Tips for a MvC2 player fresh off the bench?

Okay… so I have a TE fightstick for my ps3/360… I’ve been playing SF4 and SSF4, and now I’m also wanting to alternate to MvC 2… I’m half decent… always do arcade mode and stuff on easy/med… not so much hard.

My team is Sent./Strider/Doom.

My friend told me you always need a big character… and I just picked strider cuz he looked cool, and Doom is my fave marvel character out there so yeah.
