Touhou Hisou Tensoku - Scarlet Weather Rhapsody Expansion

Well counter picking is fine of course, anyone speedy (Cirno, Youmu, Aya, Hong, etc) is going to give her trouble.

But personally I think you can manage with Komachi. You should still be able to force Utsuho to take risks. Or just sit there and let her take risks, because you can. You probably just need to be a lot more patient than normal and not rely on the same things you would against other characters.

Komachi should be fast enough to deal with Utsuho easy. Like Xenozip said, you make her open herself up and capitalize.

On the ground, this should be easy enough with Komachi’s ranged melee and coins. Space yourself so you can respond quickly when she acts, but so she doesn’t just absorb all your danmaku with her dense bullets. Be wary of her 6B atom, though. The little green lights on it are ridiculously dense.

In the air, Komachi’s got a lot of nice tools for her. She uses any of her cannons or air specials, it’s a great time to respond with Komachi’s Death Sign ‘Scythe of Final Judgment’ spellcard (Provided said air bullet/special won’t hit you), which will come down right on top of her. For specials, Bound Spirits of the Earth (which shoots straight up) makes for a great way to capitalize on Utsuho’s air openings.

Utsuho actually has more options on the ground, believe it or not. Especially once she gets good alt cards. When she’s in the air, I suggest pressuring her hard with dash in and j.2A. It outranges most of her aerial moves. Don’t bother using whisps/bullets because she’ll just truck through them with her danmaku.

You know which Komachi move is really good against Utsuho? Her alt 236 scythe skill card. The one which cuts in a bit arc at a set distance. Utsoho’s casting is so slow that you should be able to tag her with this often if she tries to shoot from a distance.

Speaking of Komachi, something funny happened when I was playing her vs a Reimu cpu. I got bored and sat at one side of the stage just spamming 5C and managed to get about 4 of them on screen spaced nicely apart. Reimu tried to do her teleport kick and came down on top of the one closest to me, got hit, and then was sent bouncing onto the other ones from there and ended all the way back where she came from. It was like dominoes or something. lol.

Has anyone translated the patch notes for v1.02 yet?

Whenever a new patch comes out, the translated patch notes end up being put on here: http://swr.mizuumi.net/index.php/Changelog

It’s pretty much all bugfixes save for tweaks to the new chars.

Ahh ok thanks, when I checked there last night they just had the Japanese notes up.

I am experimenting with Sanae. I don’t believe she’s as bad as the wiki says. Whoever wrote that seemed rather biassed.

Also, you know what makes me sad in the pants? The fact that they BUTCHERED Suwako’s theme. One of the coolest touhou themes and their overdone remix sounds nothing like the original :<

And now all they have is poorly written engrish, lol.

I think Sanae appears pretty crappy at a glance, so whoever wrote whatever was up on the wiki probably just wrote it on day-1 after mashing some buttons. Same with Suwako, these new characters will take a lot of time to develop and we won’t know their actual potential until some one really breaks them down properly.

Also, nothing beats how badly they butchered Yukari’s Evening Star theme. Accordion remix, seriously? I thought lack of trumpets would be an improvement, but no we get god awful accordions in our ears.

I don’t mind Yukari’s accordian theme (because I like accordians) but I agree that the old one was much better. At least you can still pick it out as being her theme though, unlike the theme of a certain earth goddess. >_>

At least they did a brilliant job of Reisen and Cirno’s themes. The music in this game is pretty darn good for a doujin. Sounds orchestrated. (and probably is)

I could not agree more, honestly. Both on the massive underestimation of Sanae and Suwako; and Yukari’s Night Falls~ Evening Star: Shit Mix.

One of the reasons I’m hoping we eventually get a way to do music replacement in Hisou Tensoku is to both replace Night Falls~ Evening Star with the rave version from Concealed the Conclusion and to find a much better remix of Border of Life to put in there.

I really love what they did with Shanghai Teahouse, though. I’m also glad they picked that over Meirin’s boring boss theme.

Suwako can attack you from angles I never even knew existed.

"Oh look, she’s flying around up there. I’m just going to sh…hit by SUDDEN TREE

And if we had a music replace feature, I would just use this in plaaace of Suwako’s stage theme:

wait. EVERYONE has an instant kill?

oh lol. That looks edited or hacked or something.

I’ve read that the infinites are an homage to Hokuto no Ken.

Even if that’s the case, it’s bad for the gameplay (ignore it’s lolSWR for one second). There are references enough in the game.

UFO was released at Comiket (in the same day as UNL/Hisouten Soku).

I think damage is significantly increased by the weather + counterhits.

What infinites? Do you mean the Monsoon ones? Those only work in practice mode.

I’m gonna say these aren’t doable in real matches at all. Reimu’s isn’t, I know that for certain (Activating Fantasy Heaven then using Debug to get more spell). Marisa’s can be done, but requires that both you and your opponent are amped out on 4x Power Rods and it must be on a specific weather.

And actually, I rather think that’s all of them save for maybe the Youmu v Fantasy Heaven one :P. 4x Power Rods on both sides, a specific weather (Drizzle) and some unknown extra req (maybe the counterhits) that pushes their damage beyond the 88-95% they’d cap at. Getting both sides with 4x Power Rods at any point is unlikely enough. Nevermind it’d come at the end of the match if it’d come anywhere. Then you’d have to get the spellcard when Drizzle comes by.

Pretty much SF3’s redizzy combo videos all over again.

So I’m testing Suwako now (I edited her wiki to make it less biassed and more informative based on what I know about her) and I’ve got to say that her ‘snakes’ skillcard is a bit annoying. It bugs me that the only way to activate it is with a directional spell declair on the lilly pad. Doesn’t it have any animation of it’s own? Also, the way it randomly decides to do nothing and never goes away bothers me as well. Because if it weren’t so inconsistent it would be a VERY VERY useful card for her.

It flat out doesn’t do anything in training mode either so it’s hard to test.

The snakes card, once activated, randomly causes one of the three auras when you hit the enemy.

It’s not useful at all, honestly. I think her default Death Cloud is the best of her 22 series. The Death Cloud is incredibly dense; the only thing I’ve found that it can’t reliably absorb is Utsuho’s huge 6C fireball. Plus as it levels, its damage becomes pretty good.

The denseness alone is more valuable than anything else that causes those auras; the damage is what seals the deal. Using the cloud and frog specials, Suwako can control the ground with decent reliability.

I just realized Sanae’s super that you see in the HnK parody is also Shin Akuma’s super from CvS2
