If I have anything to say about it, Bellreisa will be weeping for a good long time :P. I like this game. Not letting it die ^_^.
So I hope they’re happy tears O_o.

Joking aside, I want to talk about Yuyuko.
Does anyone here play her? I’ve been trying to figure her out lately and seem stuck on all her unsafe moves. You really have to be patient and precise or you get punished. She’s got a great projectile wall and her melee attacks are decent, but is there a special move combination on her that’s more worth using than her B and C projectiles?
The one I’m absolutely keeping is her piercing laser. That thing is awesome.
dunno lol
I play Marisa and just 6C everything when people try to zone lolol.
Can I get a serious answer, please?
My only experience is playing with Alice, and even then, I’m not in any position to give anyone Alice advice.
What are you asking specifically? I’m not quite sure what you’re asking. Also, you could try asking the SWR channel on irc.
That’s okay. I’m kind of in the same position with Alice since I don’t play her. :\
The question is:

I appreciate the referral to IRC, but I’m also trying to generate some constructive discussion about the game itself in this thread ^^.
If anyone plays Tenshi, Remilia, Marisa or Patchouli I can offer some advice, but any advice I can use to improve my game with them is also welcome.
Too vague.
You’re probably better off asking for games against people who play Yuyuko, and then post your findings.
Best thing you can do is go to the IRC and ask for a yuyu player to play you. Or if you see me and im not busy il play a few games with you.
i dont really play this much but i experienced some horrid input lag today so i wanted to ask about the game’s netcode
i was playing beatsstayflowin and getting input delay of around 1 second + dropped inputs like crazy. for example, sometimes i would try to do a jumping attack…and end up just jumping (a second late too ). or i would do a dash and just stand there instead of doing a dash attack…and yes i know how youre supposed to do a dash attack. at some points i would have even accepted dash. stop. attack, lol. anyways long story short it was basically unplayable for me. i dont claim to be able to actually DO anything special in the game since its on mash-for-fun status for me but im pretty sure i can handle a jumping attack…
i have played beatsstayflowin once before and our connection was a lot better that time. had some input lag, but nowhere as bad as this time. wouldnt say it was great but it was playable.
i think the general consensus seems to be that the netplay for this game is pretty solid, so i suspect my computer is being awesome again or something’s up with my control pad. i doubt its the control pad though since im using one of those blue logitech ones and those things last forever.
so yeah, can anyone comment on the quality of the netcode? is like GGPO level? im pretty sure the problem is on my end but i just wanted to make sure. Oh, and im using the ingame netplay option.
Okay. If I have to do that, then I will.
Do you play Yuyuko? If you play Yuyuko, then what special moves of hers do you put in your deck and why?
I could do that. Though I won’t be able to do any of that until the weekend.
DominoLogic: The netcode is more 2DF level. It’s a direct connection between you and the opponent, so a lot of lag on one side can lag the whole match something awful. I can’t say I’ve had input lag issues before though, just slowdown and frame freezing.
Certain controllers can have more input lag than others. Have you tried overclocking the USB a bit to see if it improves performance?
Alright, IRC time… hope to see some of you there
So is this game competant in it’s recent form? I remember hearing all sorts of bad stuff about it, but it’s been out for a while, so surely most of those problems would have been fixed, right?
I’m considering getting it, since I really enjoyed IaMP.
The huge pushback on wrongblock seems to have been fixed, but the silly weather conditions still exist and can’t be turned off.
As far as character balance goes, I have no idea.
I’m on now and can’t find you. I’ll stick around for a while, but hope I can catch you.
I haven’t played IaMP, but personally I think this game is better than competant; it is quite good. Most of the problems people have with it are Typhoon, Spring Haze and the wrongblock pushback.
For the former two weathers, they’re problematic but honestly not that bad. Especially since it’s possible to actually utilize them to your advantage through weather cards (which is also fully stoppable by pressure and knockdowns). When they randomly happen, you just have to improvise o_o. It’s not that big a deal IMO.
For the wrongblock, yes, it’s retarded that it works better than border escape. But at the same time, nobody’s complaining about kara throwing or Marvel infinites.
As far as character balance goes, I can’t really say- but the tournaments on the Wiki show quite a varied group of high ranking chars once you get past the demo where it’s Aya Aya Aya Aya. I think that in and of itself is pretty impressive, but I also have no context for it.
ggs Carbunkle
When your Patchoulli goes airborne, I have so much trouble finding an opening. I must have run into 20 of those fireballs.
I need to work on fighting characters in the air with Alice. I don’t think I have anti air options on the ground, so I’ll have to learn how to fight air to air. Unfortunately, most of Alice’s air moves seem slow and punishable
GGs ^^.
You’re pretty good with Alice. I find Alice very hard to use, so I’d imagine with a more straightforward character you’d be even better.
The doll pressure is incredibly aggravating in the corner since Patchy pretty much HAS to dash up out of it or she won’t get a hit in edgewise. XD
I managed to get hold of the game. I’m liking it so far, but in comparison to the rigid structure of IaMP I find the random elements (spellcards, weather, ect) to be strange and confusing.
I love the new melee attack system and full flight though. And the characters feel better and more balanced all round.
My fav Yuyuko is a lot of fun in SWR (not that she wasn’t fun in IaMP). Running away to the edge of the stage and filling the screen with butterflies is a lot of fun and it wasn’t possible in IaMP due to the more restricted stage size.
Reisen seems like a very weak character with some interesting attacks. I really wish they’d do more to balance her. At least make some of those silly illusion bullets actually do something. Is it possible for them to give characters new attacks through patches? Because I think some of her moves could benefit from being changed completely.
I think that’s also part of what turns people off to the game. I’m used to games like Smash though, so I don’t really see random elements as problematic. That is just me, though.
The flight is awesome. I love flying around. The game is pretty defensive due to it all things told, but a rushdown is still possible.
You play Yuyuko too? We should totally fight ^_^.
They do change move properties via patches frequently but I’ve yet to see them add or remove moves as a whole. My friend plays a decently mean Reisen, but it’s all at mid-range. Unfortunately, he’s the only Reisen I’ve ever fought so I can’t say for sure how well she’d do in actual high level play.
Just one more thing: On the wiki I see a lot of spellcards that I don’t have. Even though I downloaded the full unlock, I don’t seem to ever get the more powerful ones. Am I doing something wrong?
Also, I’m not good or confident enough to try versing anyone yet, and my connection is probably going to lag a lot.
Edit: nevermind, it was just the deck arrangement.
As for Yuyuko, I find that it’s a good thing to upgrade her ancient egyptian laser beam (236 B/C) as soon as possible. Even though you lose the ability to do it in the air, it’s so much meatier. I don’t like to upgrade her 412 series though, since I find the spread of butterflies from the C version to be much better than the upgrade.
Her 6C is such a great move. It hangs around for ages and makes an excellent tool for spacing.
