I played a LOT of MvC2 on my Dreamcast, and I literally wrote the FAQ on how to best earn points used to unlock new characters/outfits.
Now my local fighting game arcade (Shoryuken League!) has a MvC2 arcade machine, and I want to help everyone out by putting in the time to unlock things.
But there is a problem - I don’t seem to earn ANY experience when I play! Zero. None. The machine is set to Free Play - could that be the problem? Looking online I saw one person say that continues offer the most points - should I fight the AI and lose/continue over and over?
I really wanted to get this done so I can train up some more MvC2 fans in my area. Help appreciated!
I don’t know about the effect of free play but I know experience is literally a count of how many coins go through the machine. There may be a dip switch you can flip from the admin screen to unlock immediately.
I’ve heard of managers unlocking the coin box so players could sit there flicking the quarter counter to the required amount for unlocks.

JUMP TO LEVEL 24 (unlock 16 characters) Enter Game Test Mode. Move cursor to Demo Sound. Press in order: Assist 2, Assist 1, Roundhouse, Fierce, Short, Jab. Exit Game Test Mode.
JUMP TO LEVEL 48 (unlock 8 characters) Enter Game Test Mode. Move cursor to Damage Level. Press in order: Roundhouse, Assist 2, Assist 1, Roundhouse, Fierce, Roundhouse. Exit Test Mode.
JUMP TO LEVEL 72 (unlock 8 characters) Enter Game Test Mode. Move cursor to Continue. Press in order: Jab, Fierce, Jab, Assist 1, Short, Fierce. Exit Game Test Mode.
JUMP TO LEVEL 84 (unlock 4 characters) Enter Game Test Mode. Move cursor to Difficulty. Press in order: Fierce, Short, Assist 1, Jab, Assist 2, Jab. Exit Game Test Mode.
