hey guys i was wondering, do you have a time limit to perform certain moves? for example, sagat lk lk lk ts. how long does it take for you to imput te second lk and so on? this is my main issue. i cant seem to time the links correctly. thanks.
Yes, ofcourse there is a time limit. More like a window where you would input the move for it to connect.
However you should first understand the concept of chaining and linking; assuming you do, the strictest timing for a link in the SFIV system is 1 frame which is equal to 17 miliseconds.
EXAMPLE: Ryu’s cr.lp cr.lp c.mk xx fireball … You have a 1 frame window to input the c.mk in order for it to link after the c.lp. You must also put in mind how much hit advantage c.lp gives. Because only after that is when you can input the 1 framer
As for your example Sagats c.lk to c.lk is a 2 frame link so you you have 34 miliseconds to press the next c.lk after the first fully recovers from its hit advantage which is 6 frames; but if you want to end it with a tiger shot you have to chain the last input NOT CANCEL… thats the problem alot of people learning the game make a mistake in. Your last input for the tiger shot has to be chained. c.lk c.lk .clk ~ tiger shot. You have to do all of those inside the 2 frame window; you cannot spam the tiger shot at the end.
Once you understand this concept; you should work on your muscle memory in practice mode to get a feel of the links; you cannot rely on just knowing the time window since its almost impossible to know for a human when to press inside a 1 or 2 frame. However you can use that understanding to build it on your muscle memory.
1-Know whether its a link or chain.
2-Know what kind of link it is 1 frame 2 frame 3 frame window
3-Practice it over and over in order for your muscles to memorize the button pushing; the more relaxed you are the better.
As a starter you can also use visual or audio cues to know when to press a button however don’t rely on that too much since it can be deceiving in certain situations.
Oh and make sure you don’t play on a laggy screen.
Check out the execution thread.
Not to be a dick or anything but your thread doesn’t answer his question
No offense taken but, yes, it does.
If my writing is unclear, I always welcome ways to improve the stickies.
starcade rip always makes me laugh
His thread actually does have a very clear answer to this question. Here …
Thanks guys
