Time to go to work, guys! Dante team building thread

hey guys i am trying to get back into this game. so i decided to try to use my old vanilla team of dante/doom/sent. sent i am gonna be using drones but for dante and doom i would like your opinion on the best assist for the team.
in vanilla i use jam session and plasma beam.

jam session and missiles.

Too be honest, if you’re willing to play Dante with his modified BnBs, don’t be lazy about learning Magneto’s, cause his are honestly not that hard.
Strider Doom Iron-man (unibeam is godlike, repulsar blast is godlike too) Akuma and of course Sentinerf are all really good for that pairing.
if you want some new Bullshit, go for unblockables and pick Nova.

Dante(Weasel)/Felicia(Buckler)/Strider(Vajra). Thoughts?

Not so fast now, hidden missiles is good and all, but you already have one extremely slow assist on your team in drones, not sure if sticking another one in there is such a good idea. Plus, I’ve been doing some sentinel testing and he has some dope hitconfirms with greyhound and tatsu, haven’t tested plasma beam yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it gives him access to those hit confirms.

In the end, I think it’ll come down to match-ups, against someone with drones or hidden missiles you might wanna switch doom to plasma beam, but against someone you wanna lame out(or someone like trish) then hidden missiles might be the better choice. Id suggest practicing working with both assists and switching depending on the match-up.

I’m kind of curious about this myself, specifically the Felicia/Strider combination. It seems like it would be a really good match, since Felicia can self-OTG so easily. She’s hard enough to defend against as it is with that damn command grab, and the threat of Vajra would have your opponent think twice about taking to the skies. I think Delta Kick can cross up, too, so she’d get silly left/rights with Vajra almost like other teleporters.
And Rolling Buckler probably lets you do really easy unblockables with Strider (like he needs more ways to land a hit lol) should you ever bring him in rather than keep him in the back for XF3.

Add Magneto, and you have a top tier team. His combos really aren’t that hard and you can make bootleg versions with assists

Yeah Felicia and Strider definitely have a lot of potential synergy. How is Weasel Shot for Felicia though? I assume you can get L/R 50/50’s in conjunction with catwalk aside from other things. I know for Strider it’s lol. Call Weasel Shot+TK M Excalibur is stupid safe and gets you L/R High/Low 50/50’s with j.L and double jump. I feel like this team in any order is pretty terrifying. Point Strider with unblockables and BS mixups, hide ya kids hide ya wife.

Dante with missiles and drones is one of the most cheaply effective Dante teams right now. It amplifies his neutral game by such a considerable amount it’s retarded, his combos can be extended so much that you can easily build just over or just under 2 meters off hit confirms, and his zoning and mix-up game can be almost rage inducing to deal with.

I would recommend it of course but only If said player can actually use both Doom and Sentinel at least decently, but what makes this team good is that both Doom and Sentinel also work really well together, because zoning and rushing with either of them on point while backed up by assists is really effective.

If the team gets happy birthdayed, or if any one character dies off too early into the match that can be a big problem though, the synergy of the team has a relative concept to how clockwork’s team worked in MvC2, run around the screen, chip out and do extensive combos, all while obtaining a ton of meter to just repeat the process.

I haven’t played with Felicia that much, but I find Weasel Shot and Jam Session are both fantastic assists for her. Lockdown, day and a half hit-confirm, combo extender, tick command throw, left/rights…
I used to use Jill quite a bit, with Dante second, and use his assists pretty much the same way. I’d just change depending on the matchup, or whoever I was using as anchor. And yeah, that team sounds dirty no matter how you order it.

Oddball here. I’m trying to run Thor(spark)/Dante(jam session)/Felicia(Buckler or Sand Splash). If jam session hits Thor can either c.m or mighty smash M into a full combo. I’m just having a hard time seeing how Dante can benefit from either rolling buckler or sand splash. Thoughts?

Well Rolling Buckler covers pretty good horizontal distance, and it hits low. Twice. So Dante air dashing/teleporting with a huge-ass sword + Rolling Buckler will make it very hard for your opponent to block. Sand Splash can OTG, so you can get lazy combo extensions, as well as easily convert off an air throw. It’s also a projectile, but it doesn’t go very far or have very much durability.
IDK if Thor is dependent on an OTG assist, but Rolling Buckler seems like it would be really good for him; a low hitting assist and a character with a command throw, an aerial command throw, and good air normals doesn’t sound too bad.

The first hit of rolling buckler is actually a mid, just the slide is a low. Still good that it hits twice though.

Edit: You also can’t chicken block it. Cheeeap.

Lockdown your enemy in the corner use buckler and the when the low hit comes u jump dash and use H = an unblockable and cant be push blocked cause of the assist.

Cool stuff for that Thor team. Back throw, raw Tag to Dante, cold shower xx prop shredder = full combo, unscaled damage.

(I play Thor. No, I don’t know why.)

Dante/Felicia is still a good duo. Rolling Buckler is way too good of an assist and people still haven’t realized it. Comes out way too fast and people need to watch their legs at all times along with their head with Dante’s fast IAD stuff. If the opponent ever blocks an acid rain it’s pretty much a free unblockable with H, Stinger, Rolling Buckler, Teleport j.H. The scaling isn’t even that harsh and it’s not terribly difficult to combo from either. One thing I would recommend is putting a character with really good DHC potential in the middle like Sentinel or Dormammu because the DHCs with Dante/Felicia aren’t that great outside of the corner. It’s a really good shell that I would recommend anyone to play if you have the patience to learn Felicia.

Might end up going with taskmaster/dante/akuma. Was originally considering dante/strider/magneto but I don’t have the time to learn them boys, I already play akuma and taskmasters not as complex as magneto or strider. Plus it’ll be fun playing a character that doesn’t die in one combo.

Don’t fight against Zero or Vergil players if you want to believe that Taskmaster doesn’t die in one combo. Don’t play against anyone that has a good TAC shell either.

If there was anything I learned from Vanilla…it’s generally that putting a high health character up first didn’t really save me from dying often (except against the characters that weren’t that good). It’s generally more about how many options your character has that keeps themselves from being hit.

Which means as you’re playing Taskmaster the goal is to play him to a zone game and use his tools to keep people out of optimal range. Mainly because when he does get hit especially if he took any stray damage he most certainly will still die. If you get hit by projectiles and or stray hits that don’t convert…Taskmaster’s health will run down to around the million to 900k range (or worse…EVEN LOWER) and that’s the place where basic, non optimized combos will still kill him. ** You gotta keep perfect health with Taskmaster to not run into the issue of basic ass combos killing him.**

The key in this game is don’t get clean hit into a combo and if you do pray some part of your team survives the mix ups so you get one more chance to do that. The only character/team setup that doesn’t exactly play by those rules is Phoenix teams.

That’s why Morrigan + Missiles has proven to be strong for now because it just simply allows you to play Morrigan for long periods of time without being clean hit.

Well even if I play against them, the fact that he has higher health increases the chance of them messing up their combo, plus worst case scenario it builds dante more bar on his way in. No matter how you slice it, having more health is always a bonus.

To me it only really matters at the start of the round. Which is where you have Taskmaster. It’s just…at high level play it only starts to matter less and less. Plus when you play against the right players Dante coming in just like any other character is more of a matter of “if he comes in”. Right now the level of play especially online isn’t really like that, but the game is already getting to the point where you can’t depend on your second or 3rd characters landing safely on the ground.

I’m just saying the health thing is something that will matter less and less the higher level of opponents you face.
