I can ask the comm department at my University to let me borrow a soundboard and monitors. I bet if I ask the right person very nicely they will oblige. If that falls through, I’ve got a pretty high quality microphone (uni-directional to prevent feedback) and the know-how to turn a standard desktop PC into a PA system. PM me if you’re interested.
I do intend on staying for the entire event. (Friday - Sunday) So I won’t be leaving early and needing to take the gear back.
A little follow up here for those interested in the anti-Phoenix stuff.
I spent a little time in training mode today, and the technique seems more versatile than I first though. You’re somewhat limited with She-Hulk on point, but with 2 bars, there are a lot of easy ways to DHC into the throw super, with proper timing. One of the more relevant ones is with Wolverine: combo into air-to-air dive kick for the ground bounce, land, H xx Fatal Claw, then DHC to She-Hulk throw at the right time. Another easy one is with Taskmaster: ground chain, web swing combo xx horizontal arrows super, DHC to She-Hulk. I’d imagine that most upper tier characters have supers that, when used in the corner, would produce a similar Phoenix placement such that a DHC into She-Hulk hits (Hyper Sentinel Force, Million Dollars, Chaotic Flame, to name a few).
MODOK’s super throw (Killer Illumination) has three times as many invincibility frames as She-Hulks, so it works as well, but requires Phoenix to be on the ground when she dies instead of popped up in the air. It’s pretty easy to do with MODOK on point: just a basic air combo, OTG, cubes, super cancel when she turns. The timing is extremely lenient in terms of invincibility frames, though I suppose if you do it too late, she could teleport away. I didn’t try DHC’ing into it, though there may be some good setups for MODOK since his throw range is huge.
Haggar and Tron’s level 3s would theoretically work the same, though their range kind of sucks. Akuma’s Raging Demon probably works. I don’t think Thor’s super throw would work since it has so few active frames. If you activated it exactly on frame 29 of Phoenix’s transformation animation (according to GimR’s video), it might work… not really worth it in any case.
Another way to get around it is with Hsien-Ko, since she doesn’t get knocked back by the transformation when she has hyper armor active, and she has a command grab that lets you combo afterwards, which could be a 1-touch kill with x-factor.
I’m pretty sure there are setups for X-23’s level 3 since it has a lot of invincibility on activation, but I don’t really feel like trying to figure that out…

It’s been almost a month since I’ve played SSF4. I have to say… I feel like I’m going to come into the game a little rusty and a little behind everyone else as far as match-ups… But, I think that I’ll be able to make my Sim gameplay the next step more efficient. I’m ready to rewrite my technique. So, I’m thinking about how I should approach matches a lot and trying to train myself in my imagination…

Yeah I feel what you’re saying… to me streaming would be great but I know there are a lot of things that need to be done (and $$ spent) to make that happen so I know that’s it’s not feasible…
The advertising locally I feel would help bring more people not only to the tournament but the arcade itself cause a lot of people dont know that GG exists, hell 2 years ago I didnt know it existed… I thought the arcade closed down in the old “Tilt” days… If it werent for SRK I would still be clueless cause I never go to hickory hollow mall for anything unless I feel like being adventurous and risk getting shot for a new pairs of kicks…

You can play MVC3 on Shawn’s old 65 inch TV since I doubt I will have SSF4AE there for console by then and the SSF4AE arcade machines (which are going down to 25 cents) will be at the new location by the first week of July.
Congrats on getting the place finished!!!.. wow 25 cents to play AE is dirt cheap…
I’ll try to swing by the place tomorrow to check it out…
