
I liked the first. I thought the 2nd was rushed and I didn’t like it that much.
I liked the 3rd quite a bit.
This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:
Oh look! More people being pretentious about a movie director. That’s a first for SRK.
LOL, what he said
