Changelog is on mizuumi and 90% incomprehensible, but it mentions nothing about any character changes. Just about every entry is a bug fix of some kind.
ugh oh well. I guess they need more time for testing before they go making more balance changes.
Thats a good thing honestly.

Kind of waiting for this.
That’s a really slick combo video ^_^. About time Hisou Tensoku got some. Thanks for linking, rikimtasu!
oooh, very nice. I learned some stuff from this. I loved the editing too. Very entertaining to watch.
The first major tournament in Japan is going to happen on October 10th (Bullet Action the 6th). So, it will still be too soon for tier lists? (After the tournament)
I’m more of an IaMP player, but for some reason I’m really curious about the UNL tier list (I want to compare it with the old SWR list at Mizuumi and see how much the game has changed, if any big difference at all).
I was wondering what was happening with the tournaments. Mizuumi hadn’t posted a new one in a good while. Good to hear Japan is still playing this.
It’s gonna take more than one tournament for a tier list to be solid, but I speculate that tiers are going to be a bit wider than in SWR. I think there’s bigger differences between character ability now and the faster characters like Youmu will be higher up.
Tournament is done. I wasn’t able to watch the Hisouten Soku part, so I don’t know the results. Anyway, the replays should be up in a week.
You can watch the (recorded) IaMP matches at Bellreisa’s stream. Very nice matches. My favorite one was Tazu vs Sekibun.
I don’t know, I think Utsuho has a shot at being high tier even though she’s slow. And it also depends on how people are using cards.
Cool, can’t wait.
Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the intent, but IaMP has a thread. Wouldn’t it be more productive to post that link there?
Eh, I don’t know about high for Utsuho. I think at most she’s gonna be a solid mid. She’s a great character, but has to work harder for her wins than someone like Youmu does.
I think cards will play a role in tiers, but there don’t seem to be any truly overpowering setups due to how random they are when coming up.

???4 ???
1st - Tachiteto Suika
2nd - KamiG Marisa
3rd - kanji nightmare(Sunkakka?) Suika
4th - Yuu-stin Reimu
It was already.
KamiG didn’t run a single spellcard. 100% skill cards and system cards.
For the record, I’m not updating the swr/soku tournaments page anymore. I just don’t care. Someone else can do it, I put the guidelines up on the talk page for it.
Huh. Yeah, Suika’s up there as predicted o_o. I see KamiG picked up Marisa in this too.
That’s rather beside the point.
I’m not 100% certain of the circumstances as I haven’t seen what sort of people KamiG was playing against, but that sort of setup should definitely work all right for Marisa since she’s not very dependant on her spell cards. I’m really interested in seeing what they had in their deck; whether they were running rods, shields or what.
So Marissa is kind of like Reisen then? The only spell cards Reisen should really use is poison potion and green potion (and even then, we have control rods and doll sheils now, which are almost as good for half the effort, so she could even go without the potions)
What it says is that running a no spell card deck undeniably worked for KamiG in that tournament. Doesn’t necessarily mean her spell cards are worthless. Actually, Marisa’s spell cards normally work great alongside system cards; with even 2x Rod a simple dial-a into a master spark does ridiculous damage.
Though I suppose that’s part of why I’m interested in his setup. I’d love to know what he did to cover his bases and what specials he used. It’s also possible that he was just so good in that tournament that he didn’t even need the spell cards.
Keep in mind that spell cards need to consume other cards though. System cards are cheap and quick to activate and so are skill cards. You can use skill cards on the fly without having to look at your deck and worry about what cards you use, therefore not losing your concentration. This is why I like my buff Reisen deck so much.
You’re right about that limitation. I suppose that’s why I’ve been favoring low cost spell cards (2-3) lately.
One thing I realised about Suwako is that she is heavilly spell card reliant.
Her spell cards are great for the most part and can deal some really mean damage for little effort, especially that river spell card. That thing is just nasty.
With helicopter rings and fog, she also has some very nice block strings and pressure because of the way she can cancel her moves into air dashes and such. Her blockstrings aren’t as good as Reisen (she doesn’t do mean chip damage and they aren’t as airtight) but they serve to build up meter for her spell cards.
I find I win with Suwako most when I don’t forget to spam cloud and j.5A > j.5B > airdash > j.5A > helecopter rings > land > etc. pressure, and find opportunities to land her spellcards.
Most useful skill cards for her I find are stone frog, daddy long legs laser, ring helicopter (highly recommended), fog and water fountain. Though Geyser is pretty good as well, I just don’t find myself using it all that often.
The arm/leg lasers are awesome. I think that’s probably her best skill card next to the death cloud. The water fountain is really good too, but I love the ground zoning frog 214 that replaces it, so I never really get to use it. Maybe in an alternate deck.
Her spell cards in general are good. They give you some options to suit your playstyle. I play a really defensive Suwako, so I’m running 4x Shield, 4x Regen Spell Card and 2x Life Regenerators, which she can avoid damage long enough to actually utilize (and it especially hurts when it’s after she’s activated her fourth shield).
I can never find much use for that ring copter. Its hitbox is just so awkward and for some reason it never comes out when I want it to.
I don’t expect to use all four spell cards in a single match, just like I don’t expect to use Jellyfish Princess (Another spellcard that sees a lot of use in matches for me) four times in a match; it’s just there 4x so it’ll be ready when I need it.
the big deal about Ring copter is that it’s a melee special and she does need more of those. However I can’t decide if lasers are better because of just being more versatile and buffing her projectile game.
I play a really, really aggressive Suwako. She has great pressure and can flow from attack to attack when you know what cancels into what, and is especially threatening when she has a cloud out.
Speaking of clouds, I found a great corner trap with her, although you probably know it. Knock the opponent into the corner, then just when they’re about to wake up, set a cloud and jump cancel it. Because of the way the cloud homes, they really are forced to either dash or super jump unless they want to block it and suffer a status effect. The moment they try to do anything, jump in and use suwako’s j.8A. Most of the time, you’ll either hit them while they’re trying to graze (tree or Suwako’s body) or get them to block, after which you can cancel into any bullet move and then continue the pressure in the corner while your cloud covers you.
j.8A is so good for pressure because it lets you have two melee hitboxes in two different places, lol.
