I agree with you to an extent. I think it would be cool if X-factor was toned down again. For example, XF1 would give you the ability to cancel anything, XF2 would give you speed boost as well as cancelling any move, and XF3 would give you all of that plus a small damage boost. I might be going a little too harsh with the nerfs because there wouldn’t be much of point of the red glow for XF1, but I think it would make Marvel more fun imo.
The game is only going to end up more random if XF didn’t exist. It’ll be a “first touch = 90% chance of winning” affair and front loaded teams will dominate more than it already is dominating. MvC3 is not MvC2, the high damage and increased importance in team synergy makes some kind of equalizing mechanic almost mandatory.
First touch pretty much does mean you win in most of the high stakes tournaments I watch. XF usually just ensures the victory when it comes to certain characters. I’m not saying there isn’t any skill involved, just that it would be nice if XF wasn’t such a game breaker in the “low” level play
Started looking at Marvel in a broader sense. Don’t feel too bad about XF. I feel like once you get movement down and better reactions that things aren’t as nutty as they could be
