Are we doing a pre-funk this time around?
Yes, at your house. Thanks for offering!
If anyone at UW is willing to take the time, you can rent really pretty decent video recording and sound equipment from STF. It’s free and pretty simple. Go to the STF (Student Technology Fund) website and tell them what you want to rent, pick it up at Kane Hall (basement) and return it on Monday.
Could be a good back-up. Probably not a bad idea for the Sunday singles tournament this weekend.
frank: tapatio will be in effect this sat, dec 5th
I’d chip in.
;p hahaha cant wait for saturday^^
Planning on it but I havne’t really had anyone commit to bringing setups/etc.
Can’t remember if I posted this but I just remembered:
Jillians in Seattle might be a venue to look into. Huge amount of space, and last time I was there they had a 360 w/ T6 going. Talking to one of the servers, it seems that the place is open to events like TW.
Downside- entire place is 21+ after 9pm and the hours are Mon-Thu 11am-1am; Fri 11am-2am; Sat 12pm-2am; Sun 12pm-1am.
If there ever comes a time when the start time can be around 6ish…might be a good venue to look into.
There has been a boo-boo with my work schedule and I CANNOT attend Tournament Wars this coming Saturday the 5th. I am mad as hell but what can I do dude.
Sorry for telling everyone that I was going, I blame my boss for fucking up the schedule.
FUCK!
Last time I went to Jillians in Seattle, there was a crazy ass brawl outside, someone got slammed up against the glass window, and i walked through someone’s blood only to see another dude powerbomb this chick into some bushes.
I can’t say my experience was an interesting as yours Frank, but my GF held a breast cancer 3-day fundraiser at Jillians and had some great success. No powerbombs, blood and cat fights, but a lot of people drinking Dirty Shirley Temples and wearing pink.
I don’t think it would be that good only because of the layout, I could see a lot of random customers getting in the way real fast.
I’ve been thinking lately that a fun way to get some publicity and funds for Tournament Wars and SeattleVersus would be to have a marathon gaming event as a fundraiser. Two or three days of straight Street Fighter 4/Marvel/STHD on some weekend. Just one setup running back-to-back games for 2 or three days straight, and we could talk to places around the area to see if they would like to support it. We could donate half of the income to a cause, so it could be a charity event also. If we streamed it, it could be get a lot of attention.
Just something I have been thinking about. Not in a position right now to plan anything, but if someone else would like to take this on, that could be pretty dope. You’d basically just need 1 setup with streaming equipment, and then to organize people so their are always a few people there playing. You would also have to get local business on board and do marketing.
A great time to try to pull that off would be the break between season 1 and 2.
Also for this weekend we have our first (and hopefully only) TRIPLE HEADER! Focus cancelious is running a gauntlet this saturday against TDP, another team (sry I forgot who…maybe the ubtechables?) And ESL.
Also it’s a chance to see the best tekken players we have squaring off before the national tournament next sat. Come by to check it out!
And lastly, sorry that the fight card hasn"t beeen updated. I’m in the final stages of moving into my apartment. It’s looking like I won’t get this week’s fight card completed :(. I do appologize but I habe a lot on my plate that I’m trying to get through.
Frank u should buy. Me. A drink
- that other team I BELIEVE is Stretch Armstrong.
- Tekken is going to look interesting. It’ll be cool to connect with the Tekken peeps after being in hibernation for so long.
- Dude. I can update the site for you if you want to just PM me notes or stuff to touch on. I’ve been offering like forever.
Oh I know Lee, I don’t even have any notes for the fight card this go around =[
Fight Card: Triple header is the main event. Winner will be sobriety.
Triple Header is canceled. ESL can’t make it this Saturday. or on Dec. 19th, looks like I’ll be moving that to Jan. 9th.
Quick question: Do people want to see/have more singles tournaments for season 2, or do people really like the team aspect? Feedback is needed and is very important for the development of Season 2
^the team idea is cool but honestly what I would like to see is just straight singles tourneys. It gives everybody the opportunity of 2 matches rather than 1 or 2 every 2 weeks. I really like this team tourney but if you are running SSF4 for season 2 I’d like to think singles would be the way to go if we want to lvl up as quick as possible. Plus with a pot every week or every other week not only would there be more drive for people to show up but we could start a ranbat system or a point system and keep record of who’s on top in the scene to make people want to get on those leader boards. Almost like a Battlefield Arcadia or Arcade Infinity set up… the NW would have Tournament Wars.
I actually disagree. I think having teams is one of the things that makes tournament wars special. If we did singles, it would honestly feel like just another ranbat, and that’s no fun. Just my thoughts.
