heya guys,
i’ve been doing some work in training; Somewhere i read to do reps of dragon punches to get them down, so i’ve been practicing them from both sides, and some dashes.
what else can i do to help my game out?

Practice everything until you can do anything whenever you want
do it from both sides and do it until you can hit is “X” times in a row (also knos as reps)
Practice practical things. Practice things you will actually put to use, and hope to put to use. Practice the range for normals, basic special/super/ultra execution, your BnBs, block strings, ultra/super setups, situational combos that are practical (corner only ones, in particular). That’s plenty for even a decent player. The rest is putting it to use.
much ty, i’ll get on that
i use training mode for a lot of things.
combos:
if i don’t have my combos down effectively yet then i practice it there.
once i have the combo down effectively it’s not finish yet. now i put the computer on random block and do the combo. if the computer doesn’t block i go into combo. if computer does block i don’t go into combo. this is extremely useful certain combos like hit confirmers or dp>fadc>ultra cause in real game play you don’t won’t know if your wake-up dp will connect or your cross-up attempt. of course i won’t use this for combos that are punish combos like akuma’s cl. hp>lk tatsu>hp dp.
i use it for finding out distances on normals and where my opponent lands after a throw so i can position myself right after a throw.
then there are things like practicing safe jumps.
list goes on and on, but those are my primary things.
Don’t forget about the record feature. Set up the dummy to play out scenarios you find yourself having difficulties with. Have issues with fireballs? Set up your Ryu dummy to throw a constant stream of them. Practice getting around them. etc.
One thing to coincide with tylerzd’s post: if you are unsure of how to block something, or how to practice punishing, the record feature is great. I had a lot of issues with playing against charge characters (mainly Balrog and Blanka), because I was always unsure what I could use to punish blocked charge attacked (Blanka ball, various Balrog dash punches). I used the record function and figured things out a lot better. That’ll contribute to learning match-ups, giving you something extra to practice in training mode.
