Having failed several times recently to get Ken’s MP>HP>Super off on the XB360 pad (which I’m currently using for Kaillera) (and by the way, this combo is generally unnecessary, as tests showed it did a simple one pixel more damage vs. Cr.MP>Super. Rare cases may call for this technique), and getting it instantly (and continuously) with the stock SFAC stick, I’m chomping at the bit to get something I can use on my PC.
As previously-mentioned stick is among the bunch that doesn’t work with converters, I’m going to have to purchase a separate one… However, that should be taken care of soon.
If you’re any kind of used to a stick at all, I’d say make The Jump. Your execution will only go up.
i used to be a marvel player on pad for the longest time. i stopped playing on pad because evo2k4 was a wakeup call.
back then, i used to play with my left and right thumb. left thumb on the d pad, right thumb on the buttons minus assist. i always wonder why cant i rom infinite, fast fly or do those fast ass triangle jumps.
at evo2k4, i heard about phat_toi, who was one of the better marvel player at the time but notorious because he owns people, on the DC pad. he can pull all of that shit i mentioned above flawlessly and also mash out of grav xx tempest. i asked him how he does all that and he told me “i dont think you can pull that off with the way you play.” phat_toi uses his fingers to hit the buttons compared to me using the thumb. he also told me soo also uses his thumb if he plays on pad. like soo, maybe thats why i perfer doing the slide method with the rom infinite instead of the claw (on stick of course) since it involves some thumb work.
anyways, long story short, i stopped using pad since that wakeup call.
I’m pretty consistant on a pad and a stick. Where the stick has some innate benefits, all that matters is execution. To seperate muscle memeory I play Accent core on my stick and #Reload online with a ps2 pad(I also played with one then so its more natural anyways). Doing some stuff in both games, the pad does have some benefits when it comes to instant air dashing and jump installing. Still, prefer my stick, but I can understand some peoples pad preference.
One question to pad players – or just everyone in general who did play on a pad? Do you use the tip of your thumb or do ou lay the joint over the D-pad? I find with the joint method you can do some inputs VERY fast with little finger trauma… while I see people rip their fingers to hell using the tip of there thumbs.
ok lets get one thing straight this is not a thread about pads vs. sticks and it never was! people are trying to make it seem like that! when i made this thread it was to get a better understanding of why a stick is liked more over a pad. also to get more opions from other pad and stick players but all i keep seeing in this thread is how very one is trying to convert everyone else to pad or stick please it is NOT PAD VS. STICKS! i want to know what makes a stick better and why can pad players beat stick players if stick players are so much better than a pad! rep went down because i made this thread but for YOU dumb ass stick players who keep at calling me a nub and messing my rep up because i speak my mind come at me i play pad!
Also i play the dreamcast pad and when i hit the buttons i hit them with my thumbs. i hit three buttons at a time to do tri dashs and rom with magneto and storm. same with sentinel i have no trouble doing that. it is better to play with the joint of your finger tips versus your finger tips that get blisters. i dont see anyone being real good like that because it would make it very hard to do any advance things fast at all or do able. they try to play it like a stick and its a pad.
my grammer and spelling is bad lol hey but the dreamcast is one of the better pads in my opinion for mvc2. its thumb on dpad thumb on buttons fingers on assists that easy. i just wish the gaming community in atl was bigger because its hard to get together over because the scene is not that big like new york or california

You wanted a better understanding of why a lot of people prefer sticks rather than pads. I tried to explain, from my point of view, why I prefer sticks. For reasons unknown to me, you decided to lash out at me. Stop being a shithead and maybe people will stop treating you like one.

no…its not the same thing because if i wanted a thread about pad vs. stick i would of made one about that get it right now. i want opinions not stick players saying why its a fact that sticks are better. i have compared them but i am not biost about either one. i play both and my skills are best on a pad thats why i play it over a stick but i will get good at both. they are compared but this thread is not pad vs. stick because putting vs. in it would mean that one will win over the other and that is not the meaning of this thread but for everyone to give there opinion on it both stick and pad players, so we can all have a better understanding about it. not one is better than the other in my opinion it all comes down to skill!

magnetic itachi... how about this.... since you live in the same state as me... i will literally bet $100 against your $5 for every mvc2 game we play(meaning i put down $100 for every $5 you are willing to bet)... me on stick, you pad. i live in savannah so figure it like this... you win once and you have the gas money here and back... plus $60 to play with.
