TN Thread: Johnny Nutsacks Bizarre Adventure!

Anyone up for games tonight? Also, my parents are gone for the next two weeks, so my house is open to anyone for hosting during this time period!

I live in Southaven though, 901-871-3386 just text me if you want my address.

Anyone thinking of going to ufgt? The drive from Memphis is 8-9 hours, much more manageable than CEO which is like 12 iirc.

Woot I’ll see if I can take you up on that, not sure though cause I have so much school bs to do…

Ready this Wednesday for some Marvel! So yeah, many new tactics with Nova, Doom, Mags! Shit is pretty sick.

New tactics? Try winning a game first.

Lmao. I need a new anchor honestly, that or learn to block properly with Hawkeye.

GGs Jerry in Marvel tonight… I’m really bad at giving advice in person. There’s just so much you need to work on it’s really hard to give you a good starting point.

Basically in marvel if you’re blocking you’re losing and your offense did not instill fear in me enough to keep me from just doing an endless barrage of rushdown with nigh unblockable mixups. Work on combos, work on neutral game, goto your character forums, I don’t like your team synergy, learn what to pushblock and not, stop playing autopilot and try to react to touches, I adapted to your tendencies to the point where I could basically tell you how to beat you before the game started since you never really changed them… I could go on…

No offense to you as a player obviously, everyone has to begin somewhere…

I will be at fight night this week… can we have at least ONE sf person show up this time? :frowning:

We had 5/6 people who played SF last week between Anthony, Woot, Justin, random dude, Dax etc. Joseph and I played also.

Are we talking about Jerry/@Kigai Okasu?

If yes, then don’t feel too bad Jerry, Tim is an extremely competent Marvel player.
We played some SF and xTekken before, and I never really gave you a follow-up on those games.

  1. You are playing Akuma, who is very strong, but does not give you much room for error at all. Two combos and you are dead pretty much. To really play him well you need to study how to do his vortex and his mixups. This means knowing all his situational hitconfirms, crossups, throw setups etc. Jump back or forward with air fireball is not gonna cut it vs anyone who knows what they are doing. I can’t tell you more about general strategy except that you need to study up on how to vortex and what the matchup strats are for AK vs. certain characters.

One thing I can definitely tell you to work on is execution. All games require execution in one way or another, and many of Akuma’s strong combos rely on being able to combo into his LK tatsu xx SRK fadc HP red fireball for max damage. You have to be able to hit links and consistently hitconfirm off stray touches. You can do his specials, but I don’t know that you have mastered his execution to the point where combos like the above have become instinctual. You have to build your core, and your core will make those movements automatic.

Yep, it’s me. Thanks for the games, Tim. I guess, more or less, I just need to go against more people instead of the CPU to get out of the habits and repetition that I’ve developed and to get better execution accuracy on the FightPad.

And thanks for the advice, Abe. Wrong game, but thanks lol. Anyway, yeah, I’ve been working in trying to get the vortex down. I’m still trying to figure out which ranges to do the demon flip, which strength to do it, and as a result, whether to go for the palm or the kick and what to do after. I’ve seen that srkfadc into red fireball in the trials mode, but wouldn’t it be more practical to do the fireball fadc into hp, l tatsu, and sweep (assuming that they can be swept)?

Sweep is character specific.

Right, but anybody can still tech recover out of a red fireball and thus cause loss of momentum, right?

Just play Marvel squab, none of the characters have wakeup options!

You can quick rise, but I’m pretty positive that there is a vortex option even for that. Sweep of course when you can for the hard kd, but it’s char specific so it’s advisable to learn the stuff that works on everyone as well.

I couldn’t make it last week… well… I COULD HAVE, but then you all would be sick. But, hopefully the same lot comes out this week.

If you’re talking about AE, and you know you are going to red fireball after SRK, do an instant demon flip palm: If you use MK demon flip palm you will land on same side; if you use HK demon flip palm, I believe, you will cross up. How safe it is will depend on the character you are performing it on (and possibly what level red fireball used), but you should be able to either throw or cr.short (into string) just about any character without a 3-frame DP (so 4-frame reversal safe).

In the same sense, when using HK demon flip - instead of crossing up with palm, do a HK kick instead of palm at the last second to stutter them. Many times players will recognize the palm whiff setup again and block cross, but the demon flip kick will hit in front, thus giving you a combo. If they block - just do a string as normal pressure.

For some reason, I think there’s this stigma that I don’t like Marvel, and that’s so far from the truth. Marvel is great, I just can’t take the game seriously because there’s so much “stupid” stuff in it that makes it NOT fun to me. I really do enjoy messing around and playing it. But once you try to seriously train and play it, is when it loses it’s fun IMO.

Memphis Fight Night INJUSTICE: Poshib vs Rukus

Some serious hype is headed to fn this week so be ready. Similar to the hype that was brought at my last big party for those of you who may remember. Hell I’m even gonna troll everyone in injustice, just give me 10 mins that night to sit down and mess with it. But of course it will be mostly marvel for me, oh and I’m gonna body anthony in sf and justina if he shows up, just sayin…

Thanks for the tip, Squab. One question though. If I’m in range for an MK demon flip, wouldn’t I also be in range to do a cross-up tatsu?

The best thing about that injustice video is that you can hear me mashing buttons in marvel right next to that station…
