I’d love to get better at fighting games. Therefore, I’d love to get the best stick money could buy to get better. Shit’s fuckin expensive, son. College is coming up, absolutely need a new computer, a car/ drivers license, Wii/PS3… a stick is very, very low for me right now.
However, I’m fully aware that I’m basically handicapping myself, but then again, I don’t fool myself into think I’ll ever get really good at fighting games anytime soon without a stick. :wonder:
am pretty good with pad, but i refuse to play on them if the D pad is unresponsive, example new playstation pads, the dpads are really hard. needs to be played on quite a bit for it to feel just fine. also i completely hate shoulder trigger buttons, why the hell wont they put six buttons like saturn pads on controllers:annoy:
but anyways, im never going back to pad, unless there is no stick available :wgrin: I just modded a stick with sanwa JLF with octagonal gate and sanwa buttons, and they rule:lovin:
so for me its happ, sanwa sticks
have yet to try seimitsu sticks.
I have the same problem. Originally I played everything with a pad since there were no arcades where I grew up. A few years ago I finally started trying to learn with a stick and I’ve never been able to completely switch to it because my execution has always given me problems, especially with double motions. I prefer a stick for ST and MVC2 because I don’t have to worry about quick doubles as much, but I can’t play 3S on a stick because doing simple things like low forward xx Super is still really hard for me.
I probably would’ve been better off going cold turkey and refusing to use anything other than a stick (despite how much I would’ve sucked for awhile) just to get used to it. Now I’m still stuck in the middle.
Oddly enough, I’m also picky about what kind of stick I use for different games. If I’m playing ST or CVS2, I prefer a Japanese stick with a square gate. If I’m playing MVC2, I prefer an American stick with a circular gate.
I always play with pads. I have a stick to practice for arcade tournies, but I just prefer the pad. It’s much more comftorbale to me, and my execution can get to around 95-100%. To me it’s just easier for my to move my thumb a small distance to get the move I want. Everyone just play with what feels best for you!
Screw the haters, if you want to play on your pad, go ahead. Although it seems you might be better overall on stick in the long run at least for MvC2.
My advice, plays whatever feels best for you, but learn a bit on stick so in casuals you don’t always have to put in a pad. People always get bitchy about people changing controllers, but no one bitches when someone picks in another stick and has to change their buttons .
No no no…The Nuby pad goes out after ONE MONTH…I used it for about a year plus…I had to buy one every month because it went out in a month…and even at its top at the beginning…my accuracy still was NOT the best.
I was like you I sought after a Modeled Saturn pad and all this time I thought it was me with the Nuby but lo and behold my execution with the Saturn pad shot up 5X IMMEDIATELY…I could do combos I never could and things I never could before…
I dunno what it is but even with the games with the WORST CONTROL possible…the Saturn Ps2 pad is pretty much the Equalizer.
