Hehe yeah kando. Tis a shame they don’t have shift diagonal. Only verticals and horizontals. Updating the tut for apple+g and some tonight so look out for it.
Word, I know aboot them actions too. I have a good 25 of them programmed, but for simple functions like the ones I mentioned, it’s faster for me to just hit the three keys than it is for me to bring up the action menu, sort through it to find the one I want, click it, and then click play.
Here’s a couple that nobody else mentioned yet that I like to use a lot: Ctrl 0 (that’s a zero, not an O) is to zoom fit, and Ctrl alt 0 is to zoom to full size.
And for toggling some more menus, F6 is color, F7 is layers, F8 is info, F9 is actions.
If I remember correctly, holding shift when you press [ or ] to change brush size will change it’s softness instead of its size.
yeah…help me out. just had portfolio review and showed some of my best work and the professors shitted on it. basically they said that i need more…things in different perspective. kinda like worms eye view, birds eye view, etc. etc. basically i want to give them a big fuck you by knocking them off of their feet next time.
what are some tips or like sites, artists, images, etc. that i can look at to do that? that i can get inspiration from and also get help to do that?
i draw in a manga style, if that helps. i need stuff from all sorts of crazy ass perspectives. thx.
sad
i need a link to how to do backgrounds in perspective from start to finish, as well as a coloring fact also. i mean i can color and all that, but i really need to prove a point here
actually Ron, you don’t have to bring up th action menu again. You can map the action to a single fuction key. But you’re really only saving yourself a split second by mapping actions isntead of pressing 3 keys. It’s really more for things like resizing a bunch of pics, or blurring, etc…
the shift+[/] to change softness is one i haven’t heard. gonna try it out!
DFist: Sweet, I didn’t know you could assign single hotkeys to actions.
Woof: That’s a pretty sweet idea, although I don’t think I can give up my right click for that.
Speaking of which: When you have the brush selected, right click will open up your brush menu, and shift+right click will take you to your blending mode menu. Also, if you want to change the opacity setting on your brush, just type in what you want on the numbers and it’ll do it. If you jsut hit one button, say 3, it will change it to 30%, but if you press two buttons quickly, like 37, it will go exactly to 37%.
The way apple g works is if your layer you are working on is on a layer of it’s own. Make sure it’'s tranparent. make a new layer on top of that and press apple g (control +g) for pc users I think. You should see an arrow next to your new layer, which means it now is part of the layer beneath it. Kinda like a mask. Now paint on the apple g layer you just made. No more worries about painting outside the lines! tada.
This is very useful as you can paint a character seperate from a background element. Make as many layer as you want with the apple g. You can have as many arrowed layer dropping down into that one layer. http://img67.imageshack.us/img67/653/appleg5sp.jpg
moving onto apple z and apple option z.
apple z is one undo and apple option z is multiple undos. Basically I’d rather just use apple+option+z even for 1 undo. Just hold apple+option and tap on z for mutiple undos. More tomorrow, got some shit to do.
Hey Dudes, check out these sweet ass toys that I ordered. They’re perfect for posing becuase they’re small, convenient, nude, and have like over 30 points of articulation. Get em on eBay, foos. I bought 4 of them (a pair for me and a pair for my gf) and the seller let me combine shipping so it wasn’t that much.
Damn that’s kinda cool man. I like the colored ones. Maybe I should pick up 2 of them. Male and female. Good find man. They are from Japan eh. How long did it take them to ship to you?
here’s a cool thing I found out for Wacom tablet users – you aren’t limited to a single command for any of the buttons. Set the button to “Keystroke” and input a sequence of shortcuts. For myself, since I’m still getting used to drawing on the tablet, I need to clear the screen real fast after doodling a whole bunch of stuff.
I have on button on my tablet set to:
{Ctrl+A} {Del} {Ctrl+D}
which is basically a select all, delete selection, and unselect all in one button.
More useful shortcuts:
X – switches foreground & background colours.
Q – enters / exits Quick Mask mode (used in conjunction with the lasso tool, mainly to refine layer masks / selections)
About a week and a half, give or take. Since the seller ships from Japan, it costs like $7 to ship one toy because of international shipping fees, but after you get past those fees, they don’t weigh that much individually, so she only charged me and extra $1 for each additional toy included in the shipment.
