Has anyone got any tips on beating bison? I’m an average player, just started picking up evil ryu but use ken, dudley, balrog usually.
Of course I have trouble sometimes and other times I don’t it depends on the person I am playing, but I ALWAYS seem to have trouble playing bison, everything just seems completely safe and if I try to punish it i get counter hit with a roundhouse or one of his specials that people seem to randomly like throwing out. I cant seem to win tried zoning but then he has ex scissor and his aerial thing so that doesn’t seem to work. Any tips would be MUCH appreciated.
EDIT: omfg just lost to a 0 point bison, perfected him first round somehow then lost the next two to random scissor kicks and ultras :’( i can’t be dealing with this i need help
Each opponent, both player and character, that you encounter should be taken completely seriously, whether thet have 0 points or a million. Not only that but you have to approach the match up differently then you would a different character/player. You have to have an understanding of what the character is capable of, what your character is capable of, what the player is capable of and what you are capable of. That is all that it comes down to. When the match starts, who ever is able to analyze their opponents capabilities and understand them faster then the other will win. There is no secret techniques or “tricks” or “cheap” and this and that.
So say you are using evil Ryu, you have to know all your combos that work on bison. You have to know all your safe jumps and your option selects. especially for bison since he has a plethora of wake up options when he has meter. You have to know the spacing where you can throw a fireball and recover in time to anti air any jump attempts. You have to know the spacing you can be in to make your opponent press a button and have it miss and then whiff punish. You need to know the spacing you can be in and poke with your buttons so that they stuff his buttons. You have to know how to pressure with frame advantage and throws. Etc etc. This game goes deep and honestly it just sounds like you need more practice
I understand what you mean and you’re right I do need more practise. My main question was just really, how can I punish bison with a shoto cause nothing I seem to do after a scissor kick works as it pushes him so far back, c.mk, tatsu, ex hado, kara shoryu I cant se anything.
then because of that it just seems like i’m getting pressured unlimitedly and its quite hard to do anything about. I suppose I will have to go into training and set a dummy to scissor kick me, however I only get to play for an hour or so every couple of nights and playing online is way more fun thats why I was after any quick tips which may help
Also I know there are zero pint warriors out there I was just annoyed because… everyone has had them games where they loose to someone that you know isn’t that great but they throw out dead random stuff that catches you off guard cause in your mind why would anyone who plays the game well do that lol
The best way to beat Bison is to pressure him. He has very poor defensive tools and a terrible wake up. Even when he has meter to do a reversal, they have a lot of start up and recovery. Also, try to cross him up so he loses his charge.
When he is pressuring you in the corner, it’s an uphill battle and difficult to get out.
Yes, pressure Bison until his weak defense cracks than punish him when it does crack. My main is Bison. If you don’t punish and pressure him, he will get you.
