Wow. Nice dude. Very fast, and they look awesome!
Grazie.
I do but I haven’t looked them yet and I’m not sure exactly what Frank had in mind for them. If he doesn’t care I’ll put them up.
I don’t wanna step on anybody’s toes or anything, but why not just take the matches Mac edited/uploaded and place those videos on the tournamentwars youtube page? Or like give Mac the tournamentwars youtube page login info or something.
I don’t want Jeff to like waste his time uploading stuff if people are already uploading stuff ya digg? Good ish on those videos Mac.
Man. I can’t believe I landed on that fireball. I can believe the random ultras, the messing up my combos and crossups, I just can’t believe I really just landed on that fireball at the end.
I can’t believe I kept jumping into that knee.
One of the more distracting things for me (which you can hear on the video and is lovely) is people talking about me messing up the RSF.
^-- Ask Elias what it was like playing on the big screen at Evo and having the likes of Yipes and the rest of the EC barking in his ear.
Commentating is one thing, since Frank will have control over where the setup is located. I don’t think you’re actually complaining about it, but you can’t expect the crowd to keep quiet while you’re playing your match. Think of it as a hazzard of the business. Gotta tune those things out and concentrate at the task at hand.
And a video camera in your face as well as people moving around in your peripheral vision taking pictures of you! Man, that shit was intense. They also had me sitting up there on the stage looking out over the sea of a thousand fuggin people for hella long. I wasn’t nervous until I was sitting up there for a good 45 minutes thinking “damn that’s a lot of people.” Yeah, you play next! I heard that like before 9 other matches.
Definitely something you gotta learn to deal with. Tune it out one way or another. I originally busted out the headphones because fuggin FRANK used to make me laugh HELLA hard at Zach’s every time I’d play.
I was talking a lot of shit during all of the matches. That and the beer is the only thing keeping me from crying tears of sadness. Poetry in motion this game is not. Unless it is complete and utter rape. We need more yelling.
I know all about that. :wow:
On the car ride home Francis (Awesome Jones) and I were talking about TW. He said “Win or lose, this is for Team Seattle.” and I feel the same way. I honestly had a hefty post already typed out but this will be the slimfast version of it.
Everyone should be taking this event as a chance to individually critique yourself and with weekly videos, it will show you your own weak points. Where to better yourself, and how to just play certain match-ups. This can only improve our execution, nerves, and match-up experience… Experience, this is the best word to use in this sort of setting. Everyone must take this not with a grain of salt (no pun towards Team Salt :P), but use it to humble/better ourselves.
Coming from past experience, I know people were kind of nervous because of the crowd, the commentators, or just the stress that was put on the event. You have to learn to block EVERYTHING OUT. You need to learn to play like that is the ONLY game you will be playing the whole night, so you need to make it count.
I was down in California a couple years back for a CS:S tournament. We were on stage playing against the top ranked 1.6/Source team Jax Money Crew, stress within knowing your opponent can be bad enough, but to top it off, this was at Newegg LANFest2k7. They had this Black guy as the MC eating the microphone for breakfast, we had a live band playing their loud ass gay fucking shit-rock music, AND we had our backs to our opponents so they could look at our screens with them shit-talking us the whole time. None of that effected me, surprising for someone with ADHD. I simply turned my in-game volume to Sound barrier, and focused on my monitor the entire time. I wanted to just put an end to it all, but instead, I utilized that as motivation to fuck these guys up. First round, I straight out AWPed one of the best AWPers in 1.6 and Source, and my buddy Matt clicked off that and raped 4 rushing him.
“Mind sword, mind people, mind opponent. Too many mind.” -The Last Samurai, Katsumoto’s son. Hopefully you can get over the fact it’s a Tom Cruise movie, and take a good long time to think about that before your next match.
Fuck a Tom Cruise…Sanada Hiroyuki’s in that movie too!
But a great post Jared.
I almost got the first sheet of TRADING CARDS DONE. Who’s calling first dibs?
Are there any rare cards yet? I’m looking to obtain a Ghrrk card, will trade for Riki-Oh.
Yeah, a perfect example, I only tune in on the voices of my team mates. Drew and Francis were the ONLY people I even wanted to hear, and that’s what happened. Frank was sitting right behind me and until I watched the video, I didn’t realize what a fucking good match Elliott and myself put on for him to commentate. It gave me a WARM fuzzy feeling to hear those things afterward, I would have DEFINITELY been distracted had I heard them mid-match and it would have caused more stress for my team mates.
Also, any chance Hotness will be a Holographic Ultra Rare Foil? Seth just got turtle waxed and is ready to shine.
Man, you need some Free Agent cards.
LOL yeah where we at?
my card is rarer than rare. 1st edition son.
I second the free agent cards, that’d be sick.
The physical card ideas sound cool, but would REALLY be awesome is dynamic card tracking on the website depending who the person lost/won against.
Oh, and don’t forget to post those vids on the website.
