I see http://www.focusattack.com/sanwa-jlw-um-8-lb-30n-joystick/ here. That’s what I get then? I need to buy a balltop for it too, but it says " Sanwa LB-35 balltop will not fit on the JLW-UM-8-LB-30N. Only the LB-30N will fit" so I need to get a special type of ball top now?
That will fit in my case without any issues correct?
If anyone could answer the other questions I have in my previous post that would be grand! Thanks a ton!
Sanwa JLW-UM-8 is for larger thread tops the Bat Top and 45mm Ball tops, and they do not need the bat top adapter.
Also the JLW-UM-8 has a thicker shaft
Sanwa JLW-TM-8 has the normal 6mm thread for fitting normal ball tops. Need the adapter for bat tops.
I don’t know why Focus Attack only carries the JLW-UM-8, Paradise Arcade carries both versions.
I’m just trying to try different things to determine what works best for me. I’m planning on getting the different springs, actuators and switches so I can modify my JLF and determine what I like best. I was also told to get a JLW to try that.
So I want the TM - 8 for normal ball tops and the normal shaft right?
Also, how hard is it to change buttons. I want to get some gamerfinger buttons. (Still trying to get an answer on how hard it is to change out the joystick parts / joystick itself).
Changing buttons is not hard
Pull off quick disconnects, and press in tabs to loosen button so it cam come out. Unless the button a screw-in time, then you unscrew the nut holding the button in place.
Joystick. Remove wire harness or all the quick disconnects. Unscrew the ball top. Unscrew screws that hold the Joystick mount plate from control panel.
You will need to ether replace the wire harness or get an adapter if you try the JLW.
Yes, the only way to find out which is the best joystick for you is to try as many as possible.
Which I do know this is not feasible with everyone.
What do you prefer, Darksakul? Can you link me which wire harness to get? I guess the JLF and JLW use different harnesses? Do I have to change my harness on my JLF every time I try a new actuator / spring?
All of this is really damn confusing I wish someone would just give me a bunch of links and I could just add them all to cart and check out! That way I know I won’t miss anything and I’ll have what I need.
So I’m using an injustice gate on my jlf with an oversized actuator, is this overkill. Is that simulating the feel of an LS 40, I’ve never used a seimitsu.
I also placed a washer underneath the e clip so that the kowal actuator covers the entire spring does this effect performance?
Do you modify your JLW in any way? Or do you use it stock? Does it come with the cherry switches?
Also, for trying the JLW do you recommend getting an adapter or replacing the harness? Is any of it difficult? Any links you can provide so I know which to buy would be great.
I also haven’t gotten any answer as to which brands of everything to buy so I know what’s good. Also I’m a little confused about which cherry switches to buy and what I need to buy along with them to make them work. Any links would be great!
So if I buy the JLW TM - 8 (that’s the one I get, right?) I need to get a washer for it too? This is all the information I’m trying to figure out in regards to everything I need to buy. I’m really concerned I’ll miss something and not know wtf something isn’t working.
You can put Cherry on the JLW. The JLW already uses .187" connectors on the switches it uses, you don’t need a harness. I would change the switches, but that’s a personal preference. The spring is already sufficiently stiff on the JLW and I don’t feel like there are any particularly soft/gray zones with regards to actuation (unlike the JLF), so you wouldn’t need an oversized actuator, which is good, since you won’t be able to find one.
The JLW comes with a dust washer, if you want to change it, you can. You could opt for something in the enormous variety of custom dust covers available to the JLF–for example, on my new stick (TMNT theme) I’ll be getting a turtle shell dust washer from paradise.
I don’t see the wire harness for the JLW on paradisearcadeshop. Also, the washer that comes on the JLW seems thin and ugly. Can you tell me how I can find one that is a little better? Also, for a balltop, what’s the standard size? What’s on my madcatz TE? Do I have to use one of the sanwa balltops, or can I just use any LB-35?
Am I missing anything besides what I’ve already asked about / can’t find?
I know that. I’m planning on keeping the JLW @ stock. I just want to try out everything to see what I like best.
In addition to needing the harness, balltop and better washer for the JLW, I also need one of those shaft covers, right? I need to know which type I can get in all of these, and where to find them.
