Most exciting stuff I have seen on Shoryuken in awhile.
The battle of the Kens. Find out who is the real world warrior.
LTB and Tanaka would RIZZAPE if they played in that, lol.
Yea, Tanaka has a tight Ken - I played him once in casuals last TW and got 2 rounds on him. I was buzzed, but I wanna square off against his Ryu. But I picked up a few tricks from his Ken hehe.
Realest post in the thread and I thought up some more shit to say…
If anyone thinks taking a 3 day trip to NCR was too much time/money then just let me break down the economics for you. The whole trip cost me like 120 dollars including tourney entrance fees, food & gas and I was only splitting my room with 2 other people, if you split it 4-5 ways it would be like 20% less. Shit I know a lot of you dudes used to play at Gameworks when it was 1.50 a fucking game. I personally would drop like 20-30 a week going 2x and thats not including gas coming from Lynnwood.
If you can’t afford it at all or have other shit going on thats one thing(And I know all about it, believe me I missed every B/Evo tourney from 2001 onward because of being a broke bitch), but NCR was announced 3+ months in advance and is within driving distance of Seattle. If you wanna get your name out there and prove you can hang then you gotta take the trips. There is no “I think I’m better than those fools” allowed because Seattle ain’t shit really and I’ll let you know why…
Seattle is unique in that its further out of the way compared to other places on the west coast AND has a fairly sizable scene(Compared to Portland, Las Vegas, Utah, Arizona & BC I guess) but honestly… The skill doesn’t match up to the size of the community. How can BC body all of you so hard? BBH from Portland would place top 3 any time he wants and he has almost no comp. Some dudes from fuckin’ Utah came out to NCR, I play with some of them online and a couple of them could easily place top 8. I know a lot of players like Carlos, Elias, Mickey, Eman, etc got some skills but its really everyone else that I’m concerned about. What the fuck are you playing for? Don’t you realize these dudes struggle to get better because of you? From what I can tell there are maybe a little over 10 competitive level players altogether in Seattle still putting time in the game and improving. The rest of you would honestly lose to girls in Socal let alone our mid tier tourney players. And if you blame getting older or “priorities” as I’ve seen some of you do you should just stop playing the game and get that sorted out, don’t waste other peoples time.
:lovin:
Fuck all that, my money would be on Chris’(Ceramic Sugar) Ken from like back in June. Never even beat that Ken once.
Hm, interesting. I suppose I’m confused as to how you can speak for us to that extent when you don’t live here anymore. I understand the connection and all that but I don’t get it.
The last time they came was NWM. I would most definitely consider that bodybag status, but…
Really? In SFIV? Cause while I don’t doubt his abilities, when he did come here, he didn’t make top 8 at NWM, much like you didn’t and you were one of “us” at the time. Us being the collective group that got bodied by BC. Easy for you to say we were the ones getting bodied when you don’t live here anymore. Can’t speak on Utah as I haven’t seen them play, so I’m not going there. Maybe they can, maybe they can’t.
I don’t have any issues with you whatsoever, but really? A little over 10 competitive level players? I mean, like I said, I understand why you would post, but why post things as fact if you no longer even live here? The fact that you posted that is funny because you posted it in the Tournament Wars thread. Sixteen three man teams, yet Seattle only has a little over 10 competitive level players. The math doesn’t add up.
I will agree with you that the skill level definitely doesn’t match the size of the community. That’s like the one thing I agree with though.
I’m not sure about other people, but california is not ‘driving distance’ for me. I can’t fucking stand being in a car that long. It’d have to be something a lot tighter than just a single weekend/tourney for me to sit in a car much less DRIVE for that long. I rode a greyhound to california once, and I wanted to die. I know that’s different, but still.
The key to those drives is making other people do the driving and being able to fall asleep in the back seat.
As far as people here not being that great, I really can’t think of many players that are still around and haven’t improved especially since we started having more gatherings. I know I’m still not going to get Top 8 @ Evo but I know I’ve sure as hell gotten a lot better.
Good lord take this shit to a new fucking thread. Over the last fucking 40+ posts, I saw TWO that were related to tournament wars and the rest to the bitchfest that is fucking Mickey vs. Carlos.
How about this? I spend my tournament wars budget on buying 2 megaphones, give one to mickey and carlos and charge you guys 10 bucks a head to pop boners while watching them verbally duke it out like high school girls.
Mickey your my boy, you dislike carlos, you guys set up a mm. Carlos, your the most arrognat person I’ve ever met in the scene, yet you do have skill to back your cocky persona. Great. You have agreed to this mm too. Fantastic, you guys wanna keep running with it by all means go ahead, but do it in a different thread.
Did anyone recal that list of ppl that haven’t paid? I hope so, cause guess what? If a team member isn’t paid by the end of the season, they will be BANNED from TW’s for an entire season. And of their team made it to the playoffs? Your ENTIRE team is dq’d. So now, do you guys want to continue with this fucking flame war? Cause I know a few ppl that still owe me some mother fucking money and aren’t making an attempt to get at me.
Preach it, sista! This shit’s tired. Hey so where did that list go that summarized people’s leading off/team order?
^sorry frank for sorta derailing I do want to know when a good time for the mm…someone said bloody knuckles? I like that idea as long as it’s cool with you Frank and happystickperson. Otherwise whenever is good I just need a heads up when to have cash on me (I don’t carry to much cash on me).
Edit: In case your lookin to know PaulLee has started twice Mike once and Me once.
QUESTION!
If you end up DQ’ing a team at the end of the season, would their Wins/Losses be expunged from the teams they played, or would they all be turned into Forfeit Wins in favor of the non-DQ’d teams?
Just an IDEA! Make FFWs worth .5 points, so that if a team did lose to the DQ’d team, that wouldn’t give them too much of an advantage over other teams that were not so fortunate to play them… Being it a free-win and all.
so I take it TW is done 'till jan?
Just my thoughts from results(And watching tournament wars videos) + chatting with various members of the NW community, I also played quite a few people up there online up until recently AND chatted it up with the people that came to NCR . But yeah probably shouldn’t quantify what I can’t truly judge with accuracy. I won’t bother editing the post but apologies if you think the number is way off.
If a team(s) is dq’d that made it to the playoffs, their spot won’t be filled and will result in a bye to the opponents. It’s pretty simple. Pay your dues. I’ve been nice (and still am cause dues were supposed to be due by the end of this week). And well I’m done playing nice, pay me. Pay me now. Or else explain to your team why they aren’t playing in the playoffs.
Hey Frank, is there anyway you could push our match on Saturday an hour later so it’s at 1 instead of 12. I get off work around 11:30 so I’m not trying to be late to the match.
Man… Our TZ threads are never this epic
That sounds good and all, but what of the chances are if a team who would have not made it to play-offs by a 1 game deficit… Would they automatically get a W over the DQ’d team?
