KraingKrai/Mickey match is awesome.
Holy fucking shit @ the finish to the final TDP vs Wolfpack match. Good shit Frank!
“Only once! Only once!”
I really wish I could be a part of this. Hopefully I can join next year when I’m back at the end of March.
So I think when tekken starts up on nov. 14th, I’m going to have the same rules go for them too. Single game, 3 out of 5 rounds. I’m also going to intertwine the two so they won’t go at the same time since it’ll be 2 matches a week.
Myself and a tekken kid will be commentating for tekken.
The tekken matches will go WAY faster than sfiv. Also I’m going to eliminate practice alltogether. I know ikve been wishy washy with it but for time issues I think it’ll be the best option.
ALSO there are going to be schedule changes for the next three weeks. I already talked to a few teams, but if I can get a match to switch from Nov. 7th to next week that’d be awesome.
done editing vids with commentary . vids will be up shortly.
most of the vids are up!
i just have the final match and its set…
check it out… http://youtube.com/tournamentwars
“Find this nigga at the dollar store because he is not free!!”
I’m really impressed with the main commentator guy (who is it BTW?) - doing a great job - would definitely like to hear him continuing in the future.
Which match?
Both main commentators were really good actually. Elliott, you were the guy commentating the TDP vs Wolfpack matches I think… right?
P.S. I think it would be really cool if we can get the players from both teams over to the table and quickly summarize what was going through their minds when they were playing against each other. This can happen during the next team’s practice sessions.
I think you are talking about Brentobox
From what I hear, Frank’s eliminating all practice sessions for time constraints.
Yeah, I’m well aware of the Seattle SF scene’s opinion of twitter. But I’m gonna ask this anyway: for the small handful of people who are following the TW twitter (http://twitter.com/tournamentwars), please pass it around to your homies in the SF scene. Just because people don’t use it out here doesn’t mean it’s not important. Any exposure for our events is good exposure.
I’m not a huge fan of the commentary getting cut off. I think that we should ready the camera maybe 5-10 seconds before the match starts to begin the commentary and the 5-10 seconds after the match is over to wrap up any remaining/closing remarks. I’m sure we really don’t have to turn the cameras off right when the match says KO don’t you think?
And also, maybe a little less profanity on the mics? There wasn’t a lot. But the f bombs were a little…I dunno man. I mean, we’re trying to make it a little more professional right? It’s not that I’m not down with the cussing. You heard me all night as a spectator.
Sean/Nolan/Elliot’s commentary was awesome. GGs to everyone TW and MM’s see you all next week!
there needs to be more time in the video for me to keep the audio 5-10 before and after. do you really want to see 5-10 seconds of a black screen? looks tacky to me. im fine with it being cut off and if you want the camera to stay on after k.o. id advice everyone to stop stepping infront of the camera after the match. i did that too lol
Yea, black screen to keep the commentary goin is kinda whack. Remember that I’m not part of the TW team and merely making suggestions. If we could tell people to stay clear and give their sportsmanship like congratulations behind the cameras, that would be cool too. Just that sometimes I feel like the commentators are saying something and then…
And dog, did you get my text? I’ll buy you beer if you come out. For real man. I’m sure it won’t be an all nighter thing either. Just a practice session.
oh yeah ill come out. i was playing uncharted drakes all night. ill come after work for a lil
Censorship is fucking lame. What does it need to sound professional for? We aren’t selling any of this, I mean shit, we’re talking about videos of us playing Street Fighter, no one would buy it. I would just assume say to the people who are that sensitive to swearing something like, “Fuck you, get over it.” People swear, they’re just words, who gives a shit? The commentary on the videos I watched was good, to me swearing even makes it better, it makes it more realistic. Sometimes sf commentators try to hard to sound like sports commentators, and it just sounds cheesy imo.
In Summary: Virtually no one will be watching our shit other than people who play SF and us, so I highly doubt swearing is offending anyone. If it is they should probably either: A) Stop being a pussy and deal with it. or B) Get used never being comfortable at any SF event anywhere and stfu.
i agree with trace. real talk
I’ve always felt like words were words, and with the right to free speech you can use them if you want. Regardless of what you might think, you dont have anyone to blame but yourself if you’re offended by them. I feel like trace does, I think some swearing is okay, it displays our emotions about what we see. I know ultimately though swearing on the commentary is franks decision because while this is our event, he is taking charge of it and if he want’s to appear more professional or whatever then I don’t mind that either. We’re slowly but surely bringing this up to speed and it is pretty tight, I’m proud of the event.
Trace: While I would normally agree with everything you’ve said, ultimately this is Frank’s brain-child, and I think he should be the one to give the yay or nay on swearing on the commentary. From what I understand, he is trying to get people to take notice of TW and possibly turn running TW-like events into a part time / full time gig, so he very well might be showing these vids to people outside the community. I haven’t listened to much, if any, commentary for other SF events so I don’t know the amount of swearing going on in those (although I would suspect it’s fairly commonplace). Again, if this were anything else I would say swear all you want, but I think we should hear from the man with the plan on this one.
Jeff: Why does it matter if people walk in front of the camera after the match? I agree that we should have a few seconds of leeway before and after the match for commentary and recording, but not sure how people walking in front of the camera matters.
Edit: Shawn and I agree.
i think it matters because its just plain ugly to have people walk in front of the camera. if we are on the subject of being professional. Do you think other communities have people walking in front of their vids? but thats just me. it looks ugly and tacky.
oh btw… i like how you said my name jeff phetsom whatever you said lol
