I plan on being in attendance. If anyone wants to join me for the team, post up!
AFAIK, there will be tournaments the last saturday of each month if the plans stay the same. The fei player was actually from eastern washington (Pullman or Moscow, I think. Maybe Spokane), and came way out for the tournament. I haven’t kept in touch with him personally, so I don’t know. Some of the other decent players in the area didn’t show up due to weather or scheduling conflicts that last time.
Wow. I don’t personally think Seattle can put up enough players to fill the AfroDojo 5 and have each player contribute as much as those teams, let alone another ToeFu dojo 5. Unless there’s some SERIOUS leveling up between now and next season and the entire mentality at Greg’s changes, I think that’s a bad idea. Joining the national DojoSports 5v5 league, that is.
Jaimy that’s like saying a baseball teams should just not play because they aren’t as stacked as the yankee’s.
I think cali is strong but what about mid west, canada, portland, east coast, or other areas. I think this could be something really challanging for us and might motivate our scene to become better and be able to compete against the cali teams.
Also I would jump at the opportunity to play against those guys, even if I went 0 and 5.
I said “Unless there is some serious leveling up”. Think about things this way before getting sour: There are regional teams in this league, so there is equal representation from across the country where people play lots of SF. If there are two Seattle teams, Seattle would either be splitting their best players up and weakening the representation of the region or have one team (ToeFu) that is just way weaker and make it seem like there are a few decent players in our region and the rest aren’t any good. Not to mention the problem of favoritism that might be felt by the regions/teams elsewhere that weren’t included because they didn’t come from the same area code as Jason Cole, the founder of the league.
Teams that don’t put up numbers or even a good fight don’t get viewers, don’t get support, and don’t get the attention of sponsors. I think it’s worth re-evaluating next season when people have stepped their game up, but entering what would be a chump team into the league would only offer a little growth to the Toe-Fu players, and give the teams that face them byes, essentially. This would weaken the Dojo Sports league as a whole. If you don’t like my opinion, offer a better argument. This isn’t personal, this is looking at the community as a whole.
I know my place in all of this. I am just waiting on the NW’s blessings as well as Coles to enter the league. I will continue to train and level up. thanks for the reality check guys:sad:
I got the impression that in season two, only the best team in the NW would play other regions. I thought that unless toefu beats afro, bokkin’s team, etc., we won’t be matched up against anyone from cali. Doesn’t that make sense?
I have no further arguments on this issue, but hope that what frank and jaimy are saying won’t discourage the toe-fu dojo team members from doing everything possible to get to the level we need to be to be able to compete against the countries best.
I would like to rebump the issue of upgrading the toe-fu dojo setup and repairing the dojo’s xbox.
Jaimy what would it take for us to fix it up? Parts? Cost? Or would it make more sense to just replace it?
Couldn’t have put better myself. jamie did offer to fix my xbox :china: i think i might have to take you up on that sometime sir. i hope the offer i still on the table. as for upgrading the dojo, im all for it!
