Every time I see that Ibuki win pose it looks like she has braces…but she doesn’t.
you can throw super long bomb on the ground on opponent wakeup, wait until you open them up (overhead, shimmy, whatever), cancel into ex kunai for massive damage
I’m glad for you guys, and I don’t hate her as much now as at the reveal now that I have a bit more info, but this bitch is definitely not my type. She’s almost a new character entirely, and is set to be SFV’s “glass cannon zoner”. Her new design and animations don’t sit well with me; she moves like a crackhead and giving a panty shot for half of her attacks seems like overkill. No way am I paying money for her, and she’s probably going to be last on the unlock list, maybe ahead of Alex because he just sucks.
Taking away her spin kicks just seems weird, but makes sense for where they’re going with the character. Her V-Skill is pretty unimpressive too; nothing crazy like Guile or Dhalsim’s.
Unless people play her wildly different to what we’ve seen, she’s not going to be a zoner at all, not even close. The knives are going to be setups to get in or ways to end strings to either be safe or extend pressure. This isn’t like sf4 Rolento running away with knives or something. I don’t think Ibuki could make that work in her current form even if she tried. She has to do a slow ass kunai reload special to even have them.
Ibuki is set more to play like Laura without a command throw but with some mobility options and misc tricks. She’s not sf3 Ibuki but she’s not sf4 Ibuki either.
Idk, she seems really weak on the frame trap department from what we’ve seen. Target combos are all negative even if you stop at st.mp and st.mk is not cancellable on anything but v-trigger. I’m interesting to see how people will pressure with her.
The knives still give her access to a more relevant zoning game than she’s ever had before. The speed and movement of her grounded knives (the multi hit ones) lets her have more of a ranged presence than she’s ever had. They almost move faster than most of the ex projectiles in the game.
Be interesting to see what her block frame data is on close range kunais. If she’s like any offensive character she’ll most likely have certain light or medium normals that are plus for frame trapping. I’m assuming her s.LP and s.MP will probably be go to plus on block buttons with the other stuff being more negative.
Otherwise it sounds like she’ll work like Ken. Use dash/command dash tricks and good hit confirming skills to make up for not having a lot of plus stuff.
Watched some footage. This looks like a character I’d have fun with. Gonna give her a go.
right now its impossible to say if she is going to be shit or the shit. i remember how everyone swore guile is going to be great, then it turned out he has fuckboy tier normals
I kinda reserved judgment for him. He doesn’t look like he’ll ever make top tier, but I feel someone who really puts all of his tools together will make him strong. He’s just one of those characters like Ken where there isn’t just one thing that stands out amazingly on its own. You gotta put it all together to make him what he could be.
3S quality walk speed plus solid closer ranged buttons alone I feel should keep Ibuki strong. She’s like what would happen if Laura actually had the walk speed to play real footsies. Ibuki also looks to have some of the most damaging and consistent AA options in this game which is HUGE.
well personally if she is fun to use im going to play her no matter what. as long as she is not completely trash im good
Well Gief can ensure that any character has a safe bet of not being complete trash.
Also remember Alex. When he came out everyone was “meh, he’s weak” and now a lot of people in tournaments are switching for him and you find a lot of amazing Alex players online. You just need to give people the time to dig into the character and his MUs.
I’ve noticed that she can still do the airborne kunai motion when she doesn’t have a kunai stocked. Might be useful to bait DPs, avoid Bison’s CA or just simply avoid a fireball after a mistimed jump, even without having a Kunai.
Gotta be honest, I wasn’t interested in her before (well, more than Balrog anyway) but she seems kinda cool in this game. Too bad it’s still an entire month to go.
Does it still change her air trajectory?

Crapcom is starting to become like SEGA to me with the false promises in keeping their shit together and I’m kinda on the fence since the real reasons I kept up was to go to EVO and wanted to stay consistent. However having to wait entirely another month to even get my character is starting to grate at my nerves.
