If you guys want to complain about SBX being in the tourney, you need to understand that it’s in there because of Capcom - which is still the most influential developer/publisher associated with Tougeki. A new Basara game is coming up, as well as second season of the anime, so Capcom probably sees this is as an good opportunity to further promote the franchise.
SF4 is not that popular in Japan in comparison (although it gets enough play to be worthy of Tougeki) to other 2D fighters this generation either, but it will probably remain in Tougeki for the next several years just for the fact that it’s a Capcom title.
You see similar situation with Evo as well with inclusion of TvC:UAS. The turnout for that game will most likely be fairly small, but it’s still in there because Capcom U.S. really wants to push the game.
Yeah, I think one of those Masamune/Yukimura fangirls made it into the SBO game selecting commitee or something this year. 
But a strange choice indeed. I wonder if there’ll be much qualifiers for it at all, even.

Duh, it’s a fucking obvious choice because of how well the Arcadia Cup went.
But yeah, I think people are forgetting that SBO games aren’t based upon what’s played. SBO sets the standard for what is played in Japan. No one plays SBX in Japan? Well I’m sure they will now that it’s an SBO game. KoF stopped getting play for a couple of years in Japan just because it wasn’t an SBO game. I thought they would do something special this year and have a bunch of throwback games like 98 and ST and hell even HNK.
Great to see ST back. I hope to see US qualifiers again and for our team to make it past 1st round.

Off the top of my head, I think that this year features the lowest number ever of overlapping titles between Evo and SBO. Other than the possibility of Evo’s “players’ choice” slot, there is only one only game that will be appearing at both events this year: T6BR.

But still…SBX…? They couldn’t wait until they released the new version or something? This still just seems senseless.
(For anyone who doesn’t know, even though console T6 only says “T6” on the box, it is actually the equivalent of arcade T6BR and not arcade T6 vanilla.)
Obviously a lot of these discrepancies are due primarily to what is available on each platform, as well as the total number of games that each event is willing to have in their roster, but the simple observation remains unarguably valid.
SF4: Evo is using the newer version (Super), SBO is using the older one (vanilla).
SF2: Evo is using the newer version (HDR), SBO is using the older one (ST a.k.a. X).
BB: Evo is using the older version (CT), SBO is using the newer one (CS).
Evo is running TvC exclusively, using the newer version (UAS) over the older one (CGH).
SBO is running the following series exclusively: AH(3), KOF(02UM), VF(5Rc), GG(AC), SF3(3S), SBX.
For the Evo players’ choice spot, here are some of the games that are most likely to be voted in, in no particular order.
Yes at SBO this year: 3S, AC
Not at SBO this year: CvS2, MB(AAFT), MvC2*
*I think that Marvel will be hit with the ultimatum of PS3 or nothing; Evo will not touch the DC ever again.
Console ports already exist of '02UM and SBX, but the former is a very unlikely cadidate and the latter is a fish in the desert.
No console ports have been announced for AH3 (yet) or VF5R (hopes, dreams, and magic wishes).

the fact MBAA is nowhere to be found on SBO or EVO (well…yet.) is kinda sad. I really hope someone upstairs sees this.
