Wow I never even heard of these place before until now and I live in the same state. Wish I knew before…
date has been changed for the auction, and first post updated/edited.
Does that mean everything is being handled in person and online isn’t supported? That’s how I read what they’re saying…
Wow how sad, this place was fantastic when i went…
That is a real shame about TGA closing…
I’m currently located in SE Minnesota and there really is next to no fighting game community around here - much less “arcades” with anything other than Buck Hunter.
I was FLOORED when I was able to get a stand-up MVS Neo Geo unit from one of the places around here… but anyways…
I’m wondering if anyone here is planning on going to the auction. I’ve been in the market for a few candy cabs for a long time and this is probably my best chance at obtaining authentic Japanese cabs…
My only concern is whether or not 4-5 cabs is enough for the auction-supported freight company to allow. I may end up driving a pickup full of arcade cabs halfway across the country -_-.
This is, of course, assuming the prices for those cabs don’t spin out of control at the auction (I’d pay about $700-$800 per cab). I’m betting (more like hoping) that most of the people there will be
1.) business owners, and
2.) business owners not interested in candy cabs.
I want to give these machines a good home and maybe kick-start a mini community out here.
We shall see…
Yeah, that’s pretty much the deal. And why I’m looking at getting plane tickets to MA in the next few days. The problem is the freight policy I believe…the reason for doing in person auctions is to get rid of the equipment as fast as possible. After the auction there is just a three hour window to pick up the goods. I doubt most online bidders could make arrangements for that remotely unless it was through the auction site itself.
I would love an online auction, as would I’m sure many others on this forum.
I believe TGA supplied a DDR cabinet to Anime Boston for a number of years, and possibly more to our video game programming. As an AB Employee, I thank TGA with the utmost sincerity for giving us more than we could supply to the attendees of the convention; having an actual arcade in our game room was awesome
dang
I’m going with my lab’s director, hoping to pick up a few cabs for our game lab. unfortunately it looks like they’ve pulled the PCB’s out of all the astro city cabinets and are selling them separately. May just grab a few empty cabs and stick MAME boxes in them.
My sympathies, but why does the OP ask for help keeping the owner out of jail???
Being insolvent isn’t a crime…
Was TGA incorporated?
Auction tomorrow starts 10 am!
just so everyone knows for the AUCTION tomorrow:
@ 10 am, they will begin auctions for ALL video game items.
then at Noon they will be doing the real estate part of the auction.
lastly they’ll do the bowling after the real estate has been finished.
BASICALLY, everyone needs to be there at or before 10am! please be there on time so you wont miss a chance to take a piece of TGA home.
Also, as for items sold, the cabinets are going to be sold as VERSUS cabinets (aka Head to Head) you can NOT just buy one. Also whichever h2h setup you choose will INCLUDE the game inside of it.
Example: the ST cab with the left/right sided panels will be what you buy. You can’t switch out the ST board that comes with it with another setup. (pretty positive you can’t switch it…)
Another example: SFIV cabinets (the HD delta cabs) will be sold AS SINGLE CABINETS with one sf4 pcb board inside. So there will be 4 seperate SF4 cabinets with a sf4 board in each. BUT if you want to play h2h with it, you will need two setups.
i hope this clears things up for some people, so hope you all saved up and can bring a piece of history with you forever. :china:
Gavin
grats to all who bought stuff, and thanks for supporting andy, i had family crap i needed to attend to.
Congrats to all. I don’t think I’ll ever see such a scene again. I can’t rightly call myself part of the TGA community but nonetheless I was deeply moved by all of the love and support outpouring today. I’ll never forget it.
The MvC2 cabs have a new home at MIT’s GAMBIT game lab where they will be well-loved and well cared for.
