Tournament at the Silver Coin: Jan 27th, 7PM

As per Preppy’s third statement on posting tourney notices, I have created another thread for the tourney. So, here are the details:

Casual Tournament at the Silver Coin!

(pay for your own rounds)

(360)941-7562 if you have any questions

The Silver Coin is located in the Cascade Mall in Burlington near the food court

Check out the Casuals at the SC if want to see how it’s come along so far

Holy crap MSH vs Street Fighter??

Oh man I wanna come, I’m not that great at the game but ah the memories, Dhalsim and Wolverine for the win!

Good to hear some people actually have some interest ^_^. I said that there were some changes due to the gambling restrictions that got thrown at me. I’ve changed it to a “$3 registration fee” rather than “buy-in” and named myself as a “sponsor” for the tournament. The manager of the arcade has allowed me to choose prizes appropriate for the winner of each tourney (I’ll let them pick). I’ll also be giving out the registration fees for each game to the winners, so cash AND cheesy arcade prizes are up or grabs:rofl:

If anything, I’d love for people to show up to help grow a scene here (definitely a trip out of charity rather than a worthwhile prize) Plus, you can show Paul and I up on our console tourney for 3s, CVS2, MVC2 (no longer on the Dreamcast, unless someone brings one, as mine died last night finally), Tekken 5, Soul Calibur 2, Tekken Tag Tournament, Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution, etc. Of course, they won’t all be in the mix, but decided by interest.

Anyways, If you’d like to put some interest in a growing scene a bit north of 253, take some time to head up and whip the scrubs into shape (including myself)

I refuse to lose in 3S and T5! lol

Show up folks help us out eh?

Does anyone have a PS2 they could bring for a console tourney? The adapters for my PS3 won’t be in till next week.

Thanks again to Preppy, the ONLY one who showed up besides Paul, Curtis, Allen, Curtis’s friend, and some mall employees. Sorry the tourney was a flop. I’ll try and see if I can do it again at a better time of year. I’ll be trying again this spring, probably. So sad

i didn’t realize that the 27th was this saturday…and i couldn’t do anything to get out of work. Although i would’ve only showed up for SC2…someone shoot me in the back for saying that.

No worries - I figured that the first one is always a dry run. The Marvel cab should be good now (although you should get them to order a couple more convex buttons and secretly replace those - and jab P2 is loose - and p360s really are that much better) at the least. It’s actually probably better that people didn’t come when the Marvel cabinet’s A2 was broken - gotta make sure that stuff is working, as it greatly changes the game when it’s not. Works now.

Don’t put CapCom 2nd - CapCom goes third. Use assists more. Learn how to counter Cable so that your own Cable gets better/more advanced - he’s got fascinating tactics (watch Row).

In MSHvSF, pick Wolvie and mash strong for three levels in ten seconds or less. That sets you up for Shuma’s Chaos Dimension or Zangief’s Double Atomic Buster. Just launch those guys who were playing on Easy mode. And Captain America eats up most of the slop that I was seeing, even if you can’t execute on the sticks. I had picked poor teams because I didn’t want to show anything interesting in practice - whoops.

Plus the veggie chow main from the Honolulu BBQ shop in the mall was pretty good.

I don’t really use CapCom, but thanks for the tip. Assists have gotta be my weakest point, I must admit. MSHvSF…   I still think there’s good reason that Friday was the first day I played it semi-seriously. Ever. And that’s gonna be replaced by CVS2 on Monday (refer to Casuals @ the Silver Coin).

The chow mein is good at Honolulu, but the empress chicken at the Oriental Express is even better. And you HAVE to try the gyoza at the Honolulu BBQ. Fantastic stuff (though not entirely vegetarian-friendly, I think)

I suppose you’re into healthier foods, then? Or vegetarian? Guess I better ask these types of things in the “Get to know a negro better” thread…
