Training Room Tips

I’m curious on how folks use this mode. As in like, do you do certain moves 50x on 1P side and then do it again on 2P side, what do you do to improve your execution?, do you enable the CPU dummy?, do you enable all block?, etc. I know I’m not the only one that is curious about this as well.

Reason why I’m asking is cause I find myself not able to do certain moves in certain situations and certain sides of the screen.

Example:
[]I have trouble doing DP on 1P side, but on 2P I’m a savage!
[
]I have trouble doing HCB on 2P side, but on 1P I’m a savage!

I still have trouble, from time to time, with ADDF with Magneto on 2P side, he throws out his Magnetic Blast.
Don’t get me wrong though, I can still do the moves but it’s just not as on point as if I was on the other side and it just feels so awkward to me.

I did notice that when I play with Sentinel I can do his dp.Rocket Punch in a combo, but just standing still I can’t do it to save my life.

Anyway, any tips will be appreciated along with any other info that’ll help out with my, and anyone else, execution.

hmm it really depends on the goal i try to accomplish .
a new combo is trained 3 times the same char vs as many chars as i think necessary…
so changing chars will not lead to me wasting time on things i already can do …only exaption is if i need a partner to get things started but in 90% i try to get a solo setup or the char i use can set it up using him or herself as an assist …
stuff like unblockabels and guardbreaks are done using a throw assist or 2 player mode …
and then i try safefall and stuff for some combos just 2 get better …and of course i switch sides very often just to get used to it we will always have a sider were most things are a bit easyer but we should be able to do it 95% on both sides why just 95% cause nobody has 100% and 5% is ok for me if this kills me ok i’m done my i can’t limit myself to combos that work all the time but i’m also not going for stuff i can’t do on point if i play 4 real …best example cable’s air hyper during hsf …yes i can do it but not 95% not even in 50% i would say 40% hit 60% fail and even worse just 25% are unblockable …so i will just use this if i would die anyway to chip … same thing parrying chungs sa2 i will not try it unless i fell like wining anyway ore it’s my last chance …

Thanks for the reply.

On average, how long do you think it takes to actually feel comfortable in learning new stuff?

Right now, I’m in the lab trying to get my Sentinel up to par again. I’ve been doing nothing but:
[][standing hp xxx, fly, unfly, land] Repeat in bracket
[
][d.hp xxx fly, unfly, land] Repeat in bracket
[]launch, sj, lp xxx FF–> lk, lk, dp.Rocket Punch
[
]launch, sj, lk xxx FF–> lk+Magneto (A), hp, lp.Rocket Punch

in corner launch, sj, lp xxx Fly forward, hp (grab), lp, lp.Rocket Punch, lk, lk, dp.Rocket Punch
…and a few other stuff.

I’m having trouble with doing so on 2P side. I can do it but it’s not as consistent on 1P side, I’d say 45%. Smh.

I think it’s my stick though cause the throw is a bit longer than what I’m use to (Happ).**

my sent is actually better on p2 side lol<div><br></div><div>anyways for training mode, what i do is pick ruby ruby ruby vs cable cable cable, switch to make the dummy manual, then pick ROW vs scrub or MSS or thrax or any team with sent.</div><div><br></div><div>then I practice (in order)</div><div>-dashing after short short rocket punch into 5fierce</div><div>-flashy cable shit</div><div>-sentinel unflys, stomp pressure, mid air lk unfly lk fast fly lk mk rocket punch</div>

Your sent is better on 2P side? Lol. I thought I was the only one that was like that, as in you can do stuff better on one side than the other.<div><br></div><div>I really don’t know any flashy Cable stuff, I should look into it, I usually just do his BnB (Bread and butter) stuff.</div><div><br></div><div>Funny you say “mid-air lk, unfly, lk, FF–> lk, mk, dp.Rocket Punch” cause I’ve never really practiced that, I just do it in the arcade mode. On 1P side, I can do it fast as hell. On 2P side, not so fast but it’ll connect.</div><div><br></div><div>Thanks for you input though.</div>

i think my sent is better on p2 side because flying on that side is a fireball motion on p1 side lol

You play ROW?<div><br></div><div>I play ROW and Matrix. shrugs</div><div><br></div><div>I try not to be flashy at times unless I know for a fact I got the match won. Most of the time I’m doing Magneto resets, like same side resets, different side reset, grab resets, etc. I got a video of me playing on YouTube entitled “4 Month Hiatus” that shows some stuff that I do.</div>

Im playing ROW and MSS atm, to try and add a Magneto to my character list. never bothered with him too much before. If Im in real trouble ill play scrub/clops or thrax/matrix. But Im loving ROW, cable +mag assist is so cheap sometimes

Yeah, I love that Cable + Magneto assist, especially when you kill off a character and go for the unblockable, works all the time. I usually do “jump back, hp, Magneto assist, grenade, land, aHVB” 3 chances for the unblockable to hit.<div><br></div><div>So last night I booted up MvC2, I haven’t played all this week due to school, and I decided to sit there as long as I can and just do Sentinel’s fly/unfly motions up to 50 reps. I got to like 10-15 and was getting frustrated and tired, that’s on 2P side though. I did like 2-3 sets and during those sets I’ve noticed that when I’m doing it my hand tends to not want to move in that direction for some reason after like 10-15 reps. When I do it slower it’s even worst. Any idea what that could be?</div><div><br></div><div>My DP has improved on 1P side, I can do it at least 60% now. Still having trouble doing my fly on 2P. Smh.</div><div><br></div><div>I’m use to playing on the floor but when I got a smaller stick I play in my lap, I think that’s another problem cause it’s a bit weird to me.</div>
