"Train harder!" - Ibuki Street Fighter V Discussion

No problem, lol.

Goodluck to everyone attending evo! Do
Ibuki justice. :stuck_out_tongue:

according to frame data, b.mp is -1 on block, using it over a +2 move as is s.mp is beyond me. I thought it could break armors but most armors in this game activate after frame 2 anyway. Ask Sako directly why he is doing that, the answer wont be found in this topic.

Also guys, when you are at full stock and get a dizzy, dont hesitate to go for the optimized combo: j.HK, s.HP or cr.HP, kazekiri H, critical art. It is always such a lot of damage. cr.HP does a little more damage but the timing is harder due to kazekiri not coming out sometimes but critical art.

Real high level with Ibuki has her confirming anything into Kazekiri H > critical art btw! let it burn for a few months before people reach high level with her. Screen freeze VT to anti air with Kazekiri will also become a thing.

All the ibukis i have seen on stream today doesnt even use command dash M after of kazekiri ex and vreversal lol. Not a single one of them used the frame advantage when they could.

I only got to catch Alex Myers body some birdie before I left for work. It was savage lol

Looks someoneā€™s wish came trueā€¦

https://www.periscope.tv/w/1MnxnyRyDeEJO video from Sakoā€™s wifeā€™s twitter leaking the evo setups hes beeen working on. the b.mp dash is making the VT bomb reset even more ambiguous guess this is why hes the creative and im not

Iā€™m surprised to see him labbing the ibuki. I noticed all his battle lounge matches the last 4 or 5 days were with chun. I figured he had given up on her for evo.

THERE IS HOPE!!!

Ibuki is the 3rd most purchased item with fight money, proving her popularity. No Alex or Guile in fact (in fact the latter is the 3rd least played character in the whole roster)

Sako just beat an Alex player in stream 2-0! his execution was a little off but he pulled the neutral game quite well.

Jump to 3:10 minutes, This is the optimal ibuki follow up after cmp kunai trigger. Uses 2 bombs in 1 legit set play around 50% damage. Only 1 bar. Pretty execution heavy and takes time to be consistent doing it

Thatā€™s just like Sakoā€™s combo, but you use 1 more kunai. However, it is easier since you donā€™t need to time when to throw the ex kunai. You just do everything in succession.

Anyways, need to work on some non v-trigger setups/mixups to compliment her neutral. To quote what Combofiend said, ā€œIf youā€™re depending on the bomb, then youā€™re making comebacks, youā€™re not winning.ā€

@hehwat Youā€™re actually doing the lower execution version of the reset. Itā€™s the same one Serp posted a while back. Itā€™s also not the most resource efficient since you have to burn 3 kunais to do it. That version is very easy to do 100 percent with not much practice. The true dash/command dash Sako reset requires stricter timing as you have to perfectly time the EX kunai to hit after your dash instead of leaping into perfect position with the HP kunai. The offset is that once you do get the timing for it, itā€™s still rather doable and only spends 2 kunais. Considering you only get 6 kunai stocks and some characters are very hard to reload against, itā€™s definitely more efficient.

I find doing LK command dash after EX kunai instead of forward dash gives better timing/positioning.

I always focus on neutral game first and her neutral game isnā€™t too far off from her 3S version now that her walk speed is really good again. No point in knowing how to do cute stuff if you canā€™t hit people or avoid the things people are trying to hit you with.

I agree with this so much, I dropped down to super silver using ibuki and brought her back up to super gold and Iā€™ve yet to learn a single bomb mix up. I think too many people focused on that instead of learning her neutral and her button ranges.

Edit: I just tried the sako mixup and itā€™s fairly easy to do. I feel like there is no point in learning the extra kunai variation tbh

I was finally able to land the VTrigger mixup :). I usually get the EX kunai timing down but botch the f.hk timing lol. Iā€™m not sure if this was a crossup or not because he was pressing buttons. But I know this can crossup when you do LK Dash.

^ it didnā€™t cross up. You can tell because the direction he flies after the explosion

Her neutral game isnā€™t strongā€¦ I admit cr.mp buffered is good. F.hk in most match ups are good. She still canā€™t jump inā€¦ I am seeing her mix up will have to take risk she will have to command dash in.

Ah ok I see it now. How do you make it cross up consistently? I canā€™t pinpoint what I did wrong in my combo. Iā€™ve been trying and got it to crossup in 1 out of 50ish tries :frowning:

Not having a gdlk jump is somewhat of an issue. All of the higher tier characters have strong jumps or some type of airborne move they can abuse to not have to play the ground game all day. Ground game is decent in this game, but being able to jump to disrespect the ground game when you need to is also very important. There isnā€™t any top player of any high tier character that always stays grounded. They jump eventually.

Anti airing requires a lot of work in this game unless you play Necalli or Ryu (and they still get jumped in on) so she may end up having to throw people off with kunais or burn meter on EX kunai to get in. Luckily air EX kunai is probably the best jump in in the game, so may be all that you need if her pressure gets strong enough.

Same, crossing up with the second bomb is really rare, tried doing it the Sako way and also the 3 kunai way and I hardly ever get the second bomb to cross up :frowning:

I am seeing some ibuki players using kunai right outside sweep range and going for f.hk or jumping to crossing up.

And is this a good solid play when she gets inā€¦ st.lp st.mp cr.mp
