Tokido vs. Filipino Champ

What the fuck? Was Tokido trolling? I don’t want to say too much before others weigh in, but either way, I’m not too impressed by his play.

Edit - ok, I watched some more of it, and he must have been trolling. Maybe he doesn’t like Champ for some reason, but the whole thing was just disappointing. Wish I hadn’t spent part of my life finding the archive of that and watching it, excited to see high level stuff, only to see Tokido demon flipping over and over and over. And if he wasn’t trolling, um…

yes, of course he was

he did 22 demonflips in one of the matches, and only 4 the first round. 18 flips in 2 rounds is ridiculous.

Trolling indeed.

Was it Sim vs Akuma? You have to flip against Sim. Sim can’t deal with the dive kicks without opening himself to ultra 1.

no, these were random flips over and over again even after champ showed he could aa them.

He also had 2-3 rounds where he didn’t block once. and probably 2 more where he blocked 4 times or less.

I assume I am watching the right match at this moment and I don’t see any trolling. He is playing the Sim match exactly the way he should. You have to scare sim into trying to AA you. Sim just can’t deal with the flip because it hits his limbs and he has to take chances to AA it. If he makes a bad read Akuma can U1 on reaction.

From where I was sitting, he started off strong and played normally. His flip use was both sensible and minimal and he largely did lk flip dive kicks to bust Sim’s pokes.

Then frustration got the better of him when Champ started getting the hang of his style and punishing his offensive options. Once Champ got a leg up on consecutive wins, Tokido turned the whole thing into a trollfest. I noticed when he gained offensive momentum again he played normally. When he lost it, he went retarded.

I was pretty disappointed because this is a match I play a lot VS a mate of mine who commands Australia’s best Dhalsim and I’m always curious to see how others handle the situations I find myself in. At any rate, Champ’s adaptability impressed me. Tokido chucking in the towel didn’t. Who knows though - perhaps he was sandbagging due to the forthcoming USA VS The World session? It wasn’t a money match nor a tournament game. Perhaps a casual exhibition I guess?

Australia’s best Dhalsim thats like being the principal of a homeschool.

Hey try coming up with something original if you are going to bash Australia. Don’t rip off epic rap battles.

Also I respect the Australian players. Played a couple of them at Evo and they got some really good players.

He was trolling. He basically went from playing legit to using demonflip exclusively every single chance.

Yea actually now that I finished I could tell near the end. By the end he wasn’t playing safe at all.

links please? or what is the time on the archive?

I agree that it’s possible he just started trolling as soon as Champ got an advantage, which is pretty lame. I saw a video where F Champ disrespected Tokido pretty badly, and if that had anything to do with it, then I respect Tokido for sticking up for himself, but he didn’t have to do it on stream and waste our time.

Was pretty obvious that he was trolling (even Arturo thought so on the stream). I personally thought that he’s just trying some stuff out and see if Sim players can punish or not.

here it is; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbkMsMT9e74

Tokido was giving a free live lesson to all Akuma players on when it’s safe to demon flip against Sim and when it’s not.

This set was just to entertain the stream viewers to kill some time…dont look into it too deep…

Yeah I believe he was trolling (He obviously didn’t care), and also I believe Season’s Beating proved why Akuma should not be nerfed period end of story.
