Toe-fu DOJO Thread: Read Recent Posts for Updates!

Spamming chicken wing owns my Bison, luckily Jag tooth owns chicken wing. I vill crush you! lol

Spamming Cwing beats scrubs. Stop me spammin and I’ll start playin. LOL Fei Long.

2 things :

  1. Bragging about second place = :lame:
  2. Adon v your Fei long = Jag tooth, jag kick, Jag win

Just thought I’d quote this timeless piece.

LOL me too. This is priceless.

I’m furious I got 2nd. I even reset GFs and couldn’t pull it off. I’ll be in training mode and stalking boxers for weeks now.

Jag tooth/jag kick are all moves that are punishable on reaction, especially from a predictable player.

sHK/dP

Fei Long.

I should know this better than anyone. My 2nd- 3rd place curse is terrible.

4th place is the new 1st place.

I’m excited for the fei v adon grudge match next time!

lol zafo… i wonder who took 4th…

i am too!!

12/4 recap…

:woot:to alot of new faces at the dojo! thats what i like to see, new characters making an appearance. special thanks to kuenai(the random warrior), leonv(thanks for coming out!), other makoto player(forgot your name)

GGs to everyone on 3s! that was dope! it got my blood boiling for more 3s action here, i officially have the key to learning any character in 3s. i will be leveling up my urien and sean to the max! i will be a force to be reckoned with at the next 3s toe-fu tourney wink wink:nunchuck:

Very special thanks to Crash99 hooking up the dojo with the 3s appreciation disc and pluggin the other toe fu master with his first stick! uriah is was soooo happy with it lol thanks for bringing your friend out for his first sparring session too! i hope he had a good time:tup:

NEXT WEEK SSF4TOURNEY!!! just a heads up everyone, this tourney we will be upping the stakes a little. 10 dollar entry, 2 to dojo, 8 in pot, top three cash prize payouts split 70-20-10.
the 2 to the dojo will help us cover food for everyone. Big ups to everyone that has shown our toe-fu tip jar love!! good karma is the best feeling ever.

the Toe fu dojo will be taking a break from tourneys for a couple weeks after this tourney so i hope we have a good turnout! will duggish come reclaim his title from cole?! will we see this infamous fei v adon grudge match?! will some of the new faces make any noise in the brackets?! :looney: so many possibilities!!

the reason we are taking a break from tournaments is so people can have more training time in between tourneys. we will continue with casual sparring sessions saturdays to help people level up. i have been speaking with various key members of our community about how we can best facilitate leveling up. by having more sparring sessions instead of tourneys is a way to increase playtime for everyone. i support this. another key part we want to emphasize here is asking questions like “why did that work?” or “why didnt that work?” or “what could i have done different?”.

marinate on this people. see yall next time!

Thanks a ton to Greg for hosting again, I had a great time! Good games to all I played there, and I hope more people come out to future events to level up!

To expand a little on what Greg has already said, those “how did that work?” and “why can’t I do ___?” kind of questions need to be asked more, and answered. We have quite a few good players in the area, and most of them are content to just beat on people and chat about the game with others who have the knowledge, but we need more senseis! Teachers can be anyone, from noobs that happen to know all the frame data for their one character to people that can play every matchup and have super execution and reactions.

This lack of teachers isn’t necessarily because anyone isn’t willing to help others, its usually because we get into the zone while playing and get that tunnel vision where we don’t think about what the other player is doing wrong unless it’s to punish it. You newer, less experienced players need to ask more questions and takes notes on your losses! It’ll help you improve so much. And the veteran street fighters or studious, talented ones need to step up and start offering advice more! This scene has a lot of potential. It’s filled with tons of new blood ready to learn this game for real and plenty of mid to high level players that could improve and force that stagnant top 5 pool of players to step it up. The better the lowest level player in the scene is, the better the whole scene is. Let’s get our fucking learning caps on, folks.

I enjoyed reading this post.

I sometimes attempt to extend my internal SF data and philosophies to all those willing to listen, but it’s difficult for those other than frame Robos to really understand what SF data I’m trying convey. The frames aren’t really too important early anyways, just the spacing. When people think that answer A always wins in scenario B they normally fail simply because answer A only works in specific spacing. When your opponent can walk in and out of that spacing, this makes things difficult. People need to focus on their spacing so they can compete with footsies. High level players don’t walk back and forth like mad men for no reason, it’s to control the spacing and not let their opponent get the upper hand in the footsie battle. Understanding and controlling the spacing throughout a match helps you control the pace at which the match is played and allows you to feel comfortable in your offensive/defensive groove. :coffee:

I just talked to Greg. I’ll be there at the tournament on Saturday. Since I’m so free, I doubt I will compete but if stations free up then I’m down to get bodied in casuals.

I’ll be back for my title.

After a month away from being busy I’m coming back to this.

I got finals so I can’t go, but I was wondering. Does anyone bring any other games besides SSF4?
