The post wasn’t specifically directed at anyone. It was the consequence of frustration with SRK in general. I have put some good work in towards improving it, but some maintenance decisions are questionable. For one, why wouldn’t threads be automatically closed, etc. Why do people actually have to go through all of the trouble for such a simple thing?
I’d go so far as to ask questions like, what is the actual bottleneck here in the first place, what is the measured improvement from the current maintenance procedures, what is the architecture, does SRK own its own hardware, rent rack space, or rent virtual space, etc, etc. But, I’m sure you have no interest in talking about it and people probably have no interest in changing even if some solution was found. I understand where you’re coming from as long ago I helped this fantasy sport site run for years at no real benefit to myself. Sites are a bitch to run, especially for free… If you put in too much time you end up feeling like it’s time to quit altogether.
The post was not intended to inflate my ego. Those of us who actually follow the thread have our own methods for keep our ‘place’ reading the threads and the like. Then we end up with all of the updated posts merged back into the old thread which puts it over the 1k limit by 60 threads which immediately requires us to create a new thread. So, fundamentally… the only thing that accomplished was that you slapped the hand of everyone posting here. If you were wanting to point out that someone here was behaving inappropriately a post would have had the same effect. However, it was done to create an inconvenience for others. I don’t really care THAT much, it’s not like I wrote a strongly worded letter to the editor. I just posted about my general frustrations with SRK and in general how many online entities approach decision making. It doesn’t take much for people to post frustrations on a forum.
I don’t know you, your background, or the rest of the team. I can only assume that this site is run at an incredibly low budget due to the system recovery times that we see regularly. I can certainly applaud your efforts to keep working on something that provides so many frustrations and so little return on that investment.
I will certainly be at FR14 and if you want we can talk shop, play some matches, slug it out in the parking lot (i’ll probably lose), or whatever.
I DO dig SRK. I am just anal and easily frustrated at things that I feel could be done better.

So I just got back home from picking up my mom from work and the weather is straight dominating fools to say the least. Cars are pulled over to the side; wrecked vehicles, a Memphis staple when severe weather hits. The visibility is garbage and on certain high traffic roads, the slush is turning into ice.

We were running fight club in the unused office area, but now thats just a storage for Sega Genesis/Super Nintendo sports games.

If I might make a suggestion - I’m sure that the management might like to hear your suggestions for improvement. If you have ideas that might improve the general performance of the site, I would be more than happy to forward through the appropriate channels. I actually don’t know anything about the servers themselves or the architecture therein, or I would definitely be willing to discuss them myself.
If I might make an inquiry - once upon a time, TN had several different threads, but those were consolidated into one thread in the past few years or so. Would it benefit to seperate the thread again? Or do you guys on either side still meet up with each other fairly often? You guys go through threads like hot knives through butter, and I’m still closing at 1000 until I can get confirmation from the administrators not to (I’ll make that suggestion as well), so would you rather divide the areas or keep it all in one thread?
Oh I know exactly why we go through threads so quickly, but I’ll keep my mouth shut. halo
But in all seriousness, I like being in the same thread with the Nashville cats. Even if they were still split up, I’d post there anyway. Lots of good friends there.

I think that it very much makes sense for these threads to be one since we’re all sort of one big scene.
