"Train harder!" - Ibuki Street Fighter V Discussion

Oh god i love that. My vega just leveled up.

Ibuki had a similar glitch already that they patched out before Evo. Surprised another character has this lol. Oh well that means its gone soon

This is different. Ibuki had invulnerable frames on landing, this is using the shrinking hurt boxes of air throws to counter an AA jab situation

Oh ok so this is more of a natural occurrence and not quite as OD. Interesting.

Confirmed that this does in-fact work with Ibuki. It seems as though all air throws remove that arbitrary (does not exist in any other fighting ever) fireball immune hurtbox. This actually immensely helps her air game against characters dependent on AA jab. You don’t get much reward, but you get in. Sadly, you get in at a negative, but the surprise factor is often enough, most people don’t expect their AA jabs to whiff.

To the same effect, I’ve been using her command jump to jump-in mostly because it also removes that hurtbox – that is until you hit a button. So I use it to wait for an AA jab, then hit a button immediately afterward. Kind of hard and difficult to setup considering Ibuki’s bad jump buttons and very particular command jump range. Being able to do this from any jump will be immensely useful. Good stuff.

Yeah, ryu and necalli jab AA really throw a wrench in my game even though i keep my jump ins to a minimum for surprise factor. The fact they can AA it so easily and then convert to huge dmg is obnoxious. This should help a little

Did you guys know about this?

Saw it in an ibuki video and went to go test it. Nice to have another option after mk tc mk dash. Also baits reversals.

https://youtu.be/_6M3M2rKoYA

I haven’t seen that, but I think I know how it works since Ibuki does cross up the opponent at a certain point during a dash. It’s why sometimes I’ll mess up trying a meaty afterwards if I attack too fast and Ibuki throws the attack in the wrong direction.

I like the reversal bait one too. Can definitely use that against the shotos.

The best use of this is probably as reversal/jump OS bait. If the opponent knows the jump in is coming they can just walk under or low profile the ā€œcross upā€. Hard Survival CPU already did that to me enough times to know lol.

Yeah i knew that since day1, ibuki is so mkx lol

I made a lil video showing some tech you might all know already, but I hadn’t seen it anywhere:

After playing her for a week. I don’t think she’s very good. I’m definitely in the group of people who think that a majority of the DLC characters are under powered so that the tier lists don’t get shaken up too much in the first year of SFV at Capcom Cup.

I feel like if you can consistently land the sweep TC it is pretty much game over as long as you don’t drop pressure after it

True. Its like a super plus advantaged meaty. Giving you enough time to do those jump shenanigans like in the previous video. Probably more things to come up with using it. Its the strongest post combo pressure you have and meterless.

Anyone see the Majorboy vs Yukadon set?

Majorboy basically didn’t play footsies with Nash at all. It seems like Nash has an extremely hard time dealing with her j.MK at certain ranges so Majorboy just kept jumping over and over again and running his pressure game.

It’s funny to me that a world class player like Yukadon will allow Ibuki to go for so many command dashes during blockstrings but your average scrub online will ALWAYS press a button there.

Was this tournament? Ive been lurking his cfn all month for replays but its been dead since early aug

Scrubs press buttons. You can’t mix up scrubs.

I only watch major boy to learn setups. His neutral isn’t that great. He jumps forward at characters with strong AA like Chun and ibukis floaty far jump just isn’t good for that.

Lately ive been watching isa and ex pugera (pugepino). They play more solid

isa? I don’t see anyone on CFN by that name.

Ill link a video of his. Theres this channel named fredchuckdave who actively posts up replays of the Japanese.

Thats isa putting work on Nuki. Really good set

Was watching acqua’s ibuki and one thing I noticed is he uses lp mp lk tc to confirm into vtc. After it, you can do c.hp into kazegiri which leads to all the usual bomb setups. Ideally we would just hit confirm lp mp into either hp or lk tc ender, but that is mentally straining. It does 244 damage after the bomb hits which is about 10 or so less than if you were to do lp mp hp xx kunai vtc, s.hp xx kazegiri. You save a kunai and you get a super easy and safe hit confirm into vtc. Been using it today and I like it a lot.

You were probably watching this video.

Interesting thing I noticed is he likes to use it even when he doesn’t have VTC ready. He just uses it in general pressure sometimes. If he is confirming the block or hit to go for it to stay safe that’s pretty crazy. Wouldn’t say it’s impossible but really tough to do without throwing an extra jab first. It’s nice cuz like you said, if you VTC off that target string then you save a kunai and even better don’t burn a kunai if they block.

Hi Everyone, I was wondering if anyone one of you ran into an issue where Ibuki got stuck in a crouching position for a second or 2. The happens to me randomly while playing a match. I first thought maybe it’s my stick, but then I play on another PS4 with a different stick and it still happens. For some reason, Ibuki will suddenly it stuck in a crouching position as I try to move around. I can’t pinpoint it yet and it happens offline and online. Have you guys experience this?
