TourneyPlay presents PNW Fighter Series I - SSF4, Brawl, N64 Smash - Aug 21st 2010

My old band use to practice in the building next to the park and all the parking would get taken. I also saw way to many people who looked liked they listened to ICP. I just didn’t dig the vibe.

I apologize for derailing the thread.

Ok adjusted main post for Evo style monitors and free venue fee. I will take them in the order I receive them in this thread or in PMs.

Heya Chris, I was just curious if you have worked out a rough schedule yet?

I only ask because depending on what time certain things start (Say the SSF4 3v3 tourney happens in the evening) I could very well make it. Hell, I might even be able to trade the day off with someone else (Doubtful, but possible).

Chris, as far as the monitors that you have, can anyone verify the lag on them? I don’t want to sound all bitchy or anything, but when ya lose because of lag…its like losing a game because you randomly tripped in Brawl.

Now to answer some things, since I’ve mostly been checking this specific thread on my phone…yeah, replies aren’t happening.

Don’t worry, we’ll be working together. If I sit there for 14 hours straight I’ll go bonkers haha.

If it came down to it, I could do the streaming through CRT…do I want to (as far as Super4 goes? I’d prefer not. Again, as for streaming, whatever you’re playing on, it doesn’t matter to me since I’m only getting inputs.

Now basically what I’m thinking is there are two options as far as streaming and I’d love to hear the community input on this.

IF you were to play on stream, would you prefer sitting next to one another (Bloody Knuckles), or would you prefer a head to head style setup (think Bragging Rights).

Both are do-able in terms of the equipment that I have. H2H is more of a Japanese feel, Side by side is American (I guess) (I honestly think Head to Head is better, gives more of a dramatic feel.

Also, how big of a space are we looking at? Anyone have floorplans/pictures of the inside?

I’d prefer head to head for the stream.

Lag On TVs:
Honestly dont know 100% for sure. I have both models of the Viewsonics that MLG uses, one is worst then the other. I think 3ms vs 5ms.
The 30ish inch LCDs are prob 5ms
The CRT (despite what people say hahahah) have NO LAG is you set the Xbox up right.
When I bought the CRTs I have I took a professional Halo player with me to Video Only and took a old Xbox and a 360 and he played on every CRT they had there to make sure we did not get one with an HD Tuner and to make sure we got the best possible at the time.
I had a Melee tournament the next weekend on them and guys who are considered next to Pro in Melee (Silent Wolf, Eggz, Ka-Master, the Skypal crew, Gimpyfish, etc) all played on them that first weekend and have every month since then.
So any LAG in the CRTs is negligible at best and does not effect game play, if you think it does, its your cables and Xbox causing the issue.

SCHEDULE: I have not.
I expect N64 Smash and Brawl will be Noon - 6pmish…
SF 6pm onward… with casual stations set up at like 2pm or something… ?
I am absolutely open to options on schedule though, but I think getting Smash done earlier rather then later is better.
It maybe that the N64 over flows, but they will not need much room, 4 or 5 TVs max and with me opening up another 200sqft of the place to this event, that should be OK.

GC is about 1250 Sq Ft, roughly a rectangle. We will have about 700 sq ft of the room for the event, maybe 800 depending on how we set this all up.
We will also have the tent in the parking lot to hang out in. Its 10x20 I think.

Also, since G4G had declined to do the Pre-Reg process for this event, we will prob not have Pre-reg, so no Late Reg fee’s and such.

I was going to use G4G because they will often throw money at an event for X # of Registrations, which could have been nice as Bonus Prize Money, but they seem to have other things going on and do not want to handle a tournament.

So unless I find a diff company to throw money at the event for registration, we will just do a 100% at the door registration.

Wow, that means I can actually make this event.

Who wants to team up?

I dont see the problem of charging the “players” in the tournament a venue fee, just do not charge the spectators. That is where the majority of the income will come is from the players anyway. I highly doubt you will have that many spectators anyhow.

Venue fee is very reasonable, people in seattle need to realize shit aint free. You do not see anyone complaining in the east coast or down in cali about it and you definitely do not see people complaining at evo.

Be happy we have other people willing enough to run these tournaments. Most of the elites here are so hungry but disgruntled by the lack of effort in the players to improve, but yet you do not want to support another venue that is running SF events in order to test your improvement. Come on Seattle, we need to help everyone out their and support all!! Distance should NEVER be a factor here unless we are talking eastern Washington or something, but even then…if its a major…you better believe im driving on over.

Cole

ps - sorry if most of this has been resolved…i read the last page of this and still see people crying.

Cole, all’s cooled down. No worries about the shit anymore.

We need more teams confirmed! We can’t beast on everyone if no one enters. :razzy:

Do teams have to be announced before the tourney?

Riki-Oh: lol thats so funny how you guys think you will win teams =) Im laughing so hard i think some of my naps have fallin out of my fro =)

Hey Connor, since Bokkin choose the wrong peeps to be with, we are gonna have to find another big gun to make sure we keep the wins on the Light side and not the Dark side

Oh my stomach…Riki post more of your for sure team victories…im not sure if it will be as funny as your team name tho =D cackle

J-Cole

ps - Seattle Clause: Please notice seattle…that this is healthy rivalry trash talk…not to be mistaking as direct insults, disrespect, or any type of negative beef. You must learn to control the emotion =)

Thank you, see you in the finals Riki-oh =)

After the Dojo Guardians clutch tournament wars, I plan on keeping my flawless team tournament victories here in the NW  Hope someone can stop me…not sure if u guys have overcome tournament fear tho…so might be free for me no matter who is on my team MUAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAA =)

Cole out!

ROFL, sad but true.

Team 817, 'nuff said.

Better not pick Dhalsim if we meet in the brackets…though admittedly your Shangri’la tactics are 2nd to none.

i know this is settled but i still have to say. i am going to try and make it to this event and i am happy to pay. i am going to pay to enter as well just to give someone a free match lol im a noob. i am just hyped to get into the scene and watch some of you guys play. and if my money means he might have the money to do it again sooner than that is badass and i will pay 15 just cause. thats my 2 cents lol

 I would reply with some trash talk, but I lost to both dojo guardians last Thursday  I guess I’ll just let my team mates go first against Cole’s team so I don’t have to play :razzy:

Singles is the main event, but we all know 3v3 is where the hypes at  Also, you don’t NEED to post up teams first, but we need to at least get 6 confirmed before the event or else what’s the use of running the 3v3 if it’s just Gradius III v Dirty Cole and Co. SO POST UP TEAMS WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE WEEKS!

Calm down eman. :stuck_out_tongue:

Exactly. What is going to happen if everyone chokes and Cole says “What up now?”

your crts will most likely not have any lag. (good tourney tv’s)
but your other big lcd’s most likely will have lag. (game mode helps, but it doesnt solve all lag issues.)
keep the big tv’s for casuals so noone will bitch about it.

for a tourney stream setup get a asus evo monitor (get someone from the community to donate one waive their entry and give them some drinks or something)

Silent Wolf, Eggz, Ka-Master, the Skypal crew, Gimpyfish - pro in a game doesnt equate to pro technological expertise. unless they from srk name dropping doesnt help here.

i consider myself pro in technology and research.

The issue some people have with CRTs is that they’re used to playing on LCD widescreen TVs so even though you can change the visual resolution to match people feel like the spacing is off. I find it pretty petty though because if I could play on CRTs for tournaments I would do better (I use a CRT at home) but I don’t bitch at every single tournament I go to because the norm is LCDs. If you can’t handle the CRT don’t play on the CRT setup. There’s only like one. Adapt, bitches.
