TIMELESS games?

+1.
I am existentially pissed that cartridges for Dual Strike and Days of Ruin are so rare.
The fuck lol

Oni. 2 surpasses all the Onimushas aside from being equally as good as the first one.
It has a broader story and everything has been expanded on without ruining the core spirit of the game. Onimusha 3 doesn’t feel the same. I haven’t played 4.

Jubei’s story is tragic. After what was done to his village and later on, his mother, his soul was just burning with vengeance. The final battle with Nobunaga was legendary.
My other favorite character in the game is Magoichi, besides jubei and oyu. Remember Gogandatass? I really liked that guy.

Black Jaguar says he prefers Jubei too. Well really we all love Samanosuke and Jubei the same.
I think we can all agree that onimusha 2 is an excellent sequel.

I honestly find nothing wrong with MGS4’s plot. Except maybe Meryl’s sudden marriage to Johnny wtf. That part was definitely kind of stupid.
The nanomachine related stuff doesn’t bother me at all.

Haven’t yet played Godhand so can’t render a verdict really.

@blueleon: good to know Onimusha 2 is regarded well.

MGS4 was something Kojima didn’t want to do at a time when he wanted to move onto new projects but Konami forced his hand. This was the end result. It basically crapped over every previous thing by explaining it all away as Nanomachines, which doesn’t make any sense at all for a lot of cases. The rushed endings were odd as well. It is both good and bad he has recently been focusing on Big Boss considering he actually likes the character and he can avoid retconning or correcting mistakes in the future.

The most glaring omission is where is Liquid’s arm? No one has it as far as we can tell, should set up for Big Boss versus Phantom Liquid in the future. I’d buy it.

We need a new Advance Wars for 3DS that isn’t Days of Ruin. Online mode matches would be hype as hell.

Ayo, try out Godhand if you have time. It’s a fantastic title. Just takes a bit of time to work into it, it’s not perfect but the game I feel stands up due to the depth of gameplay. The biggest problems you might have with it are:

  1. It’s HARD. Like very hard, actually the better you play the harder it gets (it has a meter just for this and a “grovel” super move that resets the meter back to zero. Keeping the meter high though gives you better bonuses)
  2. Tank controls. Holding back doesn’t mean you turn around and run backwards, instead you back pedal. This is actually intentional to an extent as the game has a system in place where opponents behind you and not shown on camera are less likely to attack (to a point, this actually starts dropping as difficulty gets high)
  3. Ugly graphics, especially the introductory level is ugly shades of brown, flat land and low poly objects.

That said, if you can work past those 3 things you’ll find one of the deepest beat em ups to date.

Yea God Hand is experimental development at its best. Games also fuckin hilarious…Pendejo.

Bruh, I don’t even need to explain why the PS2 is that hawtness. Just read some of the post in this thread. But, I respect your opinion. Each version of the console has its list of poor to fucking godlike games.

EDIT: 3 pages in and not a single mention of old school Armored Core or Xenosaga? You niggas is fast asleep.

I play the Yoshi’s Island theme song in my car at max volume, fuck the haters.

People be thinking I’m playing African music or some shit tho.

I can’t believe the words Armored Core made it into this topic. <3

Great series, though not very consistent.

More: Joe & Mac, Adventure Island, Wonder Boy 1-3, Custom Robo, Virtual-On: Ontario whatever, Spyro the Dragon, Jumping Flash, Daytona USA, Ghost N’ Goblins series, Maximo Series, Gargoyle’s Quest series.

No Oddword?

Also, Monkey fucking island. Shit’s still being played after 25+ years

How many off y’all would stop and play Shadow over Mystara or Aliens vs Predator for at least an hour RIGHT NOW if you walked past a cabinet.

TBH I feel Armored Core, as great a series as it is, the controls have not aged terribly well. They feel clunky to me now. Still a blast though, I own a bunch of entries in the series.

IMO the mech game that has aged the best:

As long as it’s the arcade version with dual sticks mmmmmmmmmm soooooo good.

Policenauts

Did that at a laser tag place as a teen while on a date. We went in, I was like “I’mma make this girl mine, she won’t be able to resist the cha-Holy shit is that an AvP cab?!”

Suffice to say I did fall in love that day, with murdering aliens.

Lol, word and don’t forget all the times you been near a Ms Pacman machine and didn’t even want to play that ho but did it anyway because its Ms Pacman.

My list:
Frostbite
Prince of Persia
Street Fighter II (for it’s impact and legacy) or Super Turbo (finest FG)
The Legend of Zelda (original or ALttP)
Doom (for its legacy) or Quake 3 + Pro-Mode (finest shooter)
Super Metroid a.k.a. Metroid 3
Rock and Roll Racing
The Lost Vikings
Star Fox
Donkey Kong Country (2 was better, but the first one is memorable)

The only “new-gen” game I’d add would be Conker’s Bad Fur Day. Awesome and fun.

My list is Games/Game series

Pong
Duck hunt
Mike Tysons Punch Out
Tecmo Bowl
Streets of rage 1,2&3
Contra 3 : The Alien Wars
Comix Zone
Resident Evil
Elemental Gearbolt
Goldeneye
Halo
Portal
Zelda

ET.

Speaking of which. Sierra is making King’s Quest!!!

Intelligent Qube (PS1) - One of my favorite games of all time. Best puzzle game since Tetris. I can’t get enough of this one. Got epsxe on my phone just to be able to play it on the go.

Sonic 1-Knuckles (Genesis) - These are always so fun. Sonic 1 was one of the games that turned me on to the Genesis over the SNES, and I still don’t regret the choice.

Out of This World (SNES) - For some reason, this game still creeps me out.

Donkey Kong Country (SNES) - Didn’t do much that other side scrollers hadn’t already done, but it did so many things right at the right time.
