Losing anyone to cancer is always horrible, but especially for the gaming community losing TotalBiscuit is a massive loss as he was a champion of consumer rights and used his popularity to give the lesser known guys some shine. As a critic he was as classy and objective as they come he was able to talk about why other people might like a game even if he himself does not like it seperating his personal feelings from whether a game accomplishes it’s goal in whatever genre it is and whether it’s worth buying for fans of that type of game. I didn’t know him personally but from his public statements he handled cancer like a boss all 4 years he’s been fighting he never stopped his work in gaming continuing to upload content despite being terminal, the man officiall retired 3 weeks before his death now that’s dedication and work ethic if I ever saw it. Dude has nonchalantly talked about living with stage 4 cancer and actually fought every step of the way being optimistic and hopeful no matter how severely his health was deteriorating.
I just don’t know what to say. You will be missed TB. Keep gamin on man even in the afterlife.
Maybe he’ll complain about ethics in post-mortem journalism now.
Never heard of him.
Was pretty indifferent about him as a gaming personality, but no one should die that young to cancer or at all. I see a lot of people spitting on his grave in his passing because of some of his beliefs and past actions. Not sure if spitting on a 33 year old cancer victim is a hill I would be proud to die on.
Heard some bitter video game developers whom TB shit on their games were the ones throwing shade. Negative reviews are serious business apparently.
A Bioware developer celebrated his death because he shitted on two games he worked on. He ended up losing his job over it.
Give us the deets yo.
Wasn’t one of those games Mass Effect Andromeda? Dunno what he was really expecting LOL
No one should disrespect the dead.
So why even reply?
I’ve watched a ton of his video over the years; particularly the video games first impressions/review videos. They were quite informative and interesting: so good, in fact, I watched all his earlier videos that i missed. I never cared for his podcast work, so when he shifted away from first impressions to almost exclusive podcasting, I unsubbed and kind of forgot about him.
I never was eye-to-eye with his non-gaming views, particularly on health care, which we have argued about before. Regardless, he did good work and left a big and positive impact in the video game review industry.
RIP
i posted on teamliquid, and called out the dumb basement dweller loser pieces of crap who had hated on TB in the past. he had contributed so much to the community and was awesome. ryung playing on TB’s team, axiom, and typing “imba imba imba” when he lost to sniper in the GSL was legendary. his only flaw was responding to and feeding the useless fat trolls who have accomplished nothing in their life.
dude was a caster, team owner, tournament organizer, content producer, multiple podcast guest (loved him on state of the game) and all around good person. i only know him from SC2 but from the reddit threads its clear he impacted lots of people in a positive way. which is more than the useless trolls who hated on him can say
It was too early for him. But that can be said for millions of people.
